Eugene Jarecki examines the evolution of America's views about war,up through the invasion of Iraq.He knows how to ask the important questions, and he keeps asking until he gets the answers. This is the kind of insightful dialogue that can help ensure that when we act, we act not of fear, but are grounded in confidence in our ideals"
- Senator Patric Leahy -

Clip Source: loulairusa.multiply.com

The American Way of War: Guided Missiles, Misguided Men, and a Republic in Peril

Educate yourself; do research and then make up your own mind. This is the domain of tortured minds that may never heal. This may very well be the legacy of Fort Hood.

Forty years ago I was a Marine returning from the war in Vietnam. I returned having been badly wounded in the chest and both legs. I tried to find solace in my scars but could not. I had abandoned my buddies only to come home to unchartered waters. Soon I found myself more terrified in peace than I was in war.

There is no way to sort through the nightmare that took place at Fort Hood. Soldiers are not supposed to die on their way to war and they most certainly are not supposed to die at the hands of those who care for their health.
This is the mentality that led to the news establishment’s acceptance of the Iraq War.

Go to the clip to learn what happened to Mother Jones after becoming a tax exempt non-profit after it reported on lobbying in Washington.

Once you allow the government or private corporation to have any controlling link to the media you lose independence. Editors become fearful of criticizing the hand that feeds it. Publishers and benefactors become cozy and unbiased reports become fewer and fewer. Journalism becomes a de facto advertisement for consumer products.

We hope in the future we’ll see more I.F. Stones, more guerrilla warriors on the Web, in print and on the air. Because of them—and not because of a government handout—great reporting will survive, as it always has.

Clip Source: www.truthdig.com

<img src="http://content7.clipmarks.com/image_cache/disenchantedcitizen/512/0336A0CB-421A-42F4-B17F-F868C539D6E9.jpg" alt="I.F.
