The researchers surveyed this group with questions designed to measure various schizophrenic behaviors, artistic output and sexual success, among other aspects of their personal history.

But the finding, published yesterday in the Proceedings of the Royal Society (B), offers some insights into why schizophrenia, which seems to be passed from generation to generation and affects roughly 1 percent of people, does not disappear from the general population. In the study, even non-creative types who revealed an urge to resist conformity had more sexual success. In short, some of the traits associated with the debilitating mental illness can actually increase a persons desirability. And sometimes produce major works of art as well.

<clipSource>http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=creativity-linked-to-sexu</clipSource>

fucking clip

clipped by: angelfresh

Clip Source: dburnsdesign.com

Start teaching your kids Mandarin.”

However, I’ve learned over the years not to over-interpret any two-week event. Olympics don’t change history. They are mere snapshots — a country posing in its Sunday bests for all the world too see.

China did not build the magnificent $43 billion infrastructure for these games, or put on the unparalleled opening and closing ceremonies, simply by the dumb luck of discovering oil.

China has been preparing for the Olympics; we’ve been preparing for Al Qaeda. They’ve been building better stadiums, subways, airports, roads and parks. The sophomore effort - "This Time It's Personal" - opened on Friday night to a packed room and a long queue of pop cult-savvy geeks trailing down Melrose, eager for a look at the cornucopia of pieces that make up the 2008 selection. Some artists returning from last year's line up and some are making their debut, with an astoundingly creative, multimedia selection of tributes to heroes, villains and cult flick idols, from Harold and Maude to Walter and The Dude, Barbarella, Galaxina, and the many (many...many...) faces of Johnny Depp. Kevin Smith and his producing partner Scott Mosier were again on hand to host the event. (And in Smith's case, have his face turn up in a least half a dozen incarnations.)

CRAZY 4 CULT 2: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL

by Nicole Campos

August 23, 2008 8:55 PM
