Sure, we know you and your Video Toaster have been gutted over this whole AmigaOS 4 debacle... what's that? You've never heard of OS 4? You didn't know Amiga was still around? You hadn't heard that Bill McEwan, CEO of Amiga says the company's next OS is going to be "better than OS X?" Well time to perk up those ears, kiddo. In a truly enthralling read, the head of the ~~defunct~~ hardware-maker / software company says that Amiga is hard at work on a number of projects, not the least of which is the follow up to company's OS 4 -- which has been mired in development disputes with a company called Hyperion Entertainment since 2001 -- AmigaOS 5. A piece of software guaranteed to surprise and thrill the technology community at large, mostly (we suspect) due to the fact that no one even knew the company was still in business. Sure, some of the detractors say they haven't released a product in seven years, but what's seven years when you've got that pile of platinum that is OS 5? Exactly.

Stealth Windows update prevents XP repair

A silent update that Microsoft deployed widely in July and August is preventing the "repair" feature of Windows XP from completing successfully.
Ever since the Redmond company's recent download of new support files for Windows Update, users of XP's repair function have been unable to install the latest 80 patches from Microsoft.

Millennium Remake Completed!

Millennium Remake was our entry into a “Retro” competition with some requirements being taking an older “retro” game and bringing it up to modern day with graphics and sound enhancement. It was also requested that we add personal touches to the game so that it was not an exact clone of the original with the idea of improving upon game play.

We did not decompile or hack the orginal game at any level. We gathered all of our game data from repeated playings of the original version on Amiga Emulators. We tried very hard to ballance out a new game that utilized the majority of the original games but included some changes to enhance the game play. It was the original game formula that we liked so much so we did not want to change the experience too drastically.

O romance "Amigo e Amiga - Curso de Silêncio de 2004", editado em 2006 pela Assírio & Alvim,

É a segunda vez que a escritora é galardoada com este prémio, depois de o ter obtido em 1990 com "Um beijo dado mais tarde".

Maria Gabriela Llansol, de ascendência espanhola, nasceu em Lisboa em 1931 e é considerada uma das mais inovadoras escritoras da ficção portuguesa contemporânea.

É autora das obras "Os pregos na erva" (1957), "A restante vida" (1978), "Um beijo dado mais tarde" (1990) e "Lisboaleipzig" (1994), entre outras.

A Assírio & Alvim tem editados alguns dos seus textos, nomeadamente "Contos do mal errante" e "O começo de um livro é precioso".

Quando era criança, ficou muito doente e sua mãe o consagrou à Lua para que ele se salvasse. Sérgio ficou curado e tendo a Lua como "madrinha". Por conta disso, perdeu todo o seu cabelo e em toda noite de lua cheia Sérgio Cabeleira tem que ser trancado em uma jaula para não ser levado pela Lua. Essa maldição só poderia ser quebrada quando encontrasse um amor verdadeiro.

Sérgio Cabeleira se apaixona por Alva e encontra nela uma chance de ser uma pessoa normal.

Free software programs

clipper's remarks: I am always on the look out for free software programs that are good. This is a site,TinyApps ,I have used many times to find simple, small programs. One program that is very useful is MWSnap. It is a screen capture program that is easy to use after you learn how to use it, hehe!. When you "capture" a screen shot, basically you take a picture of your screen or a section of the screen and save it as a jpg file.

One warning! If you start it and capture the entire monitor screen, it is very confusing !!!. I suggest you try capturing a small area first.

Fred Fish Dies

Those of you who owned an Amiga were probably aware of the Fred Fish disk collection. For those that weren't, this was a huge collection of shareware and freeware software for the Amiga. It was organized into a series of disks which became known as Fred Fish disks. It became the definitive way to reference shareware in that community. If you wanted, say, Directory Opus, you could find it on disk #412. Megaball (best Breakout/Archnoid clone out there) on disk 477. Anyway, the guy who created the collection was a programmer named Fred Fish who lived in Idaho. He died on April 20th. He did a lot for the world of computing back then. He'll be missed.

The contents of all the disks can be found here. There appear to have been 1,120 disks in all.
