clipper's remarks: Google Chrome has the slick ability to turn any page or site into its own application, similar to Fluid on Mac OS X. With Chrome, we can turn Tasks into a standalone app with just a few clicks. I find it handy to have my to-do list separate so I don’t get distracted with e-mail or Google Chat while I’m working.

I love Gmail Tasks. It’s my to-do list of choice for its simplicity, portability, and (of course) integration with Gmail. If you’re a fan of Google Chrome, you can also easily add Tasks as an application directly on your desktop.

Enable Gmail Tasks

First things first, if you have not already enabled Tasks in Gmail, it’s time to do so. Within Gmail, go to Settings –> Labs. Scroll down until you find Tasks, and switch it to Enable.

You will now find a Tasks link near your Contacts. This is all fine and dandy, but now let’s see how you can quickly make it a stand-alone application.

Integration with Google Chrome

Here’s how to do it: Launch Chrome and go to https://mail.google.com/tasks/ig. If it asks for a username and password, check the box to remember it. You should now see a full-browser version of your Tasks, but we’re not finished yet!

Go to the Page Dropdown Menu and click Create application shortcuts.

A Google Gears window will spawn.

That’s it!

News Corp Sites May Be Removed From Google

News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch has suggested the company's online newspaper pages – including FoxNews.com, whose parent is News Corp. — will be invisible to Google users when it launches its new paid content strategy.

He claimed that readers who randomly reach a page via an Internet search hold little value to advertisers.

When asked by Sky News Australia's political editor David Speers why News Corp has not stopped Google from finding its content, Mr Murdoch replied: "I think we will."

Sorry, My Page Dissappeared

What a day it was yesterday and I’m sorry you were disappointed.

I created a FREE Video walk through of how Google Local Business works and how you absolutely must me in there to be in the best spot for attracting new clients.

The video was then uploaded to our Amazon S3 account.

The blog page was created for the video and published.

Our team (including yours truly) tested that everything worked and then the blog page was published.

So far so good.

So the next thing was to let my subscribers know about this FREE Video.

We tested the email (before I sent it to my subscribers) to ensure that the links to the video worked, which they did.

At this point when everything was aligned we pressed the button and the emails went out.

For the first couple of hours everything was running fine with hundreds of people clicking on the link in their email and then watching the video.

MY PAGE DISAPPEARED !!!!!!!!!!

For valid extensions, the Installed extensions section in the Extensions manager, displays the confirming information.
Uninstalling or disabling the extensions is also just a matter of a single click from the extensions page.

But all this brouhaha for just three sample extensions! It could be a big letdown, if not for third party developers working behind the scenes on extensions of their own. I can straightaway suggest to you two sites that could empower your browser by a bit…

These sites are not associated to Google but are merely a place for independent developers. But they are the groundbreakers in every sense of the word as Chrome tries to become the internet’s Swiss army knife like Firefox. The salvo has been fired by Google. With time it could be a toss-up between browsers. We just have to pick the browser we want.

Google Chrome now officially supports browser extensions.

Google Chrome extension support is still not a feature of the stable version of Chrome but you get it in the latest build of the dev channel release

So let’s get up and running with installing extensions in Google Chrome.

Download and run the 2MB Dev Channel installer from the Chromium Developer page.

Type in chrome://extensions/ in the location bar of a new window or tab.

Access it by clicking the wrench icon and then Extensions.

a direct route to search and select Google Chrome extensions is lacking.

Click the install link below the snapshots and download the package and install in Chrome. If you have downloaded it to your hard drive, just drag and drop it into the browser window.

Google said on Tuesday, in response to threats by Rupert Murdoch to ban the search engine from listing content from his news empire, that any company could ask to have stories taken off.

In an interview in Australia, Murdoch accused Google of stealing stories from News Corp newspapers for the Google News service, and said he might ban them once he introduces charges for the papers' online editions.

Google said it was up to individual news organisations to decide whether they wanted their stories listed on Google News, and there were "simple technical standards" that would remove them if they wished.

"News organisations are in complete control over whether and how much of their content appears in search results," it said said in a statement issued in London.

"Publishers put their content on the web because they want it to be found, so very few choose not to include their material in Google News and web search. But if they tell us not to include it, we don't."

Rupert Murdoch says he will remove stories from Google's search index as a way to encourage people to pay for content online.

In an interview with Sky News Australia, the mogul said that newspapers in his media empire – including the Sun, the Times and the Wall Street Journal – would consider blocking Google entirely once they had enacted plans to charge people for reading their stories on the web.

In recent months, Murdoch his lieutenants have stepped up their war of words with Google, accusing it of "kleptomania" and acting as a "parasite" for including News Corp content in its Google News pages. But asked why News Corp executives had not chosen to simply remove their websites entirely from Google's search indexes – a simple technical operation – Murdoch said just such a move was on the cards.

Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, is considering removing his newspapers’ content from Google’s search index.

“I think we will [remove our websites from Google’s search index] but that’s when we start charging,” he said.

He added: "The people who simply just pick up everything and run with it – steal our stories, we say they steal our stories - they just take them. That's Google, that's Microsoft, that's Ask.com, a whole lot of people ... they shouldn't have had it free all the time, and I think we've been asleep."

Mr Murdoch, who has been vocal with his negative views of Google and its effect on the newspaper industry, said his stable of newspapers, which include The Times and The Sun, could be taken off Google’s search index when his plan to implement paywalls comes into effect.

He is planning to make newspapers like The Times and Sunday Times chargeable online.

Using the robots.txt protocol on a site indicates to automated web spiders such as Google's not to index that particular page or to serve up links to it in users' search results.

He said: "There's not enough advertising in the world to make all the websites profitable. We'd rather have fewer people coming to our websites but paying.

Users of Google's search engine will soon have the option to include content created by friends in search results lists.

"We've been thinking about social networks for a long time," said Mayer, without any hint that the meteoric rise of social networks might be a source of concern at Google.

Social Search, said Mayer, recognizes a fundamental need for real-time information and demonstrates Google's commitment to innovating in search.

Social Search will be launched in a few weeks as a Google Labs experiment. As its name suggest, it integrates information created by people in a searcher's Google network -- defined by one's list of Google Contacts -- into Google search results.

Google as accidentally published a video detailing a new feature coming to your Google account: transparency. The feature, called "Google Dashboard" gives new insight and control into the data Google has on you.
