History of written language and script:
The English language originated in about the 5th century. The English dialects were formed after the invasion of Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Frisians into Celtic lands in 449 A.D. Influenced by the Latin writing system, older forms of English developed into modern English in about the 17th century. In the mid 18th century, the English language system was divided into two, British and American English, and this is characterized by the loss of postvocalic ‘r’ and the secondary stress in suffixes. (Strazny, p. 288, 293) Following the industrial revolution in Britain in the 18th century, English spread to different continents around the world and gained the status of official language in many other countries, such as Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

The following is by no means an indictment of the religion called Wicca. Wicca is indeed a valid and powerful path for those who truthfully walk it and understand it. However, there is a body of people who believe that Wicca is the descendant of the religious ways of the Gaelic or other Celtic peoples (or 'Celts' as a general nomenclature). This simply is not the case.

The following is a brief comparison of the Wiccan religion and Celtic religion. The purpose of this exercise is to dispel the notion that Wicca is Celtic, or derived from Celtic religion.

The people who make the statement that Wicca is Celtic are usually of two sorts. These are the new people who either for their own reasons truly believe this to be the case, or they have fallen prey to some unscrupulous teacher who uses the allure of things "Celtic" to draw in new students or ensure profits.

In both cases the problem is exacerbated by the fact that solid information is not easily accessible to the general public.

This a parallel presentation of the works of Julius Caesar in Latin and English translation. This includes his Gallic Wars and Civil Wars, plus three shorter works which may have been written by Aulus Hirtius (who is also credited with the 8th book of the Gallic Wars). Beyond its importance as a source document for military and Roman history, Caesar's clean prose style has long made his Gallic Wars the text of choice for second-year Latin. It is also of interest because of his first-hand observations of the Celtic tribes that he was waging war on. For instance, refer to Book 6, which contains a long passage about Gaulish society, the Druids, and his famous description of the original burning man ritual.

Polytheism vs Monotheism

I speak additionally from my personal experience beginning in childhood. I was raised in a branch of Protestant Christianity which embraced some sense of separate triune personhood in the Divine. This is a broadening of the 'One God Unlimited' into THREE parts. Christians get past the problem of 'THREE Gods', by saying they are three-in-one, like the egg's 'yolk, whites and shell', thereby keeping the illusion of 'One God Unlimited'.

However, God the Father is seen as distant and impersonal, so his Son Jesus hears one's prayers, and the Holy Spirit is omnipresent in its influence on human hearts to choose the will of God. They function as three separate, but related deities. How is this really any different from the trinities of Roman, Celtic or Hindu classical religion?

Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but I don't want to "love Mankind" while failing to know and love with many particular "named" men and women! How abstract and empty such omission would be!

Green Goddess Dressing
1 avocado
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon herbes de provence
½ teaspoon celtic sea salt
3-5 drops stevia
1 cup water

Place all ingredients in a blender
Process on high speed until smooth and cream
Pour over your favorite salad greens
Store remaining dressing in a glass jar in fridge
Keeps for up to 5 days (if it lasts that long)
