Comments at the source offered some creative solutions:

"waterguns full of bleach or urine, just like releasing poisonous snakes, just like the balloons filled with hydrochloric acid... this is just police fantasy. There is a big difference between being prepared for a situation and preparing for a fictional tactic that you came up with yourself"

"Carry empty buckets and fill them on-site. Ex-Lax helps. "

I can see it now:

"Is that a bucket of feces?"

"No, officer. It's a firkin of feces."

"Oh. Okay, then."

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

Buckets of Feces Banned at Democratic Convention

I've since learned that the DNC has the federal designation of being a National Special Security Event (NSSE): it's called that, according to Wikipedia, because it's "an attractive target for terrorists or assassins due to the event's visibility or political connection." That makes the DNC on par with the Super Bowl, another NSSE. It's not an out of bounds comparison, either, since Barack Obama has switched the upcoming site for his acceptance speech from Denver's Pepsi Center to the much-larger Invesco Field at Mile High, where the Denver Broncos crack skulls on the gridiron. Go team, indeed.

Recently, the Denver City Council felt compelled to pass an ordinance outlawing carrying buckets of feces, which conceivably could be tossed on delegates or police during the DNC. It’s not really contradictory; it’s largely an issue of intentionality and attention.

And, yeah, “talent” doesn’t hurt either, but there’s no way to even discover if you have talent until you’ve made a lot of crap and an occasional good thing, and find a way for that all to be okay. Plus, anyone can tell you, “talent” is like having a nice ass or a rich father; it helps open doors, but the actual work on the other side of the door is all on you.

Tags: writing, 43folders

<clipSource>http://www.43folders.com/2008/08/20/creative-paradox</clipSource>

Roseanne Barr: Angelina Jolie 'Evil,' Brad Pitt 'Vacuous'

clipped by: dl211
clipper's remarks: "Miss Jolie says she likes [John] McCain too and hasn't decided who to endorse....huh? (for that matter, the thai and vietnamese sons you are photo'd with weekly too!!!? who's pictures you sell to raise money to help the poor? Their families are victims of America's right wing military incursions too. Mccain wants to continue with the idea of war for profit...the americans are over that thinking now! Los Angeles (E! Online) -
On the bright side, it hasn't seemed to affect his Quidditch game.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has revealed he suffers from a mild form of dyspraxia, a neurological disorder that often impairs coordination, and which is sometimes mistaken for sheer clumsiness.

"Yes, Dan Radcliffe does have dyspraxia," his rep told Britain's Daily Mail. "This is something he has never hidden. Thankfully his condition is very mild and at worst manifests itself in an inability to tie his shoelaces and bad handwriting."

The actor did not reveal when he was diagnosed with the disorder, which can sometimes make learning more difficult, but did say that his early days at school were not easy ones.

"I was having a hard time at school in terms of being crap at everything, with no discernible talent," he said.

Tags: dyspraxia

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/eonline/20080818/en_celeb_eo/24227</clipSource>

Wacky Sci-Fi “Laws”

clipped by: haraya
clipper's remarks: If that’s not enough for you, check out Wikipedia’s list of eponymous laws.

Clip Source: www.mentalfloss.com

1.
A massive inflatable dog poo has caused chaos after it blew away from an outdoor art exhibition - leaving a trail of destruction.

The house-sized replica turd, which was a piece of work by American artist Paul McCarthy, broke free from its moorings outside a museum in Switzerland.

The wind carried the fake faeces 200 metres - pulling down power lines and smashing a window in its path.

The crap art, entitled Complex Shit, had been fitted with a safety system to deflate it if the weather turned bad, but that failed to work.

The blow-up poo has now been returned to the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern, where it's scheduled to stay on display until 26 October.

McCarthy is well known for his inflatable artworks, two of which - Blockhead and Daddies Bighead - were displayed outside the Tate Modern in London in 2003.

A lucky guy managed to film a shuttle rocketing off the ground (possibly STS-124) from inside a passing Air Canada airliner. It's less fire, smoke and thunder than a sea-level view, more "Holy crap, look how fast it goes!" Check it out... you may be as amazed as it sounds like he was.

Some of the advantages of verbal comunication are:

1) the opportunity for immediate feedback to make sure the message was understood;

2) the opportunity to utilize nonverbal cues (tone, body language, inflection)

However, there are several disadvantages and the main one is miscommunication. In other words, what the listener hears is often not what is meant. The simplest words, for example, have a different connotation for people. Psychologists trace it to one's upbringing, social status, family and friends, etc.

Generally speaking, men are adverse to expressing their feelings, and hide behind enthusiastic talk about sports, women and cars. Women are often more observant and intuitively separate the truth in a conversation from the crap.

What if someone took a piece of crap stuck it to the walls framed it and called it art and let's say titled it "THE BUSH YEAR's !" I say he captured the moment !

Clip Source: news.bbc.co.uk

Police raid Md. mayor's home and kill his dogs

clipped by: faeriestarr
clipper's remarks: This whole situation couldn't have been handled any more poorly. 2 four legged family members dead over some marijuana and an undercover officer dropped it off!!!

This kinda crap happens all the time though, it just happened to be to a mayor this time. Just legalize marijuana, stop killing and jailing over it and work on REALLY taking care of your community!

Clip Source: www.comcast.net

BERWYN HEIGHTS, Md. — Mayor Cheye Calvo got home from work, saw a package addressed to his wife on the front porch and brought it inside, putting it on a table.

Suddenly, police with guns drawn kicked in the door and stormed in, shooting to death the couple's two dogs and seizing the unopened package.

In it were 32 pounds of marijuana.
