Vicky: I would have to say the News Feed and Facebook Chat are two features I find very useful.

The News Feed lists the new applications, photos, links, video, notes, and such that my Friends have been doing or participating in on Facebook.

Another feature I really like is Facebook Chat, which is an instant message client.

If one of your Friends is using Facebook at the same time you are, you can chat using Facebook Chat.

Be a good friend and comment on other peoples photos, pictures, links, notes, and other communication.

Instead, utilizing a systematic model based on massive empirical research, they reveal the manner in which the news media are so subordinated to corporate and conservative interests that their function can only be described as that of "elite propaganda."

The corporations have two political parties. The people have none. Until we have a real opposition party and stop the Israeli Lobbyists who are distorting US citizens view about Palestine/Israel and imperiling Palestinian, Israeli and American lives I refuse to Listen to radio or watch TV. Most "left of center" radio is just a front for the Corporate war mongering Democrats. God forbid you critisize Israel for their barbarism. Cynthia McKinney (please youtube her) is getting my vote.

(CBS) It wasn't long ago that we weren't able to "Google" people, places and things.

But, observes CBS News Science and Technology Correspondent Daniel Sieberg, in just ten years, Google has grown exponentially from garage startup to Web juggernaut -- and a verb as well as a noun!

As Google marks its tenth anniversary this weekend, it's become "part of culture, much like Xerox," points out John Battelle, who wrote a best-seller about the rise of Google called "The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed Our Culture."

He notes that the verb "google" quickly became synonymous with speedy learning on virtually every subject.

A sizable minority of Americans find themselves at the intersection of these two long-standing trends in news consumption. Integrators, who get the news from both traditional sources and the internet, are a more engaged, sophisticated and demographically sought-after audience segment than those who mostly rely on traditional news sources. Integrators share some characteristics with a smaller, younger, more internet savvy audience segment - Net-Newsers - who principally turn to the web for news, and largely eschew traditional sources. Fuel Price is a Major Factor

The International Air Transport Association announced today that a revised financial forecast reports that the global airline industry could show losses of over 5 Billion US Dollars in 2008.

Industry analysts are reporting that although the price-per-barrel of oil has shown some stabilization over the past several months, the year-to-date average price of a barrel of oil is over 40$ higher than the average price for 2007.

Fuel prices continue to take an ever increasing larger piece of the airline industries operating expenses, up to 36% of total operating costs in 2008, up from just 12% in 2002.

Looks like McCain is tired of the wall-to-wall anti-Palin rhetoric of CNN:

According to CNN, Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) pulled out of a scheduled interview with the network after a segment with Campbell Brown and a top McCain spokesman Monday night in which Brown asked for examples of a foreign-policy decision made by Republican vice president pick Sarah Palin.

McCain was scheduled to appear on Larry King Live, but CNN's Wolf Blitzer said Tuesday that the campaign told the news network they thought Brown's interview with spokesman Tucker Bounds was "over the line."

CNN said it disagreed and it is committed to covering both sides of issues.

Yep, Obama's side and Biden's side.

“There was a time when the only definition (of news) is whatever you read or see on TV or in the newspaper,” Mike Fancher, editor-at-large for The Seattle Times, said at a community forum held Tuesday at The News Tribune. That was when TV and newspapers were the news gatekeepers.

“Print (journalism) is like a term paper,” Brewster said at the forum. “A reporter does his research and presents conclusions.

“But online journalism is much more like a conversation: ‘I’ve found out some things and here they are. What do you think?’ Or: ‘What can you add?’”

He said that truth-seeking in online journalism is more conversational and collaborative. And because the exchange of information is public, in the thread of comments that follows the original report, it can “breed greater confidence in the open-mindedness of the journalism.”
