In response to the constant objectification of women, the recent gang rape of a 15 year old girl in Richmond, CA, the unjust incarceration of Sara Kruzan and even the highly publicized violence faced by Rihanna, conscientious rapper and activist Jasiri X has put out a track that discusses the injustice and inhumanity of these crimes.

"My first reaction was 'Good for Al Aqsa!' " Khatib said. Then he realized the dead soldiers belonged to a different unit, not the one on duty when his friend was shot.

"It made me wonder: This cycle of death, of violent action and reaction, how we can break it?"

He believes Israel is trying to crush nonviolent activists because it would rather take on an armed insurgency.

Today's nonviolence initiatives tap into nostalgia for the first intifada, in what Khatib calls a sober reaction to the armed uprising that bloodied the first half of this decade after peace talks broke down.

Khatib, who dropped out when things turned violent, remembers the killings that changed him.

But there’s good news. It’s easier to follow the political follies (and abort them) when we stay in touch with think tanks and political action groups, working full-time, that provide heads up and mechanisms to get out our messages. North Carolina-focused organizations such as the John Locke Foundation (www.johnlocke.org) and the Civitas Institute (www.nccivitas.org) are two of the best in the Tar Heel state. National groups such as the Heritage Foundation (www.heritage.org), the Heartland Institute (www.heartland.org), Americans for Prosperity (www.americansforprosperity.org) and Freedom Works (www.freedomworks.org) are powerful and reliable sources of information. The last two have statewide affiliates. These principled organizations promote individual freedom and economic opportunities for all citizens. They counter government tyranny with research and activism.

Jeffrey Lord at the American Spectator first broke the story of how United Church of Christ officials met with kindred spirit/FCC Commissioner Michael Copps earlier this month before launching a nationwide campaign to pressure the FCC to crack down on cable TV and talk radio figures.

The motto of the “So We Might See” anti-”hate speech” campaign is: “Without media justice, there will be no social justice!” The same Marx-loving “social justice” crowd is behind the “media justice” mob — including George Soros’s Open Society Institute, Media Democracy Fund, and Media Matters; the Ford Foundation; the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; etc., etc., etc. Their goal: government redistribution of media wealth. As “The Media Justice Fund” put it: The movement “is grounded in the belief that social and economic justice will not be realized without the equitable redistribution and control of media and communication technologies.” And there’s that phrase “transformative change” again:

I'm sure a lot of you have heard of the Westboro Baptist Church from Topeka, Kansas (est. 1955). They are a xenophobic and homophobic group that uses the Bible to decree that God hates our troops, homosexuals, Jews, and pretty much everyone else not affiliated with the WBC. They're also known for protesting at funerals of fallen American soldiers and gays - even going so far as to bring signs that read, "Thank God for 9/11" (and just for today, in honor of Rabbi Esther, "Your Rabbi Is A Whore")

As a Christian, I'm disgusted by these people.

two weeks ago, the WBC contacted the RUPD requesting protection during a protest in front of Rutgers Hillel, the center of Jewish life here on campus

About six protestors from the WBC stood on the corner of College Avenue and Mine Street with their signs of hatred

I don't think they were expecting 1,200 PEOPLE (students, people from CNN, and other kind souls; according to the RUPD) to be standing against them.

Obama's controversial and embattled "safe schools czar," Kevin Jennings, has helped fund a pornographic, anti-Catholic and sado-masochistic art display currently being shown at Harvard University, reports massresistance.org.

The Harvard exhibition, entitled, ACT UP New York: Activism, Art, and the AIDS Crisis, 1987-1993, chronicles the efforts of the homosexual civil disobedience group, Aids Coalition To Unleash Power (ACT UP), through the graphic stickers, posters, and other visual media used as propaganda in the early years of the homosexualist movement.

Other posters include a variety of offensive images and messages. One image calls President Ronald Reagan a murderer and President George H.W. Bush a serial killer, for their perceived negligence in not using tax dollars to help those with AIDS.

In another part of the museum one finds text apparently describing an adult's violent sexual assault on a child.

The White House is already planning to create an “enemies list” where any dissent against its policies can land many into a permanent White House database. The U.S. Government and Homeland Security have established its hatred for dissidents in this country, they have established that anti-New World Order groups, Alternative Media Outlets (like this one) are potential violent terrorist tools. Anything about the U.S. Constitution, any partisan activists or any civil disobedience of any kind is now considered potential violent extremism by Homeland Security.

The unclassified Homeland Security memo even says people who are concerned about loss of U.S. sovereignty, illegal immigration and gun-control who are genuinely upset about encroaching freedom may be considered a potential insurgents against the U.S. government! Even liberal environmental activism, anti-war activism is considered potential violent extremism.

"Michael Moore's Action Plan: 15 Things Every American Can Do Right Now"

FIVE THINGS WE DEMAND THE PRESIDENT AND CONGRESS DO IMMEDIATELY:

AFTER creating controversy through environmental activism overseas, Hollywood starlet Isabel Lucas has moved her attention to her native waters.

The 24-year-old former soap star turned glamour greenie, who recently featured in the latest Transformers movie, has signed on to support a campaign to preserve the Coral Sea.

Lucas has been named as an ambassador for the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) campaign to create the world's largest marine heritage park.

Under the proposal put forward by CAFNEC and other green groups, a million square kilometres of ocean in the Coral Sea would be closed to commercial fishing, sea bed mining and gas and oil exploration.

In 2007, Lucas and a group of other high profile activists narrowly avoided arrest in Japan by fleeing the country after a surfboard protest against dolphin slaughter by commercial fishermen.

We hear women in dressing rooms, locker rooms, and bedrooms around the world complain about one thing over and over again – their bodies.

To many she never seems thin enough, not like the ultra slender women that strut down fashion runways, are splashed across glossy magazine pages, and star in today's biggest blockbusters.

We are told these women are beautiful. We are told that if we are thin we will be beautiful too. So we strive to attain this thin ideal and along the way destroy our self-esteem and berate ourselves for not measuring up to these unrealistic, not to mention unhealthy, bodies.

Well, it's high time that women break the thin ideal and start embracing a wider (no pun intended) definition of what it means to be beautiful.

We can start by celebrating Fat Talk Free Week, an international 5-day body activism campaign that raises awareness of body image issues and the damaging impact of the thin ideal on women in society.

When I was in graduate school, my partner was working at a shelter.

she didn't know how to drive a stick shift. So what that meant was that occasionally, when women had to go to the shelter, or go to the hospital, or get their kids out of the house, I drove them.

I really had no clue of what was going on, until I was driving these women, and one woman was there with broken limbs and a fractured jaw, and through her fractured jaw, she said, "Sometimes I deserve it, but this time I didn't."

So I announced to my partner one day

"I really want to do something about this." And she said, "I have an idea: Why don't you go talk to the men who beat the women up?" And looked at her, like, "Are you out of your mind? I don't want to go talk to them. I don't like them. They beat women up; they're bad guys." And she said, "Look, you have a natural constituency of half the human race. Go talk to them." So that was the moment that I committed myself to working with men.
