Several folks on this and other sites pointed out how much money they would pay for a child-free flight. You know what? I'd pay just as much for a child-friendly flight - where reasonably behaved kids can fly without fear of glares from miserable old ladies, put-off hipsters, and misanthropic businessmen…

Indeed, when we took our son on his first cross-country flight, he had a bad time. He screamed, he was in pain from the air pressure, and generally wasn't a happy camper. People were okay, but I still remember That Guy. He came up to me and said, "I have two kids. I've been where you are. Hang in there, it'll get better."

In my life, I love my wife, my child, my family, a handful of close friends, and That Guy. I hope he's finding money or falling in love or getting elected mayor somewhere right now.

As the father of a three year old boy, I've become much more attuned to the way that people treat children. What astounds me is how much, as a society, we tend to despise children.
I want to first reiterate that I can't stand bad parents or bad children, either. There are parents who are over-permissive to the point of absurdity. There are kids who are just hyper or obnoxious.
But anyone who's been in charge of a toddler for more than three minutes knows that even the most perfect parent in the entire world can't prevent or stop every tantrum.
I don't like screaming in my ear, either. I also don't like people who wrestle the armrest away from me, people who lean their seat ALL the way back, and people who claim their suitcase is a purse and cram the overhead compartment with too many bags. But that's life. That's what traveling by air means. Heck, that's what it means to live in this world.

Narendra Modi Swine Flu

Narendra Modi Swine Flu – Western Gujarat state chief minister, Narendra Modi, tested positive for the A(H1N1) virus, 2 days after his return from a business trip to Russia has tested positive for swine flu.

News sent a wave of panic among the group of top businessmen in India who had accompanied him on his visit to Russia.

‘All facilities for isolation and medical treatment (have) been arranged at the official residence of the chief minister,’ the statement said, adding that Modi was responding to treatment.

Swine flu has claimed more than 450 lives in India since the first death was reported on August 3.

The Camera Club of the Philippines is an association of photography enthusiasts. It is the oldest continuing photographic society in the country, perhaps even in Asia. Founded on August 19, 1928, it existed without a break except for a brief period in 1942-46 because of the Japanese occupation.

Swine Flu Suit Developed for the Concerned Businessman

With the introduction of a snazzy anti-flu suit that is designed to fend off swine flu, Japanese businessmen can now happily get rid of chunkier protective gear.

Created by a Japanese apparel company called Haruyama Trading Co., this sleek suit is supposed to break down and kill any traces of the virus found on the outfit itself.

The secret ingredient is titanium dioxide which is supposed to eliminate 40% of the virus in just a matter of hours. Incidentally, this is the same chemical folks use in toothpaste and cosmetics.

The manufacturers also assure consumers that the virus fighting coating will still work even after being through the wash a few times.

Looking classy seems to be key to this invention as the suit is available in four suave colors – namely, medium grey, charcoal, navy and a grey pinstripe.

The company has thus far created around 50 000 suits where each one is priced at around $590.

American businessmen to meet with Erik Buell with view to keeping production alive

A GROUP OF American businessmen are looking to take over the Buell name and keep motorcycle production going, following Harley-Davidson's shock announcement last week that the company is to be axed.

The Walworth County Economic Development Alliance has formed a team of officials from the Village of East Troy, Walworth County Board and East Troy Chamber of Commerce, according to an economic development alliance news release.

The company's factory and HQ is currently based at East Troy, Wisconsin. It's reported the takeover bid would see production kept at the plant, which employs around 170 people.

Reports say, the team is planning to meet with company founder Erik Buell with a view to saving the defunct business.

A London-based translation company is advertising in a Glasgow newspaper for Glaswegian interpreters.

"Translation company seeks speakers of Glaswegian English with knowledge of vocabulary, accent, nuances, to meet interpreting needs of clients who find it an unexpected challenge," the ad reads.

It was placed by Today Translations which said the advert was in response to requests from visitors and foreign businessmen, reports The Times.

The company said that Glasgow was the only city in the UK for which it was seeking interpreters, but Liverpool and Newcastle could be next on the list.

Jurga Zilinskiene, the owner of the company, is a Lithuanian who has lived in Britain for many years and speaks fluent English.

She told how she ran into difficulties this summer when she was in Lanark on holiday and spent some time with Glaswegians.
