The story behind Google Chrome

Google released its second web browser yesterday afternoon, adding additional headroom for web applications stretching the limits of what it's possible to accomplish within a web browser. The Google Chrome team assembled domain experts in various fields over the past six years, both through direct hires and acquisitions, to create a new browser and its critical components from scratch. GMail and Google Maps pushed the Web to its limits, taking advantage of browser technologies invented in Redmond but left dormant for far too long. Contributing to Firefox's core, writing browser extensions, and championing HTML could only take the $150 billion company so far: they needed to own the full browser to push their Web efforts forward at full speed.

Facebook Scam

It looks like someone is trying to profit off of people misspelling the Facebook URL into their browser. The domain URL Facebok.com appears to be set up as some sort of CPA scam. I’m not sure that people that type “Facebok” into their browser were expecting to date cheating wives. The site randomly redirects users to various sites including a teen dating site, a free electronics site and others.

Google has proved to be a master of wooing consumers, charming new users by offering free versions of traditionally paid-for services.

With 70 per cent of the world's web searches going through Google's search engine, the company has built up a brand awareness so strong that the verb 'to Google' is already part of the lexicon. It's this popularity that could give Chrome a headstart and quickly turn it into a contender.

clipper's remarks: Wow. Read this and it will raise your eyebrows and make you wonder about Google. This appears in the Money report for good reason. Anyone noticed all the government, even CIA contracts, that Google has obtained lately? Consider how the "love of money is the root of all sorts of evil", and that surveillance and security merchandisers are driving the changes in government, globally, toward more totalitarian population control and that Google increasingly holds all the data and technological means they want.

The public image of Google should change based upon this and other evidence as it moves closer toward the globalist corporations and the fascism they are enabling and building by partnering with governments for revenue while the people's liberties are increasingly trampled and power becomes consolidated.

Is Chrome, Google's new browser, part of an ambitious effort by Google to own all of the world's data?

While we're transfixed by the presidential election, in the world of high tech another duel between two well-funded, take-no-quarter candidates has just emerged … and in the long run the impact on our daily lives may be nearly as great -- and perhaps even sinister.

As you probably heard, on Monday -- that is, on a national holiday, when business announcements are almost never made -- Google rolled out Chrome, its new Web browser.

why would a company that knows it has a solid and newsworthy product on its hands intentionally dampen media coverage of it?

If Google pulls off this strategy, it will be the most valuable company on the planet. It will also be the scariest … and we should start worrying about that right now.
