The average American is working two and half jobs, gets two weeks off, and has all the employment security of a one-armed trapeze artist. The Bush Administration has preached the "ownership society" to America: own your house, own your retirement account; you don't need the government in your way. So Americans mortgaged themselves to the hilt to buy overpriced houses they can no longer afford and signed up for 401k programs that put money where, exactly? In the stock market! Where rich Republicans fleeced them.

Vous est t-il déjà arrivé de vous poser la question suivante : comment draguer une fille? Si oui, vous êtes au bon endroit et ne vous en faites pas car vous n’êtes pas seul, loin de là. En fait, j’ai réalisé que beaucoup d’hommes se trouvaient dans cette situation suite à une petite anecdote qui s’est produite voilà environ un moi. Un de mes très grands amis venait de se séparer de sa blonde avec qui il avait formé un couple pendant 5 ans. Suite à leur rupture et suivant le conseil de notre gang de gars, il a décidé de sortir de sa torpeur et de rencontrer d’autres filles. Après quelques échecs lamentables il est venu me voir en me disant : « Alex, j’ai été avec ma blonde trop longtemps et maintenant j’ai pu l’tour pentoute. Peux-tu me montrer comment draguer une fille? »

Aujourd’hui Google, avec HSBC et quelques autres investisseurs, a placé une commande pour 16 satellites Thalès Alénia en orbite basse afin d’initier le déploiement du haut débit massif en Afrique.

Et au-delà, ils espèrent connecter les 3 milliards de personnes de par le monde qui n’ont pas accès au Web actuellement

Google et ses partenaires ont injecté 60 millions de dollars sur les 150 à 180 millions de dollars requis pour développer les réseaux O3b (O3b pour “other 3 billion”, c’est-à-dire “les autres 3 milliards”)

A good stock of new books. An independent. "Coliseum is vast and carries everything that is in somebody's mainstream; it is the only place I know, for example, to purchase a copy of QUOTATIONS OF CHAIRMAN MAO off the shelf." (But see below for a bookstore in Chinatown that also has it.) "Coliseum is large, and has a wide selection. I have not found the staff to be very helpful. I wanted to special order a book, and was told I could only do it Mon-Fri during daytime hours. Looking through the literature section, I found that they had nearly every single Martin Amis book, but none by Kingsley Amis--not even LUCKY JIM. They have a terrific poetry section." There are remainders downstairs. The basement is also where the posters and sports and arts etc. books are.

British Novelist Who "Despises Islamism" May Face Hate Crime Charges

An acclaimed British author could be charged with committing a hate crime after offering a scathing criticism of Islamic radicalism.

Ian McEwan, author of widely praised novels Atonement and Enduring Love, condemned Muslim extremists for attempting to establish a tyrannical society intolerant of women and homosexuals. His comments were made in the context of defending his friend and fellow novelist Martin Amis, who had previously been denounced as a racist for other supposedly anti-Islamic remarks.

He also attacked pro-Muslim political correctness. “As soon as a writer expresses an opinion against Islamism, immediately someone on the left leaps to his feet and claims that because the majority of Muslims are dark-skinned, he who criticizes it is racist,” he said.

L’actualité chinoise de ces deniers mois fut particulièrement sensible : crise au Tibet, manifestations autour du passage de la flamme, tremblement de terre au Sichuan… Parmi ce flot incessant d’informations, un événement est passé totalement inaperçu. Au mois de mars, l’ONG chinoise Les amis de la nature (ziran zhi you) a fait paraître un livre vert intitulé zhongguo huanjing de weiji yu zhuanji (2008) (Crise et tournant favorable de l’environnement en Chine (2008)). Ce rapport entend faire un bilan de la situation de l’environnement en Chine et alerter les autorités sur les conséquences non seulement écologiques mais également économiques, sociales voire politiques. C’est que la crise écologique qui frappe la Chine est particulièrement sévère.
