In last week’s Monday Blog Post I shared jail house interviews with you from two men who killed for nothing more than cigarettes and pocket change as evidence of why you should have a gun, training, and a Concealed Weapons Permit so you can carry a gun EVERYWHERE YOU GO.

If you have ever visited Washington DC, I’m sure you recognized that if you travel just a few blocks away, in any direction, from the park-like areas of monuments and government buildings, you are in the middle of urban blight that any law abiding person would want and need a gun for self defense protection.

It truly amazes me how our government, with all their tax dollars, manpower and entitlements for the underprivileged have not been able to clean up their own backyard!

This certainly hinders law enforcement and diminishes people's good sense when it comes to crime avoidance, thus leading to more crime victims. Scapegoating the higher incarceration rates of blacks and Hispanics on whites also promotes hatred of whites and hate crimes against them.

clipper's remarks: the death penalty and gun control. Mr. Obama endorsed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the District of Columbia’s gun-control law. We knew he ascribed to the anti-gun-control groups’ misreading of the Constitution as implying an individual right to bear arms. But it was distressing to see him declare that the court provided a guide to “reasonable regulations enacted by local communities to keep their streets safe.”

We were equally distressed by Mr. Obama’s criticism of the Supreme Court’s barring the death penalty for crimes that do not involve murder.

Mr. Obama’s shifts are striking because he was the candidate who proposed to change the face of politics.

We don’t want any “redefining” on these big questions. This country needs change it can believe in.

Barack Obama stirred his legions of supporters, and raised our hopes, promising to change the old order of things.

Now there seems to be a new Barack Obama on the hustings. First, he broke his promise to try to keep both major parties within public-financing limits for the general election

The new Barack Obama has abandoned his vow to filibuster an electronic wiretapping bill if it includes an immunity clause

The Barack Obama of the primary season used to brag that he would stand before interest groups and tell them tough truths. The new Mr. Obama tells evangelical Christians that he wants to expand President Bush’s policy of funneling public money for social spending to religious-based organizations — a policy that violates the separation of church and state and turns a government function into a charitable donation.

On top of these perplexing shifts in position, we find ourselves disagreeing powerfully with Mr. Obama on two other issues:

The court now in lockstep with the "R" ideology which protects the wealthy and gives a nose-thumb at those who need help. The kind of social order they wish to spread across our land, is not democracy. Not with, cruel punishment for those who can't pay their way out of a guilt accusation. Not with, melt down of habeas corpus. Not with, stripping a woman of her right to choose what's best for her body & circumstances. Not with, laws, claiming Voter Id's before one can vote. Not with, reducing punitive damages to large corp. who will become more reckless not having to face large losses to their beloved capital. Not with, dismantling gun-control laws putting all at risk of being murdered by the disgruntled, the disturbed who should never possess lethal weapons. NRA sues to overturn S.F. gun ban in city housing

SAN FRANCISCO — The National Rifle Association sued the city of San Francisco on Friday to overturn its ban on handguns in public housing, a day after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a handgun ban in the nation's capital.

In San Francisco, the NRA was joined by the Washington state-based Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and a gun owner who lives in the city's Valencia Gardens housing project.

Mayor Gavin Newsom said the city will "vigorously fight the NRA" and defended the ban as good for public safety.

San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera said that the Supreme Court ruling didn't address gun bans on government property and that he is "confident that our local gun control measures are on sound legal footing and will survive legal challenges."

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a sweeping ban on handguns in the nation's capital violated the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

The justices struck down the ban in a 5-4 decision, with Justice Antonin Scalia writing the opinion for the majority.

Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty said he was disappointed in the ruling but will give the district's police department 21 days to implement a process for registering handguns.

There were 143 gun-related murders in Washington last year, compared with 135 in 1976, when the handgun ban was enacted.

In a statement, President Bush also praised the decision, saying he agreed with the court's interpretation of the Constitution.

Political momentum for the bill increased after the Virginia Tech shootings last year, when a student shot and killed 32 people and then himself.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says that despite the Supreme Court decision to strike down its gun ban, the District of Columbia will still be able to regulate firearms.

"I think it still allows the District of Columbia to come forward with a law that’s less pervasive," Pelosi said at her weekly briefing Thursday. "I think the court left a lot of room to run in terms of concealed weapons and guns near schools."

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court declared for the first time on Thursday that the Constitution protects an individual’s right to have a gun, not just the right of the states to maintain militias.

But the court held that the individual right to possess a gun “for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home” is not unlimited. “It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose,” Justice Scalia wrote.

Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority in the landmark 5-to-4 decision, said the Constitution does not allow “the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home.” In so declaring, the majority found that a gun-control law in the nation’s capital went too far by making it nearly impossible to own a handgun.

clipper's remarks: but see even Scalia's "but" statements. They still want to "infringe". The idea of having a permit would be repugnant to Patrick Henry and the colonists of 1776. Notice how close this vote was, 5 to 4 by the Supremes, and even the most conservative do not deny some restrictions may be applied. "Shall not be infringed" is illegible to them apparently.

So go buy yourself a Glock and learn how to safely use it. It's best to buy from private owners to keep yourself out of the "infringement" of federal data-bases which tracks gun sales, and could be accessed under PATRIOT ACT provisions upon any government desire to do so.

My question is, what about the 4th amendment? This should be the next focus of challenges.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Individual Americans have a right to own guns, the Supreme Court ruled on Thursday for the first time in history, striking down a strict gun control law in the U.S. capital.

The landmark 5-4 ruling marked the first time in nearly 70 years the high court has addressed the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It rejected the argument the right to keep and bear arms was tied to service in a state militia.

Justice Antonin Scalia said for the majority the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with militia service and to use it for traditional lawful purposes, such as self-defense in the home. However, he said the new right was not unlimited.

The court struck down two parts of the country's strictest gun control law adopted in Washington, D.C., 32 years ago -- the ban on private handgun possession and the requirement that firearms kept at home be unloaded and disassembled

6 Big Rigs Hit By Gunfire On I-95

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The search is on for a shooter who has been taking aim at trucks traveling on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County.

The Florida Highway Patrol initially reported it was investigating after three tractor-trailer rigs -- one a gasoline tanker truck -- were hit by gunfire overnight Thursday, WJXT reported.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at least one bullet hit a gasoline tanker truck. About 50 gallons of gas were spilled before firefighters could plug the leak.

Another trucker said he heard a loud bang and pulled over at a rest stop and saw a bullet hole in his door

Since the original reports, more truck drivers have come forward, and authorities said at least six trucks have been fired upon.

Basically playing these songs with some volume out your car is the equivalent of waving a red flag at a bull. Only the flag has a picture of you smacking his wife while doing stuff to his mother and the bull has a gun and can call for up to fifteen more bulls to help put some pain in you. This is discretionary music. I know how people like to talk big and sometimes you need some swagger to survive in the game, but be smart about what you’re listening to around cops. While they may choose to spare you stick time, there are some chances that just aren’t worth taking.
