Yesterday, McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace dismissed the fact that Gov. Sarah Palin has yet to take any questions from the press. “So what?” she scoffed. Today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, campaign strategist Rick Davis suggested Palin might never sit down for an interview if, he said, it’s “in our best interest” to keep her away from the media:

Biscotti

5 1/2 cups flour

2 cups cocoa powder

2 cups sugar

1 cup butter

2 tbsp baking powder

2 cups semi-sweet gourmet chips

3 tbsp aged rum

6 eggs

1 cup chopped pecans

Chocolate Rum Drizzle

1 cup chocolate chips

3 tbsp aged rum

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream sugar and butter. Beat eggs, one at a time, until smooth and add aged rum. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the egg mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Shape the dough into 3 loaves about 1 1/2 inch thick and brush with beaten egg yolk. Bake 25 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Cut each loaf into 1 inch slice and place back on the baking sheet. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and place slices back into the oven. Bake another 25 minutes, then remove from the oven and cool. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate, transfer to a room temperature bowl, mix in 3 tbsp rum, and drizzle over the biscotti. Makes the perfect holiday pastry!

Enjoy this incredible treat with a cup of fresh roasted coffee, steaming cocoa, or ice cold milk.

Saimir Strati

Saimir Strati (Vlora, Albania, April 11, 1966) is an Albanian artist who is regarded as one of the world's most well known modern mosaic artists.

He has used materials including nails, toothpicks, corks, sea glass, eggshells, compact discs, coffee beans, porcelain and mirror glass among other materials. He is also a painter.

Sinaloa

Seafood is wrapped into tamales all along Mexico's Pacific coast.

Nayarit

South of Sinaloa, in the state of Nayarit, shrimp tamales may be filled with fresh or dried shrimp, often accompanied by roasted tomatillos, onions, garlic, chiles, cilantro and pineapples; ground chilacate or guajillo peppers and shrimp powder is traditionally added to the dough.

Michoacán

Instead of being wrapped around fillings, the masa itself is made with the traditional doblecrema (a creamy, salty cheese), and roasted poblano pepper strips; a variety of other ingredients may be mixed in. Most of the spice comes from the simple green sauce of tomatillos and hot chile peron.

Australian researchers say just one can of the popular stimulant energy drink Red Bull can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, even in young people. In a recent study, scientists found that the caffeine-loaded beverage--popular with university students and adrenaline sport fans--caused the blood of normal, healthy adults to become sticky, a precursor to cardiovascular problems such as stroke. A spokesperson for Red Bull responded to the study by saying these findings do not show effects that would go beyond that of drinking a cup of coffee and are therefore normal.
