JERUSALEM - GREEK and Armenian Orthodox faithful kicked, punched and hit each other with candles on Sunday in Jerusalem's Holy Sepulchre, the church built on the site where Christians believe Jesus was buried and resurrected.

A number of the faithful hit out with religious artifacts as priests tried to tear each others' robes off in the brawl.

Custody of the church itself is shared by the Greeks, Armenians and Roman Catholics, all of whom jealously guard their responsibilities under a fragile network of agreements hammered out over the centuries.

"Rival denominations often battle for access or space and the congregation at the annual Easter service sometimes resembles the terraces of a boisterous football match. The keys to the main entrance of the church have been held by a Muslim family since the 12th century because the Christians do not trust one another."

Clip Source: www.timesonline.co.uk

A long-running row over the rights to a rooftop section of the Church of the
Holy Sepulchre could bring the entire structure tumbling down, destroying
Christendom’s holiest site.

While renovations are needed across the church, the small Deir al-Sultan
monastery on its roof has reached an “emergency state”, according to
engineers who completed an evaluation this month.

The Times has learnt that in 2004 the two chapels and twenty-six tiny rooms
that comprise the monastery were pronounced in dire need of reinforcement.
They have since deteriorated to the point where engineers now fear that they
will crash through the roof and into the church, venerated by millions of
Christians as the site of the Crucifixion and burial of Jesus.

The church has been vigilantly managed by six competing and often fractious
Christian denominations — Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox,
Coptic, Syrian Orthodox and Ethiopian — since an agreement reached under
Ottoman law in 1757.

People are afraid, and women are being victimized most of all. Is the Taliban resurgent? Well, yes, but that's not what this story is about; instead, this story is about Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem taking the "law" into their own hands and punishing people for failing to adhere to strict religious standards.

Traditionalist Muslims tend to take first place in the Oppression Olympics, getting high marks for their efforts to stifle free speech and prevent women from achieving real equality in society with conservative Christians working hard to challenge them. Jews, though, tend to be quieter — but maybe some have decided that they can give the other a real run for their money? Even conservative, evangelical Christians haven't thought to create their own Taliban-inspired morality police.

In 2005, 2 percent of Iraq's population was Christian, according to the World Christian Database.

Tags: iraq

<clipSource>http://blog.christianitytoday.com/ctliveblog/archives/2008/07/doonesbury_repo.html</clipSource>

Pope Reasserts Catholic Supremacy Over Protestants

clipped by: blueridge
clipper's remarks: His Unholiness reasserts the pre-Reformation, tyrannical and usurping tradition of Papal authority and Roman Catholic supremacy as if Jesus Christ himself taught or authorized his ceremonial priest-craft and Latin Mass (which is idolatry), where his Blasphemy, through waving his magic wand and reciting Latin formula ( hocus pocus) is able to (if you believe this) transform (transubstantiation) mere wafers of bread ("heil presto"--poof!) into the "body of Christ"!

Jesus and the apostles never taught such superstition (which hails from Roman paganism, mixed well in its holidays and ecclesiastical hierarchy). The Pope is following the false teaching of Simon Magus, the sorcerer, instead of Simon Peter the apostle. Ritual, ceremony, miters, crosses, candles, pilgrimages, liturgies, and shepherd staffs all make a show of religion (tracing back to Babylonian religions) contrary to the writings of the new testament.

Clip Source: www.msnbc.msn.com

Pope: Other denominations not true churches

Benedict issues statement asserting that Jesus established ‘only one church’

LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy - Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches.

Benedict approved a document from his old offices at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that restates church teaching on relations with other Christians. Instead, she highlights the question of whether religion has a largely radicalizing influence or a positive impact on the relations between people. In other words, is religion good or bad for peace?

Gavriel Aryeh Sanders is a former missionary, and Evangelical Minister who converted to Orthodox Judaism.
Whilst learning Hebrew, he began questioning the narrative of the Christian Bible. One would expire without the other.

Could the same be true for this gang. Do the Zionists need the zealot Christian fundamentalist Christian evangelists like Hagee in the same way? Certainly "Jews defend Hagee's words" would seem to prove it.

"Viewing Hitler as acting completely outside of God's plan is to suggest that God was powerless to stop the Holocaust, a position quite unacceptable to any religious Jew or Christian," said Orthodox Rabbi Aryeh Scheinberg raises a few questions for me also. Are they in rapture over the burning of the new testaments? So your welcome to boast the Zionist economy but don't bring your bible. So now we have the torture, the concentration camps, the assassinations, the ethnic cleansing, the Gaza prison, the slow starvation, the economic strangulation, the racism, the Arab holocaust to match the Nakba of 60 years ago, and on and on. And all with America's blessing. What next?
