Giggling Beatles tape auctioned

A tape of a Beatles recording session in which John Lennon and Paul McCartney are heard cracking jokes and breaking into giggles, has sold for £9,800.

During the recording of I'll Follow The Sun - which appeared on the Beatles For Sale LP - Lennon says: "I'm not looking at you," to which McCartney replies: "You were".

Lennon then says: "It's just going to get funnier and funnier as the evening goes on."

BEATLES legend SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY has been named the most irritating pop star of all time, by a new online poll.
The rocker was judged to be even more annoying than James Blunt, Lily Allen and Robbie Williams - who he beat to the top of the Musicmagpie.com survey.

I quickly learned that celebrity pictures were worth far more than news pictures.

Over 15 years, I followed many A-list celebrities through Britain: the Beckhams, Princess Diana, Keira Knightley, Paul McCartney and many others.

The market for photos of Britney Spears was particularly huge, with many photo agencies earning a full 30% of their income from the images of her latest trip to Starbucks or Rite-Aid -- or of her most recent mental breakdown.

But for me, it had to end. We were not, after all, pursuing a Third World dictator responsible for the massacre of thousands of his own people. This was Britney Spears, a 26-year-old mother of two, suffering from mental illness.

For me, I thought long and hard about my resignation, both before and after. Have I lost the edge? Am I getting soft in my old age? Can I no longer compete? Whatever the answer, I don't care. I can sleep at night.

The Beatles song Across the Universe will be transmitted into deep space by NASA on Monday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the space agency's and the Fab Four's beginnings

The tune will be broadcast toward Polaris, the North Star, over NASA's Deep Space Network, a global collection of ground stations used to communicate with distant space probes

It will take the music, traveling at the speed of light, 431 years to reach its destination

"Send my love to the aliens," Beatle Paul McCartney said in a statement released by the space agency Thursday. "All the best."

The late John Lennon, a creative musical force, was the principal author of Across the Universe.

The song will be transmitted Monday at 6 p.m., CST.

The link between NASA and one of the world's most famous musical groups is not new.

Beatle recordings, including Here Comes the Sun and A Hard Day's Night, have been popular wake-up songs for space shuttle crews.

But the idea that fence-sitting voters would or should withhold their votes from Clinton because she is, God forbid, not trustworthy implies that this is somehow an aberrant characteristic for a presidential candidate. Of all the things I have read about this never-ending campaign, this is by far the most hilarious. If you can't stand the sight of Hillary Clinton because she's too liberal, too rich, too haughty, went to Wellesley or simply because she's a woman, at least be man enough to come out and admit it. Don't hide behind some bogus "trustworthiness" rationalization."

Several years ago, I wrote a story for GQ magazine in which I admitted that there were certain public figures I disliked because I could not stand looking at their faces. The smirking Pat Robertson, Jimmy Carter and his paste-on grin and the perennially pouting Boston Celtics guard Danny Ainge (now the team's general manager) all fell into this category, as did the truculent scamp Pete Rose and the smarmy Paul McCartney.

Despite its juvenile premise, the article had a serious subtext. It was a plea for the public to stop pretending that they disliked public figures because of their values or attitudes and admit that, in many cases, they simply couldn't stand the sight of them. For example, the reason so many young people view John Tesh as an emissary of Satan is not because of his appalling New Age music. It's because he looks like Prince Charming, the lantern-jawed ninny in "Shrek."

KFC suppliers cram birds into huge waste-filled factories, breed and drug them to grow so large that they can’t even walk, and often break their wings and legs. At slaughter, the birds’ throats are slit and they are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water—often while they are still conscious. It would be illegal for KFC to abuse dogs, cats, pigs, or cows in these ways.

KFC’s own animal welfare advisors have asked the company to take steps to eliminate these abuses, but KFC refuses to do so. Many advisors have now resigned in frustration.
