The truly disgusting thing about Sarah Palin isn't that she's totally unqualified, or a religious zealot, or married to a secessionist, or unable to educate her own daughter about sex, or a fake conservative who raised taxes and horked up earmark millions every chance she got. No, the most disgusting thing about her is what she says about us: that you can ram us in the ass for eight solid years, and we'll not only thank you for your trouble, we'll sign you up for eight more years, if only you promise to stroke us in the right spot for a few hours around election time.

He pushed then for the very thing that he knows now brought down the economy, and seems to have no intention of admitting this.

It was obvious from word one that a plan that actually worked for the Common Man wasn’t going to get backing on the Hill and even if by some miracle it did Bush would veto it. The financiers have not the least interest in your ass, it’s all about theirs - and their $2 billion in bipartisan donations (44% to Dems, 56% to Repubs) since 1990 ensured that they were going to get theirs saved first.

I wish I were only talking to one camp. But I'm talking to my own, too. We "liberal elitists." Because we say the same kind of things when talking about "the average American." We assume we know them, and they are the same people Palin knows.

But honestly, I know for a fact, pretty much everyone I know who will read this is, statistically, demographically, Joe Six-Pack.

I think that institutional reputation has been damaged by two things: the sense that Democrats and Republicans would rather score partisan points off each other than look for ways to work together; and the frustration at Congress's inaction on the big issues of greatest concern to voters.

For two years, Congress has done nothing but acquiesce in Bush's decisions on Iraq and Afghanistan, despite public weariness with those wars. Basic systems -- health care, transportation, immigration, education, energy -- have become increasingly expensive even as they have failed to deliver promised results. And Congress has failed to improve them -- or even to bring substantive remedies to a vote.

Think Progress reports that the Bush administration have been playing politics with Iraq withdrawal plans, pressuring Maliki to delay an agreed withdrawal date by a year because the White House was concerned that Maliki’s endorsement of a 2010 time line would damage Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) presidential campaign. The revelation came in an al-Iraqiya interview with Maliki last week:

MALIKI: Actually, the final date was really the end of 2010 and the period between the end of 2010 and the end of 2011 was for withdrawing the remaining troops from all of Iraq, but they [the Bush administration] asked for a change [in date] due to political circumstances related to the domestic situation [in the US] so it will not be said to the end of 2010 followed by one year for withdrawal but the end of 2011 as a final date. Agreement has been reached on this issue. They are willing to respond positively because they, too, are facing a critical situation.

So, British sculptor Marc Quinn is ready to unveil his latest creation to the world, a nearly $2.8 million, 110-pound solid gold statue of the supermodel, hyped as the largest such creation built since ancient Egypt.

I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who's the ideal beauty of the moment.
