Tajik exile flees Russia for safety of Paris

France is likely only a transit country for Atovullo. He intends to move soon to Hamburg, where he will wait for the "whirlwind" in Moscow to abate.

Atovullo hopes to return to Moscow in the not-so-distant future. He explained that because Tajiks can travel to Moscow relatively easily, he is able to be more effective as a Tajik opposition activist when operating in the Russian capital.

Fearing that Russia would grant Tajikistan’s extradition request, Dodojon Atovullo, the exiled editor-in-chief of a Tajik opposition newspaper and the leader of Vatandor movement, has fled to Paris.

In an interview with a EurasiaNet correspondent, Atovullo said he decided to leave Russia after discovering that Tajik security agents had reportedly arrived in Moscow with the intention of taking him into custody. Authorities in Dushanbe had issued a warrant in late September for Atovullo’s arrest. The warrant accuses Atovullo of slandering President Imomali Rahmon and carrying out anti-state activities.

Atovullo’s escape was facilitated by possession of a German travel document, which he obtained in 2001, when he was granted a German residence permit. Russian authorities made no attempt to prevent him from boarding a Paris-bound flight recently. The fact that a German television crew was there at the airport to record his departure may have helped avert an incident, he suggested.

In the report, the independent investigator, Stephen E. Branchflower, a former prosecutor in Anchorage, said that Ms. Palin wrongfully allowed her husband, Todd, to use state resources as part of the effort to have Trooper Wooten dismissed.

The report says she knowingly “permitted Todd Palin to use the governor’s office and the resources of the governor’s office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired.”

Three years ago, Trooper Wooten and the governor’s sister, Molly McCann, were locked in a harsh divorce and child-custody battle that further turned the Palin family against him. The couple divorced in January 2006.

Further, it says, she “knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda.”

Palin, wisely, said no, We can hire 40 new Troopers for the less moneya dn they will be able to serve for 20 years. Why would she want half as many rehired Troopers who would only be temporary hires. Monegan sided with his union and went against the Governor. HE was let go for that reason. The rest is circumstantial.

Branchflower said Palin violated a statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Lawmakers don't have the authority to sanction her for such a violation, and they gave no indication they would take any action against her.

Monegan's firing was lawful, the report found, but Palin let the family grudge influence her decision-making _ even if it was not the sole reason Monegan was dismissed.

The Other Side of PAS, Parental Alienation Syndrome

Wow...

I'm embarassed to admit that I finally got around to really researching PAS, Parental Alienation Syndrome. Upon reading about this "syndrome" initially, I was horrified to think of the "alienated" parents who are supposedly forced to endure these horrific ex-spouses...who for no reason seem hell bent on keeping their kids from them. I jumped on the PAS bandwagon and set forth to "righting" this incredibly distructive wrong.

Flash forward to a google search of PAS beyond the first page results...and thus the reason behind this post.

But, honestly...please don't just take my word for it, decide for yourselves, check out some of these links, be aware of the facts and make the best decision. Awareness is key towards making our world a better place.

Of the 331 arrested yesterday, 11 (2 females, 9 males), including one plant supervisor, face criminal charges for various crimes including re-entry after deportation, aggravated identity theft, counterfeit documents and false statements. All have been transferred into the U.S. Marshal's custody.

All of those administratively arrested have been interviewed, fingerprinted, and photographed by ICE agents and processed for removal from the United States. The females arrested were transferred to the Atlanta City Detention Center in Atlanta, Georgia and the males were transferred to the Stuart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.

Naked swimmer evades police in Tokyo palace moat

TOKYO (Reuters) - A bald, naked man who said he was a British tourist went swimming in the moat of Japan's Imperial Palace on Tuesday, climbing the palace wall, throwing rocks and splashing water at police before being taken into custody.

Television footage showed the tall man getting out of the water at one point, chasing police with a rock and a plastic construction site pole.

He then went back to the murky water and swam across to the other side of the moat, climbing up the 8-meter (9-yard) stone wall of the palace.

He was caught by two policemen, after a chase media said lasted for an hour and a half.

"I've never heard of anyone doing such a thing," an unidentified man at the scene told TV Tokyo. "He must be a bit crazy."

Television showed passers-by gathering around the moat and watching the chase, giggling and taking photos on mobile phones.

Americans missing in Lebanon reportedly in custody in Syria

BEIRUT, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - Two U.S. citizens who went missing in Lebanon have been detained in Syria for illegally entering the country, the Lebanese LBC TV channel reported Thursday.

The U.S. Embassy in Damascus said it had not received any information about its missing citizens from the Syrian authorities.

The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon confirmed Wednesday that two Americans working for the Jordan Times newspaper had gone missing in Lebanon.

Taylor Luck and Holli Chmela arrived in Lebanon on September 29 from Jordan and checked in to a Beirut hotel. They have not been heard from since October 1.

Friends of the pair said they planned to visit Byblos and Tripoli in Lebanon's north, then head to Syria before returning to Jordan.

Police: Friend killed by tweezers

MOSCOW, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Police allege a teenager from Ulyanovsk, Russia, fatally stabbed her best friend with a pair of tweezers.

"It was a frenzied, mad attack. You would not imagine the damage a pair of tiny eyebrow tweezers caused the poor girl," an unidentified police officer told the Daily Mail in a story published Monday.

Kristina Danilova, 18, allegedly flew into a rage after her childhood friend, Olga Samoilenko, 18, told her she was ugly and would never get a boyfriend, the Mail reported.

Police said Samoilenko was stabbed more than 100 times with the tweezers and bled to death, the Mail reported.

Danilova, who allegedly called the stabbing an accident and then told police she didn't remember the attack, remained in custody Sunday, the Mail reported.
