This would be a company that receives payments to support the usage of fossil fuels to offset the ridiculous carbon offset scams that are fraudulently bilking morons out of their money.

Here is how it would work. If your carbon footprint is lower than Al Gore's, then you pay carbon offset offsets to projects that increase the use of fossil fuels for the purpose of increasing your carbon footprint to equal that of Al Gore's.

Is this NOT BRILLIANT? And get this, it is not a scam. It is helping to defeat a scam and render the practice of scammers useless.

The eastern Colorado wind turbine tapped for the Democratic National Convention’s carbon-offset program has one problem: It doesn’t generate any electricity. Convention organizers are now being questioned for their eagerness to market those credits to delegates.

The DNC has contracted with Vermont-based NativeEnergy to offer delegates “Green challenge” carbon offsets to soften the environmental impact of convention travel. That money is then invested in carbon-free “green” energy sources around the country, including a wind turbine installed this year by the Wray School District RD-2. But a Face The State investigation reveals the district’s turbine has never produced marketable energy due to massive equipment malfunctions.

There's at least one airline CEO willing to put his money where his mouth is when it comes to paying for greenhouse gas emissions from commercial airliners. Virgin Group chairman Sir Richard Branson told attendees of a meeting on climate change Tuesday that all carriers should be willing to pay so-called "carbon offsets" against damaging emissions from their planes.

The Associated Press reports Branson told the Global Humanitarian Forum he is willing to lead by example, and offered to pay carbon-related taxes on his aviation-related businesses.

"If you run a dirty business -- an airline business, a shipping business, ... coal business, you should pay for the privilege because you are doing damage," Branson said.

That position was applauded by the head of the forum, former United Nation's chief Kofi Annan. "We must recognize that the polluter must pay, and not the poor and vulnerable," Annan said. "We must have climate justice."

The Great American Run descended from the Cannonball Run, the celebration of unfettered speed moto-journalist Brock Yates founded in 1971. The only point was crossing the country as quickly as possible. It was blatantly illegal and wildly popular -- it's spawned two movies and several imitators - until the 55 mph speed limit and a lot of heat from the cops shut it down in 1979. In light blue banners throughout the papers — as well as on their Web site, Philly.com — Derrie-Air cheerily trumpets its policy: The more you weigh, the more you pay. The ads direct readers to the Web site http://www.flyderrie-air.com.

Visitors to the airline site learn that Derrie-Air is the world's only carbon-neutral luxury airline, and it justifies its fare policy by saying that it takes more fuel to move heavier objects. The carrier pledges to plant trees to offset every pound of carbon its planes release into the atmosphere.

Derrie-Air's sample rates range from $1.40 per pound to fly from Philadelphia to Chicago to $2.25 per pound to fly from Philadelphia to Los Angeles.

A disclaimer labels the ad campaign "fictitious" and says it is designed "to test the results of advertising in our print and online products and to stimulate discussion on a timely environmental topic of interest to all citizens."

"In other words," it says, "smile, we're pulling your leg."

Former Vice President Al Gore in an interview on NPR’s May 6 “Fresh Air” broadcast did just that. He was interviewed by “Fresh Air” host Terry Gross about the release of his book, “The Assault on Reason,” in paperback.

What Is Carbon Credit?

Emissions limits and trading rules vary country by country, so each emissions-trading market operates differently. For nations that have signed the Kyoto Protocol, which holds each country to its own C0₂ limit, greenhouse gas-emissions trading is mandatory. In the United States, which did not sign the environmental agreement, corporate participation is voluntary for emissions schemes such as the Chicago Climate Exchange. Yet a few general principles apply to each type of market.

The commitment a company makes to curb its pollutant output is an increasingly public aspect of strategy.

Let’s say a company can’t afford to modify its operations to reduce C0₂. Purchasing carbon credits or offsets buys it time to figure out how to operate within C0₂ limits.

Each credit a company buys on the Chicago Climate Exchange — usually for about $2 — means another company will remove the equivalent of one metric ton of carbon.

ecocho.co.nz is a site that generates positive environmental gains by sponsoring the growth of up to two trees for every 1000 searches users make using the search engines Yahoo! and Google. A worldwide version is available at www.ecocho.com and an Australian version is available at www.ecocho.com.au.

The site uses custom Google and Yahoo! searches as the foundation for its branded service, and uses the income from advertising to plant trees.

Founder of ecocho, Tim Macdonald said, “In New Zealand alone, web users conduct close to 120 million Internet searches each month, and if we could capture just one per cent of that traffic, we would make a significant contribution towards lowering the impact of harmful greenhouse gas emissions”.

Aussie brewery goes "green"

SYDNEY (AFP) - Feeling green after drinking alcohol has taken on a new meaning in Australia with a brewer launching a beer that it says helps fight global warming.

All the greenhouse gases produced through the life of a Cascade Green, from the picking of the hops to the empty bottle landing in the recycling bin, have been offset, the company said.

This is done by purchasing certified carbon offsets from the government-accredited Hobart Landfill Flare Facility, which captures and recycles gases

Cascade Green's marketing manager Ben Summons said all of the carbon offset costs of the new beer will be absorbed by the company and will not be passed on to consumers

The beer, which is also low carbohydrate and is classified as a "premium" beer, will sell for 17.99 dollars (16.97 US) for a six-pack of 330ml bottles.

"Cascade Green is a great example of innovation that taps into consumer trends but also from a Cascade perspective it's a natural evolution for us."
