Universal has announced that The Incredible Hulk will be the studio's first Blu-ray release.

The Marvel Comics film, which stars Edward Norton and earned $250 million at the worldwide box office, will make its high-definition debut on October 13.

Extras exclusive to Blu-ray include deleted scenes, an alternate opening, a scene explorer and interactive BD-Live functions allowing viewers to chat to friends while watching the film and share their favourite clips.

The program scans damaged CD and DVD disks and produces a listing of files and folders on the media which it can recover. Be aware however that, depending on the degree of damage, there may be files that the application cannot recover.

In testing this product’s file recovery ability on a severely scratched and chipped disk, I’m happy to say that it recovered 934 files out of a total of 936, that Windows could not read, and it did this in less than 2 minutes.

Jenna Jameson has claimed that she will never spread her legs for the porn business again, but nothing is stopping her from pulling out her giant boobs for a horror movie! She found an acting job that doesn't require her to do what she usually was doing in the past. Instead, she plays a zombie stripper in a movie called, well... "Zombie Strippers".

It's supposedly inspired by the French existential Theatre of the Absurd play Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Blu-ray just in time for Halloween.

500gb disc

Pioneer engineers seem to love breaking barriers as they unveil a 500GB optical disc, throwing in an additional 100GB compared to the earlier 16-layer optical disc. This time round, you will get 25 layers crammed inside, and it can be manufactured to function just fine with Blu-ray players. I'm not too sure what to do with all that space on a single disc - perhaps Sony can release 20 full HD movies on a single disc in order to save on shipping costs? It will take around two to four years before this new optical disc is made available to the general public, making me wonder who is brave enough to be an early adopter when this is released.

The Luvaglio folks still seem a bit press shy -- either due to the info "leaked" last month, or a willful attempt to drum up interest -- but now they're back for more, and this time they've got a much better pic of this outlandishly priced laptop of theirs. Of course, it's pretty dang difficult to cram enough technology and precious materials into something this size to ever begin to justify that million dollar price tag, but the supposed Blu-ray, SSD and "full" upgradability specs have all piqued our interest in a theoretical sense -- much more fun than slapping some shiny stuff on the case and calling it good. The built-in USB memory stick / MP3 player, and "integrated screen cleaning" seem a bit odd, but hopefully all will be revealed in time. The extra fancy part is that the notebook can be built with the "owner's choice of precious metals, leathers and real woods,"

Sony's gaming division is quickly becoming a drain on its financial stability and shareholder confidence, while Microsoft is chugging along at a pretty good clip even though it has little influence in Asia. And although neither company can beat Nintendo alone, don't you think it's entirely possible that Microsoft and Sony could become a powerhouse in the industry if the former acquires the latter, thus making it a valuable idea?

Now is the prime moment for both of these companies to come together, strike a deal, and see Microsoft acquire Sony's games division. Microsoft is not only capable of writing a check for the division, it's fully aware that by acquiring Sony's third-party agreements, Blu-ray capability, and its worldwide presence, it can become an incredibly powerful force in the video game industry and solidify itself as a feared player going forward.

Spencer Kelly visits the Warner Bros archive in Los Angeles to meet the people painstakingly restoring old films using the latest technology.

All film deteriorates, end of the story. The 1962 epic How the West Was Won is a case in point.

The last 46 years have not been kind to the reels of film making up the multi-Oscar winning epic - the colour has faded, the landscape is marred by dirt and scratches, and there are strange vertical lines in every shot.

Ned Price is part of Warner Bros technical operations team and he said he is usually dealing with films which are turning to "powder".

"I'm dealing with film which is dehydrated, shrunken and buckled," he said. "As that happens the film shrinks and warps at an inconsistent rate.

For all film studios, it is important that old classics look pristine when they are resold on DVD and Blu-ray.
