You made your move absolutely correctly according to what you wanted to do. To "short" something is to sell something you don't have. When you sell a call or a put, unless you previously bought one, you don't have it. In trading lingo, you are short that call or put because you sold it. So, if you have 100 shares of the underlying issue and shorted 1 call for that issue, you have written a covered call.

To close the position you can either buy to close it, or let it expire and chance that you won't get exercised. Depending on the underlying issue, exercise occurs very rarely compared to the person who bought your call "selling to close" instead of exercising you.

You might like to check out some option tutorials too to help you with the the vocabulary and such. I think you'll be much more comfortable with the workings of options after you know all of the jargon. I like http://www.investopedia.com/university/ for some easy-to-follow, wide-ranging topics.

That's the estimated number of times the Ozark police tasered 16-year-old Mace Hutchinson whom they found lying underneath a highway overpass with a broken back that apparently resulted from fall. (News item here.) The police had been summoned by a 911 call that, one presumes, was placed by people who wished to help the teenager. Mace did not obey the policemen's orders but spoke incoherently instead and, so, they tasered him up to 19 times -- each time repeating the command -- before one of the police wondered aloud whether they should call an ambulance. In intensive care for the broken back and broken heel, Mace had to wait two days for surgery because the tasering had raised his white blood count and caused a fever.

Armed 85-year-old woman makes intruder call cops

An 85-year-old woman boldly went for her gun and busted a would-be burglar inside her home, then forced him to call police while she kept him in her sights, police said. "I just walked right on past him to the bedroom and got my gun," Leda Smith said.

Smith heard someone break into her home Sunday afternoon and grabbed the .22-caliber revolver she had been keeping by her bed since a neighbor's home was burglarized a few weeks ago.

"I said 'What are you doing in my house?' He just kept saying he didn't do it," Smith said.

After the 17-year-old boy called 911, Smith kept holding the gun on him until state police arrived at her home in Springhill Township, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh.

The boy will be charged with attempted burglary and related offenses in juvenile court, Trooper Christian Lieberum said. He was not identified because of his age.

[ 1 ] Duplicate the original layer (we'll call this "LAYER1") and place it above that layer. (We'll call this "LAYER2")

[ 2 ] Change the Blending option of LAYER2 to "Overlay"

[ 3 ] Go to Image > Adjustements > Desaturate (SHIFT + CTRL + U)

[ 4 ] Now invert LAYER2: Image > Adjustements > Invert (CTRL + I)

[ 5 ] And add a gaussian Blur to it (Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur) around 40 pixels

[ 6 ] Now duplicate LAYER1 and place it above LAYER2, name this layer "LAYER3"

[ 7 ] Change the blending type of LAYER3 to "Linear Light"

[ 8 ] Give LAYER3 an opacity around 62%. And you're done (For better results, tweak this percentage)
