The completion of the device is scheduled for 2009, whereas the first test will begin in 2010. Researchers at the lab are confident that, by 2011, they could obtain sustainable and entirely controllable fusion. The year of 2020 was set as a marker for the construction of the first commercial power plant, to employ the new technology.

If their endeavors are successful, then the world could see a major transformation, as far as energy production goes. Having a reliable and perfectly safe source of power will virtually eliminate the need for fossil-fuel power plants, and even wind and solar farms will become obsolete. In order for this to happen, governments worldwide will have to make a huge financial effort, to install these energy-producing plants across their territories.

Clip Source: news.softpedia.com

The concept of nuclear fusion is something that scientists dream about ever since the mid 1940s, after the fission reaction was first obtained, and the first atom bomb was created. Since then, nuclear energy became a part of our daily lives, with plants being built all across the globe, from Korea to India, the US, China, and Russia. Smaller countries, such as Romania and Bulgaria, also possess nuclear energy, providing electricity to a large percentage of their national grids.

Nuclear fusion offers the promise of unlimited amounts of free, clean energy. The California-based Lawrence Livermore Laboratory (LLNL) and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), through its Mega Amp Spherical Tokamak (MAST), based at Oxford, are the spearheads of current development in this direction.

Tags: nuclear, energy, technology, nuclear fusion, atomice energy

<clipSource>http://news.softpedia.com/news/Nuclear-Fusion-Will-Become-Realityl-by-2011-97963.shtml</clipSource>

Iranian Nuke Test?

clipped by: willhelm

Clip Source: www.israelnationalnews.com

A weekend 5.0 Richter earthquake in Iran was actually a nuclear bomb test, says an Iranian nuclear scientist claiming to be working on the project.

The report is an Israel Insider exclusive.

This past Saturday night, southern Iran experienced what was reported as a significant earthquake - a seismic event measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale. This was a for real nuclear showdown, like the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. I really thought a city in Poland, or others in Europe were going to get nuked.

NOTHING IS RESOLVED YET. The USA plans to put nukes on the Russian border are still in place.

There is no way - because of American ideology about Russia - that Obama can stick his neck out and stop these missile base plans.

But now BOTH France and Russia oppose them. If other EU countries join them -- if there is massive street protest (like some are doing in Poland and Czech Republic) this could give Obama an "excuse," -- to go along with the will of Europe; then he'd be going along with the will of Europe instead of backing down from the Russians.

Plus - pan-European security pact? Gads! NATO out the window. NATO expansion out the windown.

Boy, Bush really @#Red up. Don't believe the USA is a nice peace loving country that's only interested in protecting itself.

And, My God! --Don't believe, as this clip shows is in the article, don't believe that the USA putting nuke missiles in Poland on the Russian border is for protection from Iran.

Protection from Iran!?

Yet, this is what the USA tells it's citizens and tell the world. How frigging dumb ass do we have to be?

(This is like the quality of other U.S. propaganda; it seems to be made up by the Muppets).

THIS IS A SHOWDOWN.

THIS IS A SHOWDOWN WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

IF THE USA DOES NOT BACK DOWN THE RUSSIANS WILL SHOT; due to soaring costs and the credit crunch, the owner of British Gas said

The high costs of developing offshore wind farms are among a number of issues that industry executives, investors and environmental groups say could threaten the government's efforts to hit a target of producing 15 percent of Britain's energy from renewable sources by 2020.

Offshore wind currently costs in the region of 2.5-3 billion pounds per gigawatt of capacity to build, according to industry figures.

By comparison, an equivalent one gigawatt gas-fired power station would cost 600 million pounds and nuclear is about 1.8 billion pounds per gigawatt.

Other hurdles highlighted by the industry include planning delays, difficulties in connecting farms to the UK's national power grid and a shortage of wind turbines.

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081114/sc_nm/us_centrica_wind_farms_1</clipSource>

Docs Linking Iran to Nuclear Weapons Push May Be Fabricated

clipped by: thisnamecantbetaken
clipper's remarks: After the IAEA received the copy of the letter without notes from Iran, some officials began pushing for an acknowledgment by the Agency that there were serious questions about the whether the laptop documents were fabricated, according to the Vienna-based source close to the IAEA.

Suspicion has surrounded the “alleged studies” documents from the beginning, because the United States has refused to say who brought the collection to US intelligence four years ago.

Clip Source: rawstory.com

Documents linking Iran to nuclear weapons push may have been fabricated

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has obtained evidence suggesting that documents which have been described as technical studies for a secret Iranian nuclear weapons-related research program may have been fabricated.

The documents in question were acquired by U.S. intelligence in 2004 from a still unknown source -- most of them in the form of electronic files allegedly stolen from a laptop computer belonging to an Iranian researcher. The US has based much of its push for sanctions against Iran on these documents.

'It's leapfrog technology,' he said. The company plans to set up three factories to produce 4,000 plants between 2013 and 2023. 'We already have a pipeline for 100 reactors, and we are taking our time to tool up to mass-produce this reactor.'The first confirmed order came from TES, a Czech infrastructure company specialising in water plants and power plants. The US government has licensed the technology to Hyperion, a New Mexico-based company which said last week that it has taken its first firm orders and plans to start mass production within five years

'Our goal is to generate electricity for 10 cents a watt anywhere in the world,' said John Deal, chief executive of Hyperion. appears naturally within several scientific theories, and deserves to
be taken seriously," stated Aurelien Barrau, a French particle
physicist at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

There are a variety of competing theories based on the idea of parallel
universes, but the most basic idea is that if the universe is infinite,
then everything that could possibly occur has happened, is happening,
or will happen.

According to quantum mechanics, nothing at the subatomic scale can

Many of the essential elements of what is being proposed today can be found in the so-called Acheson-Lilienthal report of 1946

It emerges again, from the left, in the manifesto drafted by Bertrand Russell in 1955 and signed by Albert Einstein

And again, from the right, in Ronald Reagan's spontaneous offer to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev

So the dream has never died. Those justices take a liberal view on cases related to social, law and order and business issues, Kyl said.

"He believes in justices that have empathy," said Kyl, speaking at a Federalist Society meeting in Phoenix. Over the weekend President-elect Barack Obama scrubbed Change.gov, his transition Web site, deleting most of what had been a massive agenda copied directly from his campaign Web site.

Gone are the promises on how an Obama administration would handle 25 different agenda items - everything from Iraq and immigration to taxes and urban policy - all items laid out on his campaign Web site, www.BarackObama.com.

Instead, the official agenda on Change.gov has been boiled down to one vague paragraph proclaiming a plan “to revive the economy, to fix our health care, education, and social security systems, to define a clear path to energy independence, to end the war in Iraq responsibly and finish our mission in Afghanistan, and to work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, among many other domestic and foreign policy objectives.”
