PBS's Jim Lehrer and CBS's Bob Schieffer will join Tom Brokaw as moderators of this year's three presidential debates. These guys are not the only ones with questions!

in an election year in which race, gender and generational change have dominated politics and public discourse, the commission decided that these three white men, aged 68, 71 and 74, respectively, are our nation's best choices to question the candidates and represent voter consciousness

this is not about hating the players, just the game. The chosen ones are all esteemed journalists and have not only paid their dues but supported a number of younger reporters in their own careers, myself included. No, my criticism is aimed at the tired institutional thinking that automatically defaults to older white men to bring gravitas and credibility to important national events and assumes—wrongly—that the men are somehow free of a perspective shaped by their own life circumstances and life stories.

The truth is a powerful tool. But if only our actions weren't necessary. If only, as Jodie Evans suggested, Madam Speaker would do her job!
Saddest of all is the contrast of who Pelosi once was to who she his now. For a woman who was once at the cutting edge of social progressivism, Nancy Pelosi has lost her way. She has strayed from her former social consciousness into the malaise of power. A sorry state for a woman who 32 years ago was a pivotal player in the 1976 Presidential campaign of radically progressive California Governor, Jerry Brown.

Last Monday evening, in the plush environs of Los Angeles' American Jewish University, a dedicated group of pro-peace, Pro-Constitution patriots "booked" Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. No, I don't mean "booked" as in charged her with a crime and jailed her. In this scenario, "booked" is more akin to "punked" - in which case we surprised Madam Pelosi by revising her new book, then forced her to read our revisions. Tuh-Dah!!

It happened like this: Madam Speaker of the House Pelosi, second in line to the Presidency, appeared at a book signing for her ironically titled new tome, "Know Your Power." Since Madam Pelosi has not used her power as Speaker to hold impeachment hearings against George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, as prescribed by Article 1 Section 2 of the Constitution, we pro-Constitution patriots held her to task. We took her new book and scrawled our personalized imperatives and questions within it.

Planet Art eXchange 'The Womb' Project

To understand consciousness and its evolution, we need to ask the right questions.

No one doubts that our experience of phenomenal consciousness—the felt redness of fire, the felt sweetness of a peach, the felt pain of a bee sting—arises from the activity of our brains.

Yet the problem of explaining how this can be so seems to many theorists to be staggeringly hard. How can the wine of consciousness, the weird, ineffable, immaterial qualia that give such richness to subjective experience, conceivably arise from the water of the brain?

As the philosopher Colin McGinn has put it, it's like trying to explain how you can get "numbers from biscuits, or ethics from rhubarb." The philosopher Jerry Fodor recently claimed, "The revisions of our concepts and theories that imagining a solution will eventually require are likely to be very deep and very unsettling."

Northern Burlington County Regional High School football player Bobby Bauma suffered a concussion two years ago that forced him to sit out for five weeks.

WASHINGTON — Your brain needs more of a time-out than just missing the next game to recover from a concussion. New research suggests student athletes who are too active — not just on the field, but at home and school — may hinder their recovery.

More puzzling, female athletes may take longer to recover than males.

It's part of growing evidence that healing from this common sports injury is more complicated than once thought, an important message for parents and coaches as school sports programs gear up for fall.

Concussions are brain injuries and among the most difficult of sports injuries, starting with even identifying who's had one. Many athletes never lose consciousness,

the most obvious symptom.

Ironically, in my experience in the university culture, it was the students who were most accepting of such a solution — to many of them, race has never been much of a consideration, until they received the requisite leftwing “consciousness raising” — while it was the university that spent much of its time tut-tutting student willingness to “forget” about racial differences, as well as “correct” their innate refusal to Balkanize.

And I suspect that such a curricula has to do with the sad fact that, after years of catering to race and “diversity” issues, too many careers are on the line to let intellectual rigor, which involves at least the willingness to consider a change in strategy, get in the way of a professional status quo, and a lifelong defense of what it turns out was a remarkably simplistic and dangerous multiculturalist worldview.

“Diversity” — inasmuch as it remains committed to the superficial — is simply an extension of bad racial politics

clipper's remarks: The swimmers and coaches attribute 5 gold medals (so far), most won with world-record times, to the Speedo Lazer suit. NASA's expertise in engineering friction-reducing materials as coatings on rockets and other spacecraft to reduce drag as they travel through the atmosphere.

Many people are unaware of the fact that in addition to sending men and machines into space, NASA also functions as a technology broker to private industry (they are forbidden by law from profiting from research they sponsor). The development of integrated circuits was spurred by the fact that US rockets were much less powerful than the USSR's, so we had to reduce weight by designing lighter components. Without NASA, computers and other microprocessor-driven machines would be 20 or more years behind where they are now.

The Speedo LZR Racer swimsuit, designed with input from NASA, has made a huge splash, cannon-balling into the consciousness of people who do not know a flip turn from Flipper. Since the swimsuit was introduced in February, swimmers wearing it have sped to 22 of the 23 world records set.

“It’s exceeded our expectations,” said Stu Isaac, a senior vice president for sales and marketing at Speedo.

Dara Torres, a sprinter who will try to make her fifth Olympic team at the United States trials in Omaha this summer, said the suit helped her to move through the water “like a knife through butter.” Torres is a spokeswoman for Speedo.

William Randolph Hearst (Citizen Kane) and the Hearst Paper Manufacturing Division of Kimberly Clark owned vast acreage of timberlands. The Hearst Company supplied most paper products. Patty Hearst's grandfather, a destroyer of nature for his own personal profit, stood to lose billions because of hemp.

In 1937, Dupont patented the processes to make plastics from oil and coal. Dupont's Annual Report urged stockholders to invest in its new petrochemical division. Synthetics such as plastics, cellophane, celluloid, methanol, nylon, rayon, Dacron, etc., could now be made from oil. Natural hemp industrialization would have ruined over 80% of Dupont's business.

Andrew Mellon became Hoover's Secretary of the Treasury and Dupont's primary investor. He appointed his future nephew-in-law, Harry J. Anslinger, to head the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Secret meetings were held by these financial tycoons. Hemp was declared dangerous and a threat to their billion dollar enterprises.

But could the key be, not in words “end of the world” but rather, in the words “as we know it.” The possibility that our minds can map out our destiny gives us hope.

Some speculate that Mayan Calendar interprets December 21, 2012 to be the day that the world will end. While there are others who believe that there will be a shift in the human consciousness reality. While it is relatively certain that there will be a year 2012, what will happen after that is anyone’s guess really.

The process of training your mind may seem daunting but it actually is very easy because, after all, it’s a natural process. For the most part, we just don’t realize that we do it every day. Granted, our thoughts are mostly negatively based but if we can harness that process and tweak with a positive foundation instead, imagine the good we could do for ourselves and others.

Rigorous study hailed as landmark

Using unusually rigorous scientific conditions and measures, Johns Hopkins researchers have shown that the active agent in “sacred mushrooms” can induce mystical/spiritual experiences descriptively identical to spontaneous ones people have reported for centuries.

The resulting experiences apparently prompt positive changes in behavior and attitude that last several months, at least.

The agent, a plant alkaloid called psilocybin, mimics the effect of serotonin on brain receptors-as do some other hallucinogens-but precisely where in the brain and in what manner are unknown.

Sacred Geometry

Yeats wrote about Geometry as Spiraling Gyres or Cones, The Diamond and the Hourglass, The Wheel, The Phases of the Moon, and more.

One of Yeats' theory centers on a diagram composed of two conical spirals, one situated inside the other, so that the widest part of one cone occupies the same plane as the tip of the other cone, and vice versa. Around these cones he imagined a set of spirals. Yeats claimed that this image of the gyre, a spiraling form or swirling vortex, captured contrary motions inherent within the process of history, and he divided each gyre into different regions that represented particular kinds of historical periods (and could also represent the phases of an individual's psychological development).

Yeat's Theories About Gyres, and related links Yeats uses the word 'gyre' in many of his poems, including The Second Coming. This is a metaphor for the return to consciousness or the Christ Consciousness, One and the Same.

A blonde tries to go horseback riding even though she has had no lessons or prior experience she mounts the horse unassisted and the horse immediately springs into action.

It gallops along at a steady rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to lose her grip and starts to slide in the saddle.

In terror, she grabs for the mane but can't seem to get a firm grip.

She tries to throw her arms around the horses neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway. The horse gallops along, seemingly impervious to it's slipping rider.

Unfortunately, the blondes foot has become entangled in the stirrup.

She is now at the mercy of the hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over again.

As her head is battered against the ground she is moments away from losing consciousness when, to her great fortune.

The Woolworth's Manager sees her and unplugs the horse.
