What will happen when The One pushes his Marxist agenda to the point that those of us who are still Americans balk? Will our armed forces fire on us on orders from this punk, in the interests of imposing the same ideology our military was intended to stave off? Obama isn’t counting on it. As mentioned earlier, the Moonbat Messiah has proclaimed:

We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.

If we have the FBI, Border Security, Federal Marshalls, and all the other tools for enforcing federal laws - just why would he need a National Security Force?

“What if there was an oil shortage?
Starting today? How would your life change?”

In May 2007, over 1,800 people combined imagination with insight to create World Without Oil (WWO), a realistic simulation of the first 32 weeks of a global oil shortage chronicled in 1,500 personal blog posts, videos, images and voicemails. Via these lesson plans, high school teachers can use this collaborative grassroots simulation to engage students with questions about energy use, sustainability, the role energy plays in our economy, culture, worldview and history, and many others.

World Without Oil was an alternate reality game – when submitting their stories, its players pretended the oil crisis was really happening. We encourage teachers to do the same: to get "in game" and act to make the crisis seem real. Each day your students will immerse themselves in an exploration of a World Without Oil, and prepare their own "in-game" stories that they can contribute to the WWO online archive.

But buried in the same FEC disclosure form that revealed Palin’s taste for the fine life is the name of the man who appears to have been her personal shopper: Jeff Larson.

Does the name Jeff Larson sound familiar? It should. Larson is the Karl Rove protégé who’s a principal in the robocalling firm of FLS Connect (the “FLS” stands for Tony Feather, Jeff Larson, and Tom Synhorst*, all veteran Republican political operatives). Larson’s firm is the same one that launched the scurrilous robocalls against John McCain in 2000, and that McCain has now hired to make robocalls connecting Barack Obama to Bill Ayers.

Are you out of shape? When our body is out of shape, it usually means that our life isn’t quite on track. I know that when my fitness sinks, some superfluous kilos start to collect around my middle, and my energy sags - my life is out of balance.

Personal growth should always include two aspects: kindness and joy.

Is it possible to get back into shape whilst being kind to ourselves?
Or is “No pain, no gain!” the only way.

The important thing is to get back into shape very, very gradually.

There is a very interesting Japanese philosophy called Kaizen which focuses on continuous but small change.

The philosophy of Kaizen was formulated in Japan following World War II. The word Kaizen means “continuous improvement”. The original kanji characters for this term translate as follows:

kai means ‘change’ or ‘the action to correct’.
zen means ‘good.

Continuous, incremental change is a great model for personal growth.

This Election Was Personal - And Angry

This election was exhausting. The campaigns were passionate in a time when deep fears griped each of us.

Even George Bush supporters believe he was treated unfairly by world events beyond his control - but those events happened to all of us.

All of us, Americans and our fellow earthly citizens, have been deeply impacted by the past eight years. It makes no difference if Bush was the cause or merely the victim. Each of us have lived through some of the most traumatic events in history. Each of us took the outcome of this election personally.

But there it was, the world is not on hold during these elections.

The dread of a dismal economic future was felt around the world and passions flared.

Fear of the outcome was driving the passion

But the passions remain. Deep passion does not dissolve by merely counting the votes.

We continue to see deep anger

We cannot discount the anger.

We felt this ourselves.

This election became personal.

California GOP Files FEC Complaint Over Obama Visit to Grandmother

Perhaps the most ill-timed press release of the 2008 campaign arrived shortly after 1:30 p.m. today, sent by the Republican National Committee.

The release forwarded word that the California Republican Party filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, in part because of a visit Sen. Barack Obama made to his dying grandmother.

"Obama for America violated federal law by converting its campaign funds to Senator Obama's personal use," the release stated. "Senator Obama recently traveled to Hawaii to visit his sick grandmother. This was the right thing for any grandson to do -- at his own expense -- but it was not travel that his campaign may fund."

But filing the complaint today now seems to have been ill-advised, if not legally, then certainly politically.

DAMASCUS - The United States raid on Syria on October 27, which led to the killing of eight civilians, sent shockwaves throughout Iraq, mainly enraging the Sunni community, former Ba'athists and tribal leaders who are pro-Syrian.

It came as such a surprise to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki that he was completely dumfounded at commenting. Here was the prime minister of Iraq, an ally of Iran and a former resident of Syria, watching Syria being attacked from his own territory - without his knowledge.

The Syria raid has electrified Iraq's Shi'ites, who are once again calling on Maliki not to sign the SOFA, claiming it will be used against Iran since it would give the US long-term access to Iraqi territory.

Sunnis are furious, given their historic relations, both personal and commercial, with the Syrians.

Of the 1.5 million Iraqi refugees in Syria, a majority are Sunnis.

A prominent Kurdish politician, Mahmud Othman,

such action would only add to the anti-American sentiment in Iraq

As national daily tracking polls portray Obama gaining a growing advantage over McCain—an 11 percentage point lead in the newest polling results Thursday — McCain's campaign has grown increasingly negative. An independent review by university ad-watchers has found that "nearly 100 percent of the McCain campaign's advertisements were negative" during the past week, compared with 34 percent of Obama's.

"If it continues, this rate of negativity is unprecedented in the presidential scenario," says John Geer, author of "In Defense of Negativity: Attack Ads in Presidential Campaigns" and a political scientist at Vanderbilt University. The flat tax would replace taxes on personal and corporate income and estates. Households would pay taxes on wages and pension income in excess of substantial personal and child allowances. Businesses would pay taxes on their sales less their wage and pension payments, input costs, and capital purchases. No other income would be taxed, no other deductions allowed. Businesses and individuals would face the same flat tax rate.

In theory, the flat tax is, indeed, a clever, principled approach to changing the nature of federal taxation.

Unlike the flat tax, the current income tax also permits dozens of allowances, credits, exclusions, and deductions.
