Thirty-four American servicemen were killed in the two-hour assault by Israeli warplanes and torpedo boats. Israel claimed that the whole affair had been a tragic accident based on mistaken identification of the ship. The American government accepted the explanation.

Dead In The Water - The Sinking of the USS Liberty - 69 min

Documentary 'The Israel lobby - The influence of AIPAC on US Foreign Policy' - 51 min

Clip Source: mwcnews.net

There should be little doubt that the Israeli government is making every effort to jump-start a war against Iran

A flurry of visits to Israel

have made clear that there is considerable opposition at the Pentagon and in intelligence circles to starting a third war at this time.

Iran is still far removed from having nuclear capability. Mullen went so far as to tell the Israelis flatly that Washington does not want another war. He even brought up the subject of the USS Liberty, a not-so subtle hint that Washington knows that Israel might try to engineer a Gulf of Tonkin-type surprise to force American involvement.

Mullen may have been implying that any incident in the Persian Gulf that might lead to armed conflict will be scrutinized carefully to determine if it is a false flag operation initiated by Tel Aviv.

the mainstream media

provides a bully pulpit for those who want war. Baloney! This should bring an end to that pack of lies.

1. This is investor driven, (read the analyst in the clip above).

2. The dollar is now regaining strength, which is used in international oil trade. (But the record $10.2 trillion national debt is made of fake printed money, which is inflationary, and still a huge problem).

3. War fears, which drive speculation also, have subsided as the prospect and drumbeat of war with Iran has diminished (for now). Until Israel foments war again.

These are the three principle causes of high gas prices, now being reversed. Let the "drill" propagandists for supply as the cause now shut their mouths.

Clip Source: www.msnbc.msn.com

Oil plunges to 13-month low on global crisis

Investors worry about the impact of a severe international downturn

Gas prices across the United States
The U.S. average price of regular has jumped 73 cents from last year to $3.504 per gallon on Monday, according to AAA.

NEW YORK - The stunning collapse in oil markets accelerated Friday, sending a barrel of crude plunging below $78 as investors grow more pessimistic about resolving a mushrooming global economic crisis.

Oil hasn’t been this cheap in 13 months — a rare silver lining for consumers amid a rapidly imploding financial landscape.

Crude prices have almost been cut in half since surging to a record near $150 barrel over the summer.

Energy experts believe prices could go even lower.

“There’s so much fear out there and that’s really gripping the oil market. jihad does not mean war in the Koran as there are other words for it like qital
and harb. Jihad has been used in the Koran in its root meaning: to

I fear? I think Obama will empower the racists in this country and stir up a
race war in order to seize absolute power." Savage later said: "I

Starvation.net logs the increasing impacts of world hunger and starvation. Over 30,000 people a day (85% children under 5) die of malnutrition, curable diseases, and starvation. The numbers of unnecessary deaths has exceeded three hundred million people over the past forty years.

For a family on the bottom rung of poverty a small price increase is the difference between life and death, yet neither US presidential candidate has declared a war on starvation. Instead both candidates talk about national security and the continuation of the war on terror as if this were the primary election issue. Given that ten times as many innocent people died on 9/11/01 than those in the World Trade centers, where is the Manhattan project for global hunger? Where is the commitment to national security though unilateral starvation relief? Where is the outrage in the corporate media with pictures of dying children and an analysis of who benefits from hunger?

How appropriate for the Debt Clock to run out of numbers. It's so symbolic, like the clock itself staggered at the number. The figure is absolutely outrageous and completely unjustifiable. And republicans used to be the party of limited instead of Big Government. The consequences are now all coming back. But Democrats should not gloat too much, they had plenty of support for the same spending packages and gave Bush whatever he wanted (fools). The ignorant flag-waving American public now realizes they were pushed into war under false pretenses and lies.

Clip Source: news.yahoo.com

Where did he learn this? He was the very bottom of his class (so he didn't learn it there), he crash three jets during peace-time (so he didn't learn it there), the explosion on the carrier was actually his panicking and dropping his bombs into a fire on the deck (so he didn't learn it there), he was downed and became a POW (so he didn't learn it there), the war he was in was Vietnam, the only war the U.S. ever lost (so he didn't learn it there). So where exactly did McCain acquire this great ability to "win a war?" I don't see it!

Clip Source: www.latimes.com

Three crashes early in his career led Navy officials to question or fault his judgment.

John McCain was training in his AD-6 Skyraider on an overcast Texas morning in 1960 when he slammed into Corpus Christi Bay and sheared the skin off his plane's wings.

McCain recounted the accident decades later in his autobiography. "The engine quit while I was practicing landings," he wrote. But an investigation board at the Naval Aviation Safety Center found no evidence of engine failure.

The crash was one of three early in McCain's aviation career in which his flying skills and judgment were faulted or questioned by Navy officials.

In his most serious lapse, McCain was "clowning" around in a Skyraider over southern Spain about December 1961 and flew into electrical wires

After McCain was sent to Vietnam, his plane was destroyed in an explosion on the deck of an aircraft carrier in 1967.

<clipSource>http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-aviator6-2008oct06,0,762489.story</clipSource>

Afghanistan Unwinnable?

clipped by: oscarrob
clipper's remarks: Ask the Russians about winning a war in Afghanistan. Britain's commander in Afghanistan has said the war against the Taliban cannot be won, the Sunday Times reported.

"We're not going to win this war. It's about reducing it to a manageable level of insurgency that's not a strategic threat and can be managed by the Afghan army," he said.

Tags: afghanistan, war, war on terror, taliban

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081005/ts_nm/us_afghan_taliban_britain</clipSource>

‘The Passion’ producer says American Carol movie part of ‘emerging culture war’

clipped by: Efrain Alvarado

Clip Source: www.catholicnewsagency.com

Hollywood, Oct 3, 2008 / 03:48 pm (CNA).- Steve McEveety, producer of "The Passion of the Christ," has written a letter encouraging people to see the new movie "An American Carol," comparing buying tickets for the movie to casting a vote in the “emerging culture war.” American Carol producer John Shepherd explained to CNA that the movie is meant to make Hollywood question its animosity towards conservatives.

McEveety describes the first movie, comedian Bill Maher’s “Religulous,” as a “militant pro-atheism documentary.”

McEveety contrasts the film with David Zucker's “An American Carol,” calling the latter a “pro-America, pro-faith comedy.”

He describes Zucker’s movie as “a film that celebrates America as a country founded on the principles of faith.
