"What we are doing now is trying to make the model better. What we showed is just one color, what we are doing now is trying to use three colors. The original display was four inches by four inches and now we're going for something at least as big as a computer screen."

There are no more great barriers to overcome now, he said.

The breakthrough has made some long-time researchers of the technology believe that it could now come to fruition.

Clip Source: www.cnn.com

<img src="http://clipmarks.com/image_cache/Silkweaver/512/416EB311-4BB2-4E37-8F43-6937950F480D.jpg" alt="The future of television? But that’s just the beginning — the metropolis’s dirty air may have contributed to brain inflammation and intellectual deficits in at least some school-age children, a new study suggests.

Among healthy children aged 7 to 18, lifelong Mexico City residents scored lower than their peers from Polotitlán — a Mexican city with low levels of air pollution — on tests of memory, flexible thinking, novel problem-solving skill and the ability to monitor and change one’s behavior during challenging tasks, scientists report in an upcoming Brain and Cognition. These tests make up part of standard IQ measures for school children.

Tags: global warming, green, pollution, dumb and dumber

<clipSource>http://www.sciencenews.org/view/generic/id/37515/title/Bad_air_for_growing_brains_and_minds</clipSource>

Antisocial Behavior May Be Caused By Low Stress Hormone Levels

clipped by: Kelika
clipper's remarks: "The differences between participants with severe antisocial behaviour and those without were most marked under stressful conditions. While the average adolescents showed large increases in the amount of cortisol during the frustrating situation, cortisol levels actually went down in those with severe antisocial behaviour.

These results suggest that antisocial behaviour may be more biologically-based than previously considered, just as some individuals are more vulnerable to depression or anxiety due to their biological make-up."

Clip Source: www.sciencedaily.com

Levels of cortisol in the body usually increase when people undergo a stressful experience, such as public speaking, sitting an exam, or having surgery. It enhances memory formation and is thought to make people behave more cautiously and to help them regulate their emotions, particularly their temper and violent impulses.

The new research, funded by the Wellcome Trust, shows that adolescents with severe antisocial behaviour do not exhibit the same increase in cortisol levels when under stress as those without antisocial behaviour. These findings suggest that antisocial behaviour, at least in some cases, may be seen as a form of mental illness that is linked to physiological symptoms (involving a chemical imbalance of cortisol in the brain and body).

Reduced levels of the 'stress hormone' cortisol has been linked to antisocial behaviour in male adolescents. Concentrate When you meet someone new you might not even look at their face properly, so it's not surprising that you might forget them. That relates to everything: words, ideas, numbers. If you concentrate on something, you are more likely to remember it

2. Identify whether you are interested in something or not For example, you might not be interested in the name "Catherine" because you have heard it many times before. But if you know that, you can associate something else that you are interested in with the name "Catherine", if it's a name that you need to remember

3. Forge links If you have to remember a series of things, try linking each thing to a moment in a familiar story

4. Rummage your outer memories Practise recalling things that might be on the fringes of your memory, such as recently learned words or recipes

5. Practise daily At the end of each day, go through in your mind everything that has happened during the day.

<clipSource>http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/total-recall-how-to-remember-almost-anything-949097.html</clipSource>

John McCain Rightly Blames Fannie and Freddie

clipped by: Cezanne777
clipper's remarks: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are directly to blame for the economic crisis.
Lets face it, unless you have a photographic memory, no developer can remember all the different functions, options, tags, etc. that exist. Documentation can be cumbersome at times, thats why I like cheat sheets. They are quick references that feature the most commonly forgotten things on a specific topic. You can print them out and hang them on your wall, or just keep them handy in your bookmarks for quick reference.

I have rounded up over 30 cheatsheets that developers might find useful.

Sarah Palin is utterly unqualified to be vice president. She is a feisty, charismatic politician who has done some good things in Alaska. But she has never spent a day thinking about any important national or international issue, and this is a hell of a time to start. The next administration is going to face a set of challenges unlike any in recent memory. There is an ongoing military operation in Iraq that still costs $10 billion a month, a war against the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan that is not going well and is not easily fixed.

This is nonsense—a vapid emptying out of every catchphrase about economics that came into her head.

Clip Source: www.youtube.com

Clip Source: www.youtube.com

Tags: elections, election 08, mccain, palin, economy, crisis, video

<clipSource>http://www.newsweek.com/id/161204/page/2</clipSource>

Sweet smells foster sweet dreams

clipped by: reeds
clipper's remarks: Smell is the only sense that doesn't 'sleep'.

Clip Source: news.bbc.co.uk

When the smell of roses had been wafted under the noses of slumbering volunteers they reported experiencing pleasant emotions in their dreams.

Professor Tim Jacob, an expert in smell and taste at Cardiff University, said: "Smell is the only sense that doesn't 'sleep'. Information continues to reach the limbic system of the brain and that includes the hippocampus, or memory area and the amygdala, that is involved with emotional response.

"Other senses have to pass through the 'gate' of the thalamus, which is closed when we sleep."

For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
Theres always one reason
To feel not good enough
And its hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins

Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
Ill find some peace tonight

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
Youre in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
Theres vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack
It dont make no difference
Escaping one last time
Its easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel
