WASHINGTON -- Darrel J. Vandeveld was in despair. The hard-nosed lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, a self-described conformist praised by his superiors for his bravery in Iraq, had lost faith in the Guantanamo Bay war crimes tribunals in which he was a prosecutor.

In a declaration and subsequent testimony, he said the U.S. government was not providing defense lawyers with the evidence it had against their clients, including exculpatory information -- material considered helpful to the defense.

Saying that the accused enemy combatants were more likely to be wrongly convicted without that evidence, Vandeveld testified that he went from being a "true believer to someone who felt truly deceived" by the tribunals. The system in place at the U.S. military facility in Cuba, he wrote in his declaration, was so dysfunctional that it deprived "the accused of basic due process and subject[ed] the well-intentioned prosecutor to claims of ethical misconduct."

Rocking second season- Review

I found second season as rocking, due to major changes brought in the storyline. How beautifully, the creators have changed the basic characters and introduced wonderful twists in their lives. The main attraction of the entire second season was Denise. I must appreciate the writers who transformed her house wife kind of image into a young girl in love with spontaneity. She behaves in this season like; a bird has just got out of cage and is anxious to fly for the first time.

So feel free not to vote. Just remember, if so many groups' main objective really were to strengthen democracy, America would have gotten rid of the electoral college by now.

The basic idea of quantum cryptography was worked out 25 years ago by Charles Bennett of IBM and Gilles Brassard of Montreal University, who was in Vienna to see the network in action.

"All quantum security schemes are based on the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, on the fact that you cannot measure quantum information without disturbing it," he explained.

"Because of that, one can have a communications channel between two users on which it's impossible to eavesdrop without creating a disturbance. An eavesdropper would create a mark on it. That was the key idea."

In practice this means using the ultimate quantum objects: photons, the atoms of light. Incredibly faint beams of light equating to single photons fired a million times a second raced between the nodes in the Vienna network.

The population of “negative pigs” (debt) can grow without limit since it is merely a number; the population of “positive pigs” (real wealth) faces severe physical constraints. The dawning realization that Soddy’s common sense was right, even though no one publicly admits it, is what underlies the crisis.

The agglomerating of mortgages of differing quality into opaque and shuffled bundles should be outlawed. One of the basic assumptions of an efficient market with a meaningful price is a homogeneous product.

He championed "emergence" - the notion that important kinds of organisation might emerge in systems of many interacting parts, but not follow in any way from the properties of those parts.

OK. Be gentle. I’m a newbie trying to learn! I’ve just created a shopping cart in Pay Pal and want to customise the pages with my own header. I’ve loaded the header into my normal graphics file, but Pay Pal say I need to have it on a secure server which starts with https:// . They say that “If the image is not stored on a secure server, your customer’s web browser will display a message that the payment page contains insecure items”. I have no idea how to do this and can’t seem to find instructions basic enough for me to understand. Can anyone help please? Could you also give me the full URL for the folder? Thanks guys.

Lacing boards are a great way for children to develop basic motor skills, and keep them quiet for a little while! I'm thinking these would be a perfect activity for my little guy while his big brother is in school. They can be pretty expensive, so we decided to make our own (of course!).

Children's Lacing Cards Tutorial

Here's what you'll need:

*Craft foam
*Scissors
*Pen
*Shape to trace
*1/4" hole punch

*Shoelace for lacing

1. We started with one piece of foam sheet from a local craft store. It was only 99 cents and large enough to make four or five lacing shapes.

2. Trace a shape on the foam with a pen. Try using some cute clip art. We used a cute Japanese coaster as our pattern. Cut it out. We used a smaller hole punch on this hedgehog to give him an eye.

3. Use hole punch to punch holes around the edge of the shape. You may choose to mark the holes evenly with a ruler before starting, but it's not necessary.

4. Add your favorite shoelace--that's it!
