This is most certainly a Freudian slip. It slipped out subconsciously, "My Muslim Faith", which he then corrected.

Has anybody seen an aerial view of his home in New Hyde Park, Chicago? Directly right across the street from a huge mosqe.

Imphal, Aug. 30: R. Sultana, an arts student of G.P. Women’s College here, dreams of an MBA degree and a job in a multinational company. But she doubts whether she will be able to fly that high as Muslims in Manipur still frown upon girls going for higher studies.

Sultana is not alone in her fight against this “discrimination” and “social injustice”. Over a hundred Muslim girls — from Class XI to graduation level — gathered at the State Guest House here today to form the All Manipur Muslim Girl Students’ Union — the first-ever union formed by Muslim girls in Manipur.

The formation of the association is the first move towards asserting their rights in matters of education and government jobs.

“Muslims are the most backward community in Manipur. And Muslim women are the least developed section. The women should assert themselves,” R.R. Ahamed, the chairman of a private school, said.

Mr Bello Abubakar challenged Muslim scholars two weeks ago

A Nigerian religious leader with 86 wives has accepted an Islamic decree ordering him to divorce all but four of them, local authorities say.

A spokesman for the emir of Bida told the BBC that Mohammadu Bello Abubakar, 84, agreed on Saturday to comply with the decree.

Last week one of Nigeria's top Islamic bodies, the Jamatu Nasril Islam, sentenced him to death.

The sentence was lifted but he was threatened with eviction from his home.

Earlier, Mr Abubakar had challenged Islamic scholars, saying there was no punishment stated in the Koran for having more than four wives.

"I have not contravened any established law that would warrant my being banished from the land... There is no law that says one must not marry more than four wives," the AFP news agency reported him as saying.

The former teacher and Islamic preacher lives in Niger State with his wives and at least 170 children.

Many of the wives live three to a room

PRISON bosses sparked fury yesterday after splashing out �25,000 to buy lunch boxes for Muslim terrorists and criminals.

The containers were handed out to nearly 250 inmates to keep their dinners warm in their cells during the Muslim festival of Ramadan.

The bright yellow metal flasks were issued to all Muslim prisoners in London’s top-security Belmarsh Jail — which houses scores of convicted and suspected terrorists.

They include hook-handed cleric Abu Hamza, 48, serving seven years for incitement to murder and racial hatred.

Prison officers at Belmarsh last night branded the decision �absolutely crazy�.

The boxes allow prisoners to keep meals warm until darkness when they are allowed to eat at the end of the fasting period during Ramadan, which began on Monday.

�It’s madness to allow dangerous prisoners to have a metal box with handles. These are not petty criminals — these are hardened terrorists.

Thousands of Shi'ites protested against the U.S. presence in Iraq, heeding orders from anti-U.S. cleric Moqtada al-Sadr for a peaceful show of force on the first Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Crowds of people waved photos of the reclusive cleric, dancing and shouting, following Friday prayers in Sadr City, a Shi'ite stronghold in northeastern Baghdad.

Several men burned a red, white and blue flag as they pledged support for the reclusive Sadr.

In the southern holy city of Najaf, several hundred protesters turned out for a parallel protest. "No, no to occupation!" read one banner.

The cleric, who is believed to be holed up in the Iranian city of Qom, has asked the bulk of his followers to dedicate themselves to helping poor Shi'ites and countering western influence in Iraq. He also ordered Friday's protests.

The purpose of post-World War I's League of Nations was to prepare those liberated from the Turks for independence. Once the indigenous populations demonstrated their ability to assume control, the mandates given to the war's victorious superpowers were supposed to be self-terminating. For the international community, justice for the Arabs meant guaranteeing their economic, civil, and religious rights. Awarding the Arabs any form of self-government within Palestine was precluded by British commitments to the Jews under the Balfour Declaration, which had been incorporated in the mandate of the League of Nations.[11]

At this point in history, post-World War I, political pressure caused the international community to endorse the Jewish desire for national self-determination and acc epted that the Jewish people had a justifiable claim to return to their homeland. Significantly, in this recognition, the Balfour Declaration and the Mandate under the League of Nations make no mention of Palestinians as a separate and distinct people with their own national rights. The indigenous people were regarded as residents whose political identity was connected to the larger Arab nation.[9]

For the British, the matter was quite clear: Palestine was not a state but the name of a geographical area. This had been reinforced by the indigenous Arabs themselves.

When the First Congress of Muslim-Christian Associations met in Jerusalem in February 1919 to select Palestinian Arab representatives for the Paris Peace Conference, they adopted the following resolution:

Note the language used by Eid in dismissing the gravity of the case: the case isn't serious because they were "more aspirational, perhaps, than operational"? Well, when it was the Liberty Seven -- black Muslim men who were described by the FBI as "aspirational rather than operational" -- there was no hesitation by the Justice Department in bringing charges.

Another funny thing: When a black man in prison sent a threatening letter containing baby powder to John McCain, Troy Eid brought down the full force of the law, complete with press conferences and public declarations that "We won't stand for threats of this kind in Colorado."

But when it’s a claque of white men with rifles, disguises, and all the accoutrement of a conspiracy – as well as open admissions to it – Troy Eid isn’t worried. After all, they just a bunch of harmless, tweakers, right? … Just like little Timmy McVeigh.

We noticed last week that it was awfully peculiar that Colorado’s U.S. Attorney, Troy Eid, had so airily dismissed conspiracy charges against the three white-supremacist tweakers who were caught planning to assassinate Barack Obama at last week’s Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Now it turns out that those suspicions were fully warranted:

The plot is similar to that in the 1992 movie "The Bodyguard" starring actors Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. In the movie, Costner stops an assassination attempt against Houston by spotting a weapon hidden inside a gutted-out TV camera.

Based on the evidence, FBI special agent Robert Sawyer believed there was probable cause to charge the men with conspiracy to kill Senator Obama. However, US Attorney Troy Eid last week said there is insufficient evidence to indicate a true threat, plot or conspiracy against the senator.

Somalia: Islamist Fighters Shut Down Restaurants

Islamist fighters have forced several restaurants to close for Ramadan in middle Shabelle because it would "violate the sanctity" of the month.

Authorities said serving daily meals are contrary to the order of Ramadan and it has been blocked the opening of restaurants during daylight hours during the month of fasting.

Several daily restaurants in the Ramadan have also been detained by the Islamic fighters.

The commander of Islamist fighters in Maxaas area where the incident happened Ali Bile has made it known that no-one will be permitted to violate the sanctity of the month.

The start of the ninth and holiest month in the Muslim calendar is determined by the sighting of the new moon, which means Muslims in various countries begin Ramadan at dawn one different days.

Politicians are too scared to speak out against forced marriage in case they lose valuable Muslim votes, according to a veteran Labour MP.

Ann Cryer said politicians in areas with high Muslim populations, many of which are Labour heartlands, should be at the forefront of the campaign to stop young couples being made to wed against their will by their families.

But she claimed that some politicians are afraid to speak out on the issue in case they alienate Muslim voters. The forced marriage unit at the Foreign Office deals with an estimated 300 cases every year, most of them involving teenage girls from Pakistani or Bangladeshi families.

Mrs Cryer, who is stepping down as MP for Keighley in West Yorkshire at the next general election, added that local Muslim leaders are not doing enough to encourage integration and accused them of trying to keep immigrants who move to Britain "in the backwoods".

It comes just days after Gordon Brown praised her "brave" campaign against forced marriage

It was three years ago this month that the Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, published twelve editorial cartoons satirizing Islamist terrorism. Some Muslim organizations objected. MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Mortar shells slammed into Somalia's capital on Wednesday as insurgents vowed to intensify attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Somalia already sees near-daily explosions of bloodshed, and thousands of Somalis — most of them civilians — have been killed since Islamic fighters began an Iraq-style insurgency in December 2006, after they were driven from power in Mogadishu and much of the south.

Wednesday's violence was the worst since Aug. 21, when four hours of fighting outside the presidential palace killed 12 people and injured 17 others.

"If we die while fasting for the sake of Allah, we will go to heaven," a 26-year-old Islamic fighter, Abdi Yusuf, told The Associated Press by telephone. "So there is no reason why we shouldn't intensify the fighting."

He said the Ramadan attacks do not violate the Quran because his fighters are battling "enemies of Allah."

Father Emmanuel Asi, secretary of the Catholic Bible Commission of Pakistan and parish priest of a large parish in Lahore, has told the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) that Christians in Pakistan are living "in constant fear and peril".

He cited the example of a 13 year old Christian girl who only recently had been kidnapped and raped by a Muslim man. Such incidents were a regular occurrence, he said. In order to avoid punishment for this crime, the man involved would simply assert that the woman was now a Muslim. He would "marry� her, but then send her away again after a short time. No one could do anything to stop this, since the victims were put under such great pressure by their "husbands" and threatened with death, so that they themselves would confirm in court, in the presence of their parents, that they had converted to Islam. In this way a Muslim man could abduct and rape any woman with impunity, he said.
