Blind Thugs Loot Target

Justice is blind, all right — blind as a moonbat. The following is not a joke:

The Target retail chain will make its Web site accessible to the blind and pay $6 million to visually impaired Californians who have tried unsuccessfully to use the site, under a settlement announced Wednesday.

The nationwide settlement, filed with a federal judge in San Francisco, is intended as a model for the retail industry, said a lawyer for the National Federation of the Blind, which sued Target in 2006.

You would think Target would be in charge of how its website is designed, not some judge in San Francisco. After all, the website is Target's property, not the government's. But that's assuming there is still such a thing as private property, which is becoming increasingly disputable.

Next, blind people should start suing the makers of cars and cameras, which clearly discriminate in favor of people who can see.

Moo North: Cows Sense Earth's Magnetism

All Things Considered, August 25, 2008 · A new study suggests that cows sense the Earth's magnetic field and use it to line up their bodies so they face either north or south when grazing or resting.

The discovery was made by a team led by Hynek Burda of the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. "I think the really amazing thing is that hunters and herdsmen and farmers didn't notice it," Burda says.

Burda didn't set out to study cows. He normally studies small underground creatures called naked mole rats. They're blind, but have a kind of internal magnetic compass — they always build sleeping nests in the southern side of their little homes.

Burda wondered if sleeping humans might do something similar. He decided to look at camping tents and fired up Google Earth on his computer, to get an overhead view of campgrounds.

At over 3 million records, it's the largest in the world. He's trying to sell it due to his advancing age and health problems. Unfortunately, as he puts it, "no one gives a damn."

Paul's been building his collection for most of his life. He used to run a record store, and while running it he never sold the last copy of any album or single, instead keeping it for his archives. Over the years, those really added up.

Now, at an advancing age, stricken with diabetes and legally blind, Paul wants to sell the collection. It's been appraised at about $50 million, but Paul is asking a mere $3 million. He's had no serious offers, and an eBay auction back in February fell through.

Where are you feeling the pinch?

Rising food and energy prices have pushed UK consumer inflation up to 3.3%. How are higher prices affecting you?

I know its hard for people who are working, but how are the long term sick suppose to manage on their benefit when everything is coming to expensive to live? I'm am genuinely very poorly and very much afraid of what is going to happen. My choice is, do I pay for a prescription I really need or do I get the basics in food like bread and milk. I can also forget about being warm this winter. So much for the Government caring for the long term sick and disabled, we are the forgotten vunerable.
