Boy’s Surface (Bryant-Kusner Parametrization) - new version: POV-Ray 3.6.1, 6/20/06

This one-sided surface was first parametrized correctly by Bernard Morin. The animation looks like it’s turning inside-out, although technically that’s impossible because it only has one side! Robert Bryant told me that the parameters (p,q) = (0,1) give this Willmore immersion of RP² a trilateral symmetry. The parameters (p,q) = (1,0) should give bilateral symmetry. New York City in HDR

Here is my small collection of Tone Mapped - High Dynamic Range Images of New York City. Most of these images were shot with three to six separate exposures to create each image. I always shoot my HDR photos with my camera on a tripod to help ensure that the images will align correctly during the creation of the high dynamic image. After the HDR image is converted to a tone mapped file, I will use Photoshop to make contrast and saturation adjustments to help give the photos the look I am going for. It is true that if you are looking at an image (such as a JPG or PNG file) on the web somewhere it is not actually an HDR image but most likely a tone mapped LDR (low dynamic range) image from an HDR source file. If you click on any of the images it will take you to my Flickr page for that specific photo. I hope you enjoy the photos and please do not use them without permission.

The political media establishment is enraptured by John McCain. Mainline media sparklies, as well as the blatherers on the Fox channel, routinely buff up his image as a straight-talking, maverick foe of Washington's special interests. "The press loves McCain. We're his base," gushes MSNBC's Chris Matthews. But if the senator really is the feared reformer of business-as-usual government, why does his presidential campaign look like the back alley of K Street?

McCain has already assembled his clique of advisors, and they don't have our best interests in mind.

There was a hilarious dustup in May when two of the campaign's key operatives were publicly fingered as lobbyists for the totalitarian military thugs who rule Burma. Bad image. To patch over this embarrassing exposure, the campaign dumped the duo and loudly proclaimed a new internal ethics rule barring lobbyists from paid positions on the "Straight Talk Express." Bold! Decisive! Laudable!

The Dutch Droste company's famous cocoa packaging is the origin of the name "Droste effect".

The nurse on the package carries a plate with a package, on which there is the same package, etc, etc..
