It's the stuff nightmares and horror movies are made of.

A holidaymaker got a nasty shock when he learned that the strange bleeding bumps on his head were not bites or shingles, but live maggots.

Aaron Dallas, from Colorado, looked for medical help when the unusual lumps appeared on his scalp after a holiday to Belize during the summer.

One doctor thought they might have been caused by a gnat bite. Another believed his problem was shingles.

But then the bumps took on a life of their own and began to move.

A doctor discovered five bot fly larvae living inside Aaron Dallas's head, near the top of his skull. This was a few weeks after a mosquito had apparently placed them there.

"I'd put my hand back there and feel them moving. I thought it was blood coursing through my head. I could hear them. I actually thought I was going crazy," said Dallas, of Carbondale.

"It was weird and traumatic," he said. "I would get this pain that would drop me to my knees."

Woman’s Paper Skin a Walking Notepad

For this Chinese woman who suffers from a condition called artificial urticaria, her skin has served as a notebook for all the years of her life.

This strange medical anomaly has no ill effects, but most agree that it is very weird.

Huang Xiangji is a 50-year-old woman from Chengdu who uses her skin like writing paper.

Huang claims that when she writes a word on her skin by using her fingernail, the letters protrude from her skin a moment later.

“I used my body as a notebook for years,” says Huang.

Even as a child, she was able to do this and she would often create shopping lists on her arm before going out to the stores. (That’s one list you can’t misplace!)

You've probably heard of a 'bucket' list, people writing down all the stuff they want to do in this world before they kick the bucket (pass on, in other words). I was just sorting through my stuff the other day and I came across another list I did years ago. It's what I call a lottery list, a list of things to do if I ever got a huge sum of money (like winning the lottery). And at the top of that list was this: writing a book on worship ministry.

It's really weird to see that on the list now, because even though I haven't got that huge financial windfall (well, not yet...) I've already written the book. More than that, I've recently updated the book and added a new chapter, so the book went from 164 pages to 171 pages. And I am certain that this will not be the last update for my book, there will be more updates and upgrades, as time goes by.

10. Roll-up keyboard

This keyboard has the same measurements as a standard 102-key keyboard, but there’s a big difference. You can roll this one up and put it in your pocket. Nice.

9. The wrist keyboard

This one might be useful if you’re in the need to type stuff while doing practical work in tough climates - but if you would wear this keyboard at the office, you might be considered a bit geeky.

8. Maltron 3D Ergonomic Keyboard

Things are starting to get a bit more weird, ey? Getting used to this keyboard isn’t something you’ll do in 10 minutes or so - it will take a while for sure. But if you have medical problems with your hands, this might be a good choice since it’s a very ergonomic keyboard. It looks very weird though!

7. The SafeType keyboard

Just take a look at this one. Do you understand how to use it? The idea is that your hands and arms shall be in a more relaxed position while working with the SafeType compared to a traditional keyboard. While doing research for this article I ran across this review of the safetype:

Wow, it’s heating up, don’t you agree? This is more cool than weird though. This laser gadget projects a virtual keyboard on a table or other suitable material, and then interpret your finger movement and pass them on to your PDA or whatever you have it connected to. Cool.

5. The frogpad

The frogpad is a tiny, tiny keyboard - or it would be more suitable to call it a keypad actually. The manufacturer say that you can get up to 40 words per minute if you practice between 6 to 10 hours with it. Any idea why they are calling it a frogpad?

4. The Twiddler 2

What do you say about the Twiddler 2? It looks to be quite painful to use, or what do you think? According to the testimonials at their site, it will take you ‘a weekend’ to learn typing 30 words per minute, so the frogpad wins that round. The Twiddler actually reminds me of those guitar classes I took when I was a young boy…

Scientists in Victoria say they have received worldwide interest in the dissection of one of the biggest squids ever caught.

Hundreds of people gathered at Melbourne Museum today to watch the public dissection of a 245-kilogram female squid captured off Portland in south-west Victoria last month.

Doctor Mark Norman says it has been one of the highlights of his career and has sparked huge interest in the community.

"They are these creatures of almost myth and legend and that just blows people away, but secondly, deep sea in general is just so fascinating because you don't have to travel to other planets to find alien creatures," he said.

"There's things down there where their entire bodies are made of snot, they've got detachable heads, their teeth fall out, they explode and they eat their snot jackets.

There is just weird things going on everywhere."

Status: False.

I have encountered a weird one that is apparently quite popular in the Georgia US area: chihuahua dogs will 'take on' a child's asthma. The dog will pick out the one in the family with asthma and sleep on their chest, will cough, and one day will cough up black stuff and this cures the asthma sufferer. I couldn't believe my ears - my neighbor believes this 100% as advised by both her MD and a vet, she tried it and claims this has cured her son of asthma. I am now finding that many folks around here have heard of this.

Origins: Asthma is an inflammatory disorder of the bronchial tubes that affects more than 17 million Americans and causes more than 5,000 deaths per year. It is also the most common chronic childhood disorder, affecting 6.3 million children ( approximately 1 in 13 school-aged kids).
