What caught my eye in this clip is: the government (USA) "will begin paying interest on the reserves that banks leave on deposit."

Humm....we print the money...we give the money to the banks at super low interest rates...now the banks can give us back the money and charge us interest!?

The next big part of the plan is to buy unsecured loans for threatened banks that may go out of business.

Humm...Note: Other countries are buying assets
or Number One Preferred Stock...meaning they get paid first if these banks fail.

Also, rather than seeking to "inspire confidence," some suggest it would be better to dole out the cash for every new loan the banks make...which is what we want them to actually do.

A DEVICE which can produce a 360 degree picture by television through a stereoscope scanner has been invented by Leslie Gould, a radio engineer of Bridgeport, Connecticut. With Mr. Gould’s television system it is possible to televise a boxing match, a play, an orchestra, or any other spectacle whose scene of action can be compressed into a reasonable space.

The new invention makes use of neon tubes of various sizes and colors, depending upon

the magnitude of the image. The spot on which the television subject is located is scanned by beams from two rotating arms, as shown in the drawing above. At the extremity of each arm is a scanning drum containing a photo electric cell, which picks up the images to be televised.

Each electric eye catches the light reflected through the apertures in the revolving drums from the light portions of the body, and flashes to the transmitter the electric impulses set up by the variations in light.

One of the most truly terrifying things about the last eight years has been the triumph of ignorance. There has always been a tendency on the right to demonize intelligence, referring to educated, intelligent people as 'ivory tower elitists' and 'eggheads', and conflating brains with being 'out of touch' with the 'real folks'. But, until 2000, this tendency was not making national policy decisions.

George W. Bush, in celebrating his own lack of intellect and curiosity, has made a virtue of ignorance, and by breaking the glass ceiling on stupidity, demonstrated to those who already think this way that there are no limits to where ignorance can take you. He has also demonstrated that governing by ignorance is not only possible, but easily done, and that ignorance can beat intelligence, given the right set of circumstances.
