Sculpture by Daniel Firman for the exhibition Superdome at the Palais de Tokyo.
In my opinion the rest of the exhibition's rubbish but this piece is spectacular. That's what an elephant can do at 18 000 Km from earth gravity.
It's worth checking out the photos of how the taxidermist prepared this sculpture (the catalogue is free with the exhibition but I couldn't find the pictures online).

Parts of a giant, exquisitely carved marble sculpture depicting the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius have been found at an archaeological site in Turkey.

Marcus Aurelius ruled over the empire for 19 years

Fragments of the statue were unearthed at the ancient city of Sagalassos.

So far the statue's head, right arm and lower legs have been discovered, high in the mountains of southern Turkey.

Marcus Aurelius was portrayed by Richard Harris in the Oscar-winning 2000 film Gladiator and was one of the so-called "Five Good Emperors".

He reigned from 161AD until his death in 180AD.

In addition to his deeds as emperor, Marcus Aurelius is remembered for his writings, and is considered one of the foremost Stoic philosophers.

The partial statue was unearthed in the largest room at Sagalassos's Roman baths.

The cross-shaped room measures 1,250 sq m (13,500 sq ft), is covered in mosaics and was probably used as a frigidarium - a room with a cold pool which Romans could sink into after a hot bath.

He died, his wife commissioned this sculpture

Recycling Spreads

Butter that creamy, sweet bovine creation most often is seen dripping from corn on the cob, perking up popcorn or nestled snugly in a mound of mashed potatoes.

But when the curtain falls on this year's New York State Fair, the 900 or so pounds of butter making up the famous butter sculpture will not end up on a plate anywhere, or in the garbage. Instead, it will be powering vehicles at a Syracuse college.

This year's butter will be turned into biodiesel fuel by students and faculty at the State University College of Environmental Science and Forestry. The biodiesel will fuel cars and buses at ESF.

"Butter is 80 percent fat and oil and 20 percent water and protein," Nicholson said. "What we have to do is render it heat it to separate the fats and oils from the water and protein."

The water and protein is thrown away. Then the oil and fat is clarified making it pure and clean.

Telemegaphone Dale is a 23-foot-tall wind-powered loudspeaker sculpture that picks up incoming calls and projects them into the nearby surroundings. This Telemegaphone, created by the Swedish designers at Unsworn Industries, is located on a mountain overlooking the village of Dalsfjord in Western Norway. Apparently, a “massive” amount of people have been calling. The sculpture is only “available” when the wind is blowing and the line isn’t busy.

“When you dial the Telemegaphone’s phone number the sound of your voice is projected out across the fjord, the valley and the village of Dale below. No answer? Telemegaphone Dale is wind powered and self-reliant. Recently however, the weather has been exceptionally calm in Dale and there has been a massive amount of people calling.”

Inflatable faeces raises a stink

A giant inflatable dog turd brought down a power line after being blown away from a Swiss museum.

The artwork, entitled Complex Shit, was carried 200 metres on the night of 31 July, reportedly breaking a greenhouse window before it landed again.

The sculpture, by American artist Paul McCarthy, was equipped with a safety system that should have deflated it.

The fake faeces has been returned and will remain on display at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern until October.

McCarthy is well known for his inflatable artworks, two of which - Blockhead and Daddies Bighead - were displayed outside the Tate Modern in London in 2003.

The Zentrum Paul Klee, which opened in 2005, houses a collection of about 4,000 works by the noted Swiss painter.

A giant ice sculpture of the word “Democracy” weighing more than 900 pounds that will melt over the course of eight to 12 hours. YouTube public service announcements created by ordinary citizens about what it means to participate in an election. The New York artist Fang Lin has contributed another media project, “Political Science 101,” which will be shown at Intermedia Arts beginning on Aug. 31. The piece transforms one of the galleries into a traditional classroom with rows of desks and chairs set up around a slide projector. Mr. Fang has created a custom program that can scan 400 political blogs in real time for key words, like “security” or “McCain.” The program is able to then grab data from those blogs and present them through graphs and charts that are then projected onto a screen.

An inflatable dog feces sculpture the size of a house from a modern art exhibition in a Swiss museum has blown away.

The sculpture title “Complex S--t” by American Artist Paul McCarthy was lifted by a sudden gust of wind this week from the Paul Klee center in Berne and carried 200 yards, but not before knocking down electricity lines and smashing a greenhouse window.

The automatic safety device that was supposed to deflate the sculpture in case of a storm malfunctioned. The blow-up sculpture came to rest on the grounds of an area children’s home.

Museum directors have not yet decided whether to reinstall it at the “East of Eden. A Garden Show” exhibit.

Now, that stinks!
