In comparison to a lithium battery that would take 20 minutes to recharge.

The salt and paper battery is still in the early stages of development as compared to other thin-film technologies. For a battery to be cost effective you need to able to obtain the material at relatively low cost and have a good manufacture process in place.

The battery could be produced commercially in about three years and made available to distributors.

Via: RSC and Technology Review

© 2009 PhysOrg.com

Clip Source: www.physorg.com

A new thin-film battery has electrodes made of polymer-coated paper and an electrolyte made of salt-soaked paper. Microchips are commonly implanted into animals to reveal identification details when scanned and similar devices have been used with Alzheimers patients.

US company VeriChip is already using implantable microchips, which store a 16-digit unique identification number, on humans for medical purposes.

Another form of uberveillance is the use of bracelets worn by dangerous prisoners which use global positioning systems to pinpoint their movements.

"Anyone with a mobile phone can be tracked to 15m now," she said, pointing out that most mobile phone handsets now contained GPS receivers and radio frequency identification (RFID) readers.

He also predicted that microchip implants and their infrastructure could eliminate the need for e-passports, e-tags, and secure ID cards.

Tags: privacy, surveillance, rfid, microchip, tyranny

<clipSource>http://news.ninemsn.com.au/technology/735519/humans-will-be-implanted-with-microchips</clipSource>

RFID implants to get a job???!!!

clipped by: jjjacob811
clipper's remarks: I can't believe employers are asking for this? Sen. Joe Simitian, a Palo Alto Democrat, announced that his Senate Bill 362, which would ban the practice, passed by a 28-9 vote last week.

"RFID technology is not in and of itself the issue. RFID is a minor miracle, with all sorts of good uses," Simitian said in a statement. "But we shouldn't condone forced 'tagging' of humans. It's the ultimate invasion of privacy."

The bill is headed for the desk of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for approval. They've been behind ideas like RFID tagging immigrant and guest workers at the border, and they've persuaded a former Bush Health Secretary to get himself chipped. In this CNET News.com article, we offer an update on how successful the idea has been. It turns out that, according to IPO documents, 222 people have been implanted, with sales revenue of $100,000." As the AP will report, a series of research articles spanning more
than a decade found that mice and rats injected with
              glass-encapsulated RFID transponders developed malignant,
fast-growing, lethal cancers in up to 1% to 10% of cases. The
tumors originated in the tissue surrounding the microchips and
often grew to completely surround the devices, the researchers
              said.

Tags: rfid, verichip, big brother, nwo

<clipSource>http://www.citizensadvocate.net/newsletters/albrechtVeriChipAP.html</clipSource>

Anti RFID legislation in CA, Limits Implants of ID Devices

clipped by: constantskeptic
clipper's remarks: Haven't seen anything about RFIDs for awhile, although I knew that they would pop up again.

Clip Source: slashdot.org

RFID Industry Fights Ca. Roxanne Gould, vice president for California government relations for the American Electronics Association ... said Simitian is taking the wrong approach, although her organization hasnt taken a position on the implant bill.

Our bottom line is were opposed to anything that demonizes RFIDs,

Tags: rfid, implants

<clipSource>http://slashdot.org/~twitter/journal/</clipSource>

(RFID) Chip Implants

clipped by: delete101
clipper's remarks: This scares the fuckin' PISS out of me. Aside from the conviences such a chip can provide, such as storing medical records, banking info(replace credit and ATM cards), GPS, and security clearance, I think the drawbacks are overwhelming. This is just one more link in the gov. control chain. Such a device would make it much easier for the gov. to spy on you and infringe your rights without you even knowing. With a couple mouse clicks, Big Brother can pinpoint your location 24/7, track your spending trends, and see when yo went to the doctor last. The list goes on and on regarding it's potential for abuse. This has the capability of giving the gov. control over humans that would be unprecedented.

Clip Source: www.greaterthings.com

Chip

RFIDs are already trying to take their place in the world under every field imaginable and coaxed into things that we wouldn't need them for, what they really are for is surveillance, identification, electronic tagging and radio feedback. RFIDs and forced universal ID cards are the stepping stone prior to a microchipped population, so do your part as human beings with any bit of ethics and morality left in you and fight back. Say no to RFID tagging, say no to ID cards, say no to socialism/fascism/globalism/one-world-government, and say no to the chip.

- Peace

Clip Source: www.abovetopsecret.com

Implants served as surveillance monitoring device for
                          threat group activity.

Implants disabled two subjects during an assault on

Universal side effects in all 8 test subjects revealed
that when implant was set to 116 MHz all subjects became
lethargic and slept an average of 18-22 hours per day.

All subjects refused recreation periods for 14 days
during the 116 MHz test evaluation, 7 of the 8 subjects
did not exercise, in the cell or out of the cell and
5 of the 8 subjects refused showers up to three days
                          at a time.

Each subject was monitored for aggressive activitiy
during the test period and the finding are conclusive
that 7 out of the 8 test subjects exhibited no agression,
                          even when provoked.

Each subject experienced only minor bleeding from the
nose and ears 48 hours after the implant due to initial
                          adjustment.

Each subject had no knowledge of the implant for the
test period and each implant was retrieved under the
                          guise of medical treatment.
