Try Obopay
Use any mobile phone to get, send, or spend money. Text message, use your phone’s Internet browser, or download Obopay onto your phone. I haven’t tried it yet, but it seems that it’s the only such a site you can find on the internet.
The authors report: “Honestly, who wants to lug around a wallet, wait in long lines at the bank or get caught empty handed? With Obopay, all you need is a mobile phone and your friend’s mobile number. That’s it. Whether you choose to use Obopay via text messaging, your phone’s Internet browser or download Obopay onto your phone. There’s no better way to go mobile with money”.

On the whole it seems more useful for children than for older people. The idea is simple, but effective and in some cases it may turn out to be useful.

Businesshackers mark (based just on first impression): 6/10
According to wikipedia Bookcrossing is defined as

“the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise”. The term is derived from BookCrossing.com, a free online book club which began and encouraged the practice. There are also short hand terms for BookCrossing which are: BC, BCing, or BXing. A person who engages in bookcrossing is called a bookcrosser or BookCrosser”.

The idea is very simple but extremely nice. I will definitely try it as soon as possible.

The original BookCrossing club has over 500,000 members. Its stated goal is to “make the whole world a library”. One of the main ways the project has been funded is by member donations, though funding has also come from the online BookCrossing supply store and advertisements for a number of book-related websites on BookCrossing.com.

Find out more: link
The reason why authors suggest using it is: 1) Snap gives you a visual preview of each result BEFORE you click on it…and that improves your odds of picking the right search, without clicking back-and-forth several times. 2) Snap incorporates user feedback in the form of post-search click-stream analysis, ranking search listings based on the successful outcomes of users who made the same queries. Our ‘Snap Rank’ algorithm orders its results by combining the best of algorithmic calculations with an understanding of human intentions, which greatly improves the quality and relevancy of results, and avoids the dead-ends that come from ’spammed’ results (See ‘How does Snap Rank work’, just below). 3) Snap gives you suggestions for your search BEFORE you actually submit your search…again improving your odds of finding what you’re looking for faster. Snap combines these innovations, making it easier and faster to get reliable outcomes from your searches.

2. Dogpile
Dogpile was built to give users the best search results available on the Web. This is accomplished by searching all the most popular engines and retrieving the best combined results.
The authors of the website report that:
“The inspiration for Dogpile came when its founders noticed that different search engines often return different results for the very same term. The more engines they searched the more results they found. Following this discovery, the founders set out to create a way to bring the Web’s best search engines together in one place to deliver more comprehensive and relevant results.
To capture this idea, the founders borrowed a sports term used to describe players piling on top of one another in the celebration and the Dogpile search engine was born!”

Tags: .investments, adsense, applications, business, businesshackers, businesshackers.com, businessmen, digg, economy, euro, euros, find, hefner, internet, interview, serch, posts, politics, network, net, movement, money, krugman, italia, investments

<clipSource>http://www.businesshackers.com/</clipSource>

Measuring Blogs’ ROI…

clipped by: They don’t even need to setup an account. After the Flash plugin is installed, users can immediately make calls - albeit limited to 5 free minutes of calling per day “to just about any phone number”. They can get 10 minutes free calling if they register with an email address and can also buy Call Out minutes. Besides PSTN phones, Gizmo Call users can call for free Google Talk users, Windows Live users, Gizmo Project users and any SIP address/device. There’s also a feature enabling users to customize their CallerID, so when they make a web call it can appear to come from their mobile or office phone. Plus, being a browser-based service, users can integrate Gizmo Call into their blogs and social network pages.

You do need to download a 1MB Flash plugin for Gizmo Call to work, so it’s not a download-free browser app. However it’s a once-only install and it lowers the bar for consumers wanting to start using VoIP.

Readwriteweb reports: VoIP company SIPphone is at DEMO today, where it is launching Gizmo Call - an online service that makes VoIP phone calls possible from any web browser. It works via a Flash plugin, which enables users to make calls simply by typing a phone number into a text-field in a browser. Users can also use URLs like http://gizmocall.com/18005551212 (that link is an example only and will not work). Gizmo Call is separate from SIPphone’s other app, The Gizmo Project, which is a download VoIP app like Skype.

Gizmo call… free phone calls (to cell phones or land lines)

Tags: adsense, applications, businesshackers, business, .investments, businesshackers.com, businessmen, digg, economy, euro, euros, find, hefner, internet, interview, investments, job, italia, krugman, money, movement, net, network, politics, posts, serch

<clipSource>http://www.businesshackers.com/</clipSource>

Increase adsense profits by 300%… how to do it in a month…

clipped by: ddszczupak
clipper's remarks: One of the main sources of revenue for bloggers in particular is adsense. One of the main sources of revenue for bloggers in particular is adsense. Let me share 7 secrets that will allow you to maximize profits:

1. try to mix images and text ads… there is nothing more annoying than watching text ads all around… images are far more profitable especially if the topic of your website is somehow “sexy”…

2. never add too many ads to a single page… no one will read your posts anymore… be careful…

3. try to find niche topics… if you are going to discuss cars your ads will be worth far less than if you wrote articles about loans or mortgages.

5. try to write about things that readers would like to read on more than one website… if they are reading about buying tickets they will probably check google ads about how o pay less…

4. keep your posts short… make posts simple and allow readers to relax…

6. try to avoid very long columns… if you put 5 ads in a row it will be very inefficient and profits will suffer because readers are unwilling to read such ads…

7. stick to writing high quality articles… posts you would like to read if you were to visit a website…

good luck!

If you are curious to know about high quality sources of economic news and data have a look at those websites:

This is actually a portal… an economic portal with a number of topics covered in it… News come from all over the world. There are articles about almost everything and from hundreds of different sources. It goes without saying that this is one of our favorite website even though it is not enough to find long articles or articles with comments and opinions. Anyway if you want to be up to data visit it.

2. http://www.worldpress.org/ Businesshackers’ mark: 7/10

No that’s not the Wordpress you are thinking about. It covers news mainly news from developing countries and to some extent can can be considered an alternative to biased newspapers from all over the world. It allows to add your own links. Businesshackers.com was included as well.

3. http://www.rtable.net/index/rt/economics/recent/
It is a good source of articles when you have time to analyse issues in detail or you really want to improve your economic knowledge. The quality of articles is enough to forget the bad graphics of the website. In a nutshell, “content is the king”.

This is sth that Digg users will really appreciate. It allows readers to vote and add articles. The main topic is finance but you can find a business site as well. It is highly selective for submitted articles and it should reflect what the opinion of readers is.

4. http://www.wikio.com/finance
But what exactly is a hedge fund? How is different than any other fund? And how do you get in on the action?

by: Jay Northco

Hedge funds are private investment partnerships that are usually offered to limited number of investors and require a significant initial minimum investment. Hedge funds are normally open to institutional or otherwise accredited investors. Those investors are also required to keep their money in the fund for a minimum period, usually one year.

Basically, hedge funds are mutual funds for the super-rich. They resemble mutual funds in the way investments are pooled and professionally managed, but they are significantly different in the way fund can cooperate.

Hedge funds are lightly regulated private funds that are usually characterized by unconventional investment strategies. These funds are generally more aggressively managed and use advanced investment strategies such as leverage, long, short and derivative positions in both domestic and international markets with the goal of generating high returns. Regular investment funds are usually limited to ‘going long” and buying bonds, equities or money market instruments. Hedge funds also have the ability to “short” those instruments they believe will fall in price. Hedge funds are thus able to create more complex investment structures which can profit in times of market volatility, or even in a falling market.

ddszczupak
clipper's remarks: Modern economics is nothing more than “Social Darwinism” (the politics — NOT the science) as first revealed by God to the Dominican Friar St. Thomas Aquinas 750 years ago, and then perfected by the Physiocrats 230 years ago. Unfortunately, God didn’t bother to reveal the Laws of Thermodynamics to St. Thomas at the same time as he was doing “free markets”. But then it’s not too surprising considering the fact that God also neglected to mention that the Earth orbited the Sun.

Clip Source: www.businesshackers.com

Five fundamental errors in economics

Modern economics is nothing more than “Social Darwinism” (the politics — NOT the science) as first revealed by God to the Dominican Friar St. Thomas Aquinas 750 years ago, and then perfected by the Physiocrats 230 years ago. A fundamentally incorrect “method”: the economist uses “correlation” and “post hoc, ergo propter hoc” (after-the-fact) reasoning, rather than the “scientific method” and biological theories of behavior:

#2. A fundamentally inverted world view: the economist sees the environment as a subsystem of the economy, rather than the other way around. In other words, economists are trained to believe that natural resources come from “markets” rather than the “environment”. The historical analogy is Johann Kepler and Tycho Brahe watching the dawn together. He claims that income inequality isn’t
dramatically worse now than 10 years ago, 20 years ago.
Cavuto to Krugman: ‘You Are Lying To People’, ThinkProgress:
Princeton economist and New York Times columnist Paul
Krugman went on Fox News this afternoon to talk about his new article in Rolling
Stone Magazine, “How the Super-Rich Are Screwing America.”

From ThinkProgress, Krugman versus Cavuto on Fox News:

Krugman’s article is about how income inequality is getting worse and, as a
result, even though some aggregate economic indicators are positive, most people
aren’t benefiting. Cavuto told Krugman, “Here’s what I’m saying that you’re
doing: You are lying to people.” Cavuto claims that income inequality isn’t
“dramatically worse now than 10 years ago, 20 years ago.”
Watch it…

Actually, Krugman is completely right: things are dramatically worse now than
10 or 20 years ago. Here’s a chart from the Economic Policy Institute that
tracks the ratio of the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans to median income in
the United States,

a standard measure of income inequality …

Full transcript:

CAVUTO: Here’s what I’m saying that you’re doing: You are lying to people.
That’s what I think that you’re doing.

KRUGMAN: I haven’t heard a lie yet. But, look, if that’s the way you want to
do it, I mean, fair and balanced, go all the way. Look, c’mon, the fact of the
matter is–

CAVUTO: No, no, you don’t have to be snide. You have to be factual.

KRUGMAN: You’re being snide.

CAVUTO: No, no, you’re mentioning good data. You’re saying there’s a growing
divide between the haves and have nots. Others have argued that very effectively
and very eloquently, just like you. All I’m saying is that the math that applied
now, can’t you apply it in other periods, when there have been Democratic
presidents who’ve had the same dislocations? You’re saying that it’s somehow
dramatically worse now than it was 10 years ago, 20 years ago?

Tags: .investments, applications, business, businesshackers, businesshackers.com, businessmen, digg, euro, internet, euros, investments, italia, italy, money, network, movement, political, politics, profits, strange, web 2.0, web, youtube, krugman, economy

<clipSource>http://www.businesshackers.com/2006/12/07/krugman-vs-cavuto-inequality/</clipSource>
