Proponents of net-neutrality"people who believe that everyone should be free to do whatever they please on the Internet without interference or limitation so long as they pay their monthly bill"forsee a future where ISPs will milk money out of their subscribers by instituting a tiered system of Intenet provision. People would only be able to access more bandwidth by paying more money. Even worse, they could “throttle,” or choke out the connection, of anyone found doing anything with their connection that they didn’t approve of, controlling the sites you were able to visit.

Clip Source: blog.sherweb.com

Internet Wars: The Ongoing Battle Over How the Web is Run

The Internet is the new frontier and everyone is scrambling to decide who gets to do what, when, and how. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be?

<clipSource>http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434409/quotes</clipSource>

How to Bypass “This video is not available in your country”

clipped by: thisnamecantbetaken
clipper's remarks: Both workarounds above are brilliant and work like a charm. Also, if someone posts a youtube on CM, for example, and I get the dreaded *not available in your country" message, you can't even see what the youtube was supposed to be! So, to get around that, I just do a Google search for the youtube URL itself and the top search result will tell you the title and exactly what video they want to keep from you. Then I just paste that title into youtube's search box and voila!

I hope this will help others who also HATE that damned *not available* message.

Enjoy. .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pXWTG7XzH4

Clip Source: www.sheeptech.com

You might not notice this if you are staying in US, but some YouTube videos, especially official music videos, are restricted to viewers from the United States only. Whenever a viewer from outside US wants to view those videos, YouTube says “This video is not available in your country“.

Workaround #1 – Using Hide My Ass!

Hide My Ass! works flawlessly in bypassing the YouTube region filter. As Hide My Ass! streams YouTube video using its own player, it will prevent the YouTube player from displaying the “We’re sorry, this video is no longer available” message. The server is located in US, therefore videos restricted to US viewers will play without a problem.

Workaround #2 – Convert & Download Using Zamzar

Alternatively, you can use Zamzar to convert the YouTube video into any video format, then download and watch it locally. You might want to try other YouTube video downloaders too, but I have no luck so far.

Censorship? The “virtual private network” tool is already used by millions of users in places such as China and Iran, where it’s illegal to get to uncensored sites such as Twitter or YouTube. The tool is supported by seven languages, and it is issuing a version for the Macintosh today.

<clipSource>http://venturebeat.com/2009/10/20/hotspot-shield-lets-users-get-around-web-censorship-anonymously/</clipSource>

St. Louis pays $80,000 for censoring Christians Banned speech at 'gay' pride festival

clipped by: Normn8or
clipper's remarks: Full article here.... http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=113841

Clip Source: www.wnd.com

St. Louis pays $80,000 for censoring Christians

Banned speech at 'gay' pride festival

Posted: October 23, 2009

11:45 pm Eastern

By Bob Unruh
pushing for a consumer protection solution that

ethical journalism standards that have been codified
by the Society of Professional Journalists (Ethics:

A News Quality Rating System and Content Labeling
approach, follows a tradition of consumer protection
product labeling, that is very familiar to Americans.
The ratings are anti-censorship and can benefit
              consumers.

In its six-page written decision, the Court of

Commission position against news distortion is only a
"policy," not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation.
Fox aired a report after the ruling saying it was
