Here's how I'd put it: there isn't a marriage failure that isn't also (and more fundamentally) a failure of discipleship, a failure as a Christian. I have thought that more times than I can possibly count, wanted to say, "You don't get this. It isn't simply that you need to be a more faithful husband/wife. You need to be a more faithful Christian. This isn't just about you and Mary/Bob. This is about you and Jesus."

<clipSource>http://teampyro.blogspot.com/2008/08/marital-jollity-thought-provokers.html</clipSource>

The connection between Christian science and rehab

clipped by: jimmy123

Clip Source: www.12step.com

When one takes a look at Mary Baker Eddy's life and writings, the words 12 Steps do not appear. Naturally and correctly one would assume that she lived well before the 12 Steps and Bill Wilson's fateful meeting with Rev. Sam Shoemaker occurred. Despite her lack of direct input into the development of A.A. and the 12 Steps there are some clear correlations between the two out looks.

Mary Baker Eddy published countless works and developed a movement that now boasts 400,000 adherents. Christian Science publishes a daily Christian Science Monitor and a monthly journal. In recent times Christian Scientists have been accused of neglect as their refusal to seek medical intervention has caused unfortunate deaths. Despite the controversies, it is clear that Baker's Christian Science did much to influence to world of addiction recovery healing through spirituality.

Tags: addiction, religion, christian science

<clipSource>http://www.12step.com/baker.html</clipSource>

Cardinal Egan joins criticism of Nancy Pelosi’s abortion remarks

clipped by: Efrain Alvarado
clipper's remarks: “Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception…Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. Within the last 24 hours, the archbishops of Denver, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C., along with Bishop William Lori have all publicly upbraided the Speaker of the House for her erroneous comments on the Church’s abortion teaching.

“What the Speaker had to say about theologians and their positions regarding abortion was not only misinformed; it was also, and especially, utterly incredible in this day and age.”

Archbishop of Washington D.C. Guitar Praise is an, er, Christian knock-off of Guitar Hero. "Grab the guitar and play along with top Christian bands! Shred those riffs or blast the bass…you add a unique sound to the solid Christian rock." Seriously. confiscated their 300 Bibles, the group's director said Monday.

Customs officials discovered the Bibles during an X-ray scan of their luggage, said Pat Klein, director of the group, which supplies Bibles and other Christian material to people in China and other countries.

Under Chinese law, it is illegal to bring printed religious material into the country if it exceeds the amount for personal use. The group distributes the Bibles through a local shop owner in Kunming, according to Klein

The group spent the night at the airport, and Chinese customs officials told them they had broken the law and repeatedly asked them to leave the airport, Klein said. Sinai in Israel. It shows two robed Christian saints. Between them is a traditional Roman ‘pronubus’ (a best man), overseeing a wedding. The pronubus is Christ. The married couple are both men.

These church rites had all the symbols of a heterosexual marriage: the whole community gathered in a church, a blessing of the couple before the altar was conducted with their right hands joined, holy vows were exchanged, a priest officiatied in the taking of the Eucharist and a wedding feast for the guests was celebrated afterwards. These elements all appear in contemporary illustrations of the holy union of the Byzantine Warrior-Emperor, Basil the First (867-886 CE) and his companion John.

In an interesting twist on the American experience, prayer will remain legal in schools - after all, it has no truth value. But everything that takes place on the curriculum's time will have to be secular. "Pupils must be protected from every sort of fundamentalism," said the minister for schools, Jan Björklund.

Creationism and ID are explicitly banned but so is proselytising even in religious education classes. It's not easy to make the infamous Willie Horton ad from the 1988 presidential campaign seem benign. But suggesting that Barack Obama is the Antichrist might just do it.

Attacks on their campus have forced students at a Christian college in Indonesia’s capital to take refuge in tents and in the lobby of the parliament building for nearly a month, while the theology school has agreed to relocate out of a predominantly Muslim neighborhood, the Associated Press reported.

The first assaults on the Arastamar Evangelical School of Theology, which is also known as Seta College, took place on July 25, when residents of the neighborhood in Jakarta entered the campus with machetes and Molotov cocktails. Eighteen students were injured in the clashes, and administrators evacuated the five dormitories after a second night of attacks.

Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim country, has traditionally tolerated minority religions. But recently, radical groups have attacked churches and even mosques that oppose a hard-line doctrine.

Tags: indonesia, muslims, islam, islamofascism, christianity, college

<clipSource>http://chronicle.com/news/article/5054/christian-college-in-indonesia-will-relocate-after-violent-attacks</clipSource>
