A note threatening to kill police officers was left at the bombing site, sources had said earlier.

Pugel said an item found at the maintenance yard was similar to one found near the shooting scene. Law-enforcement sources said the item was an American flag.

News reports at the time said fliers also were left at the maintenance yard referring to an anti-police-brutality rally and citing the case of a King County sheriff's deputy accused of assaulting a teenage girl in a SeaTac holding cell.

An American flag left at the scene of Officer Timothy Brenton's slaying on Halloween and at a city maintenance yard where four police vehicles were torched on Oct. 22 gave

Clip Source: seattletimes.nwsource.com

An American flag left at the scene of Officer Timothy Brenton's slaying on Halloween and at a city maintenance yard where four police vehicles were torched on Oct. 22 gave investigators a key link between the two crimes even before a Tukwila man was identified as the suspect.

Detectives are now trying to determine why the man suspected of both crimes, Christopher John Monfort, 41, held a grudge against police that went from destructive to lethal in the span of nine days.

Monfort was shot Friday afternoon outside his Tukwila apartment after police said he pulled a gun on detectives. Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It will require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.

This bill was introduced on Feb. 24, 2009, by the Obama staff. BUT this bill will only become public knowledge 30 days after the new law becomes effective! This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act o f 1986. This means that the Finance Committee has passed this without the Senate voting on it at all.

She returned home a day after telling police her boyfriend threatened to kill her to find a 10-day eviction notice taped to her door. She didn't terminate her lease early – she was given no choice in the matter. Luckily Aimco dropped this fee, but only after the Chicago Tribune inquired.

This story is horrific and unfortunately not uncommon. While the Violence Against Women Act of 2005 protects domestic abuse victims who live in public or subsidized housing from eviction, the law concerning private landlords is unclear. This lack of protection for women who rent in the private market creates a disincentive for women to report abuse, trapping women, and often their children, in violent relationships with no legal recourse.

Clip Source: www.care2.com

When Kathy Cleaves-Milan's boyfriend brandished a gun and promised to end both of their lives is she left him she knew it was time to involve the police, if not for herself for the sake of her daughter.

She made the call to police and got help, but a day later she received some surprising news: She was being evicted.

Why? According to the managers of the complex, she had violated the terms of her lease by reporting criminal activity to the police – that is for reporting her boyfriend's death threats.

"I was punished for protecting myself and my daughter," Cleaves-Milan, 36, said.

Did they expect her to choose between staying with her abusive boyfriend or keeping a roof over her families head?

So while the company admits that Cleaves-Milan's status as a domestic violence victim certainly influenced their decision to serve her with eviction papers, they also assumed that a single woman would be unable to make rent without a man by her side.

<clipSource>http://www.care2.com/causes/womens-rights/blog/evicted-for-reporting-domestic-abuse/</clipSource>

Lil Wayne Going to Jail

clipped by: major_killer

Clip Source: news.90up.com

Lil Wayne Going to Jail

Lil Wayne Going to Jail – Lil Wayne will plead guilty for his possession of a .40 caliber gun found on his bus in 2007. It specifically states:

The regulation of intrastate commerce is vested in the states under the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution of the United States, particularly if not expressly preempted by federal law. Congress has not expressly preempted state regulation of intrastate commerce pertaining to the manufacture on an intrastate basis of firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition.

Rohrer, in a recent letter to Pennsylvania House Members, addressed the issue of the commerce clause...Read more here

Clip Source: www.ammoland.com

Pennsylvania ‘Firearms Freedom Act’ Legislation Introduced
At times this is a necessity because police officers often find themselves in situations where a high degree of assertiveness is all that stands between them and losing control of a situation. I also know from personal experience that if police officers are not constantly reminded of the dangers of crossing the line through their use of their authority, then abuse of their power is a virtual certainty. Further, as with any minority (and police are a minority), associates tend to stick together. That police will back up one another, even when their fellow officers are wrong, is as dependable as sunrise.

Clip Source: www.laprogressive.com

A Teachable Moment: Police Authority and Racism

by <A title="Posts by Charles D. One of the things that psychology has made clear about primates and humans is that males in positions of power experience a rise in testosterone. Put a low-level male in charge of a group, and in time he will blossom into an alpha male with the appropriate level of hormones for the job. This also applies to females, perhaps to a lesser degree. Put a badge and gun on a man or a woman, and in time a bold persona becomes part of a law officer’s personality. It begins to feel right, and it defaults to overt assertiveness when one’s official authority reaches into gray areas.

Tags: police authority, racism, police brutality

<clipSource>http://www.laprogressive.com/2009/08/01/a-teachable-moment-police-authority-and-racism/</clipSource>

Authorities Investigate Lake Elsinore Explosion

clipped by: merrie
clipper's remarks: My contact also says that the victim told the hospital it was a gun shot that blew up his hand, but doctors could obviously see that wasn't the case and alerted authorities.

As my contact says. My contact continues, "We are confident right now that this does not involve state sponsored terrorism."

However, the FBI, ATF and Sheriff's Office are all looking at this case as possible domestic terrorism since there are a number of growing skinhead groups in the area and the other remote areas east of Los Angeles where this blast happened.

Tags: children day-care, explosives, fbi, marijuana cultivation

<clipSource>http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/10/08/lake-elsinore-blast/</clipSource>

Gun-toting PA soccer mom, husband found shot dead

clipped by: Lexica
clipper's remarks: "Remember, there's no connection – and you would be a fool and a communist to make one – between having a gun and shooting somebody with it and not having a gun and not shooting somebody with it." – Bill Hicks

More:
Meleanie Hain made headlines after she attended her then 5-year-old daughter's soccer game in a park on Sept. 11, 2008, with her 9mm Glock pistol in plain view holstered on her hip, upsetting other parents.

The county sheriff, Michael DeLeo, revoked her gun-carrying permit nine days later.

Hain successfully appealed the permit revocation, although the judge who restored the permit questioned her judgment and said she had "scared the devil" out of other people at the game…

DeLeo said at Hain's appeal that he revoked her permit after fielding the parents' complaints. It's depressingly simple. On any given weekend, at dozens of gun shows held in states across the country -- criminals can buy guns from "private sellers" who are not required to perform background checks.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has identified gun shows as the source of more than 30% of all illegally trafficked guns in the country. Those are the guns most likely to be used in crimes -- and to kill innocent people, including police officers.

Today, New York City is releasing the results of a multi-state investigation into this activity: "Gun Show Undercover." We sent investigators with hidden cameras to seven gun shows across Ohio, Tennessee and Nevada, and we found out just how easy it is for criminals and the mentally ill to walk in and buy guns -- no questions asked.

Our investigator tells a seller that he "probably couldn't pass" a background check and tests a gun.

Tags: guns, law, rights, crime, violence

<clipSource>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-bloomberg/gun-show-undercover_b_312339.html</clipSource>

Law enforcement fails caught on camera - courtesy of failblog

clipped by: The Infowarrior
clipper's remarks: If they cant even be responsible enough not to hurt them selves why trust them not to hurt us. but at least they give us a laugh occasionally.

Clip Source: www.theregister.co.uk

This is short and sweet - big time law enforcement fail in Texas, courtesy of FAIL Blog:

A good effort, but for the all-time classic try this 2004 gun safety lecture in which a Drug Enforcement Agency operative demonstrates why you really shouldn't play with a Glock 40:

Tags: police, fail, blog, taser, gunshot, funny, politics, news, lol, fun

<clipSource>http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/11/13/cop_tasers_self/</clipSource>
