Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley's only child, gave birth to twin baby girls on October 7, celebrity news TV show "Entertainment Tonight" said on its website on Saturday.

The girls, whose names were not given, were delivered by cesarean section and weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces (2.7 kg) and 5 pounds, 2 ounces (2.3 kg).

The twins are the first children born to Presley, 40, and her musician husband Michael Lockwood, 47.

Twins run in the Presley family. Her father, who died in 1977, was a twin and her mother, Priscilla Presley, has younger brothers who are twins, ET said.

The half sister of Cindy McCain, wife of presidential candidate John McCain, has died of Alzheimer's disease, the family announced.

Dixie Lea Burd, 74, died on Tuesday in Phoenix. She had been in a nursing home for the past two years, and Cindy McCain arranged for her to go into hospice care, son Bob Burd said.

Cindy McCain and Dixie Burd had the same mother. Marguerite "Dixie" Johnson married Cindy McCain's father, the late James Hensley, in 1945.

Emily Machado was only two years old when her mother Nigia Machado fled from the United States. She is now in hiding in another County.

The mother Nigia Machado has committed a crime, Parental Abduction. She has denied Emily's father his rights under the law to be with his daughter.

Michael Sanchez; Emily's dad needs our help. The District Attorney of Nothern Illinois has yet to file criminal charges against the mother.

A Hawaii state judge waived Family Court jurisdiction today over a New Zealand teenager accused of strangling his neighbour last year, leaving the youth liable to jail for life without parole if convicted.

The judge's decision allowed Honolulu police and prosecutors to charge Vernon Bartley, 16, as an adult, and homicide detectives immediately arrested Bartley and took him to a Honolulu Police Department cellblock, the Honolulu Star Bulletin reported.

If Vernon Bartley had not been waived to adult court, he might have been released on his 19th birthday.

The 16 year old accused of raping and killing an Ewa Beach woman is in police cellblock charged with first degree murder.

Bartley, who moved to Hawaii from New Zealand in 2005, was 15 when Ms Ertell's body was found.

The teenager has been arrested more than 10 times since moving to Hawaii, for offences such as burglary, trespassing, and theft.

Detroit, MI - Two-year-old Tangena Hussain of Hamtramck, Michigan, was last seen at 8:45 on Thursday evening at the Marathon Gas Station in Detroit. Or was she? Her mother’s boyfriend (but not Tangena’s father) Jamrul Hussain, 27, says that Tangena was in the back seat of his car when he stopped at the gas station to buy candy and juice for the child. They were on their way to pick up Tangena’s mother, Nilufa Begum, from work at Northland Mall.

When Jamrul Hussain got back to his car, he said, Tangena was gone. But rather than call police or alert the store personnel, Hussain went to pick up Begum as scheduled, telling her that he would “take her to her daughter”. Instead, he took Begum back to the place where he said he lost her baby girl. Sound familiar, anyone?

Katina Haralson reported her 14-year-old daughter, Katrea Young, missing to police after the girl failed to return home from a Bible study class.

It’s likely Young ran away rather than was abducted, her mother said.

Haralson described her daughter as 5 feet tall and weighing 100 pounds with scars on her chin and her left hand. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white athletic shoes.

“We miss her and we’re begging for her to come home,” Haralson said. “We want whoever is with her to contact us and let us know that she’s OK. Her father and brothers are very worried about her, too.”

(Sir) Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817-1911) came from an eminent family of naturalists and botanists and developed a passion for plants early in life, when, from the age of seven, he attended lectures given by his father on botany at Glasgow University. Travel stories that he heard as a child, particularly those related to the voyages of Captain Cook, would prove equally influential in the trajectory of Dalton's career.

After completing his medical training, Hooker signed on to the position of Assistant Surgeon aboard HMS Erebus. The Erebus and HMS Terror, under the command of renowned polar explorer, Captain James Clark Ross, left Britain in 1839 on a three year expedition - the last major voyage of discovery powered by sail alone - attempting to locate the south magnetic pole.

The world's tallest man, China's Bao Xishun, became the world's tallest father this week with the birth of his first child, a boy whose initial height seems a compromise between his gigantic dad and average-sized mum.

Although slightly taller than average for newborn children, Bao's boy came up well short of the 29.5 inches claimed as a record birth length last year, also in China.

Bao, a 7-foot-9-inch herdsman from Inner Mongolia, last year married Xia Shujuan, a pygmy by contrast at 5-foot-6 inches.

"I hope he or she can be about 2 metres tall," Bao, 57, said last year about his wishes for a child. "Then he or she can play basketball."

Bao's son was born on Thursday but news of the birth only spread widely on Saturday, with the Chinese press according the newborn a level of privacy that is rare for the world's tallest man.

A Southeast Arkansas woman who argued she lost custody of her son because of a judge's perception of her alleged practice of Wicca lost her appeal Wednesday before a divided state Court of Appeals Wednesday.

In a 4-2 ruling, the appeals court affirmed a decision granting custody to the child's father, though the judges disagreed on whether the lower court considered the mother's religious beliefs.

In the appeals court ruling Wednesday, Judge Robert J. Gladwin wrote that religious beliefs and practices are material only as they affect children's best interests, and in this case "no party explored connections between religious belief and upbringing."

A decade and a half after shooting her abusive husband in the head, Cassandra Johnson seemed to have finally found peace in her life with a steady job, a growing family and a renewed sense of confidence.

Until her next husband allegedly turned on her.

Randy Lipkins, the father of Johnson's first child and a man she trusted to protect her, killed her earlier his month, according to Miami-Dade police, allegedly stabbing her 22 times and smashing her face with a hammer, leaving the body to rot in his apartment for four days.

"I totally thought Cassandra was going to make it," Edith Georgi, the public defender who helped Johnson escape a murder charge in the shooting of her first husband, told ABCNews.com.

Parents Legally Abandon Their Children

clipper's remarks: My initial reaction to this story was repulsion, first towards the parents for giving up all rights to their children. Fortunately they didn't just walk away and leave the children to fend for themselves.

Secondly, the article states the original intention of the Safe Haven Law was to "protect newborn children, if a parent is overwhelmed." If this was the case, then why didn't lawmakers write the law to state exactly this?

Lawmakers need to be held responsible for the way in which they write laws. When we elect officials to write laws we assume they are articulate enough and educated enough to actually write laws that spell out exactly what is intended instead of leaving it open to other interpretations.

Now these children have become an additional burden on taxpayers and the parents are free to continue their irresponsible procreation which will produce even more of a drain on society. These people need to have vasectomies and tubal ligation.

A Creighton University Medical Center Nursing Supervisor told KETV NewsWatch 7 a man left all nine of his children at the hospital Wednesday night.

The children are between 1 and 17-years-old.

The father will not be charged because of the safe haven law which states any child under the age of 19 can be left at a hospital if they're in immediate danger.

This is the fourth case of children ages 11, 13, and 15 being dropped off at a hospital since it became a law in July.

In the wake of children being abandoned by their parents, Nebraska officials will try to clarify the new 'safe haven' law on Thursday.

Child Rape Trial Delayed

For eight months, Wheelus has sat through hearing after hearing, as attorneys argued over what evidence would be allowed in her cousin's unprecedented case. According to prosecutors, Rebecca was 10-years-old when she confided in a friend, saying her step-father, Bob Ingle, began raping her when she was eight. Rebecca testified twice before a Grand Jury and gave statements to investigators, but she died in a car crash before the case went to trial. Ingle's attorney has argued his client, who was also a Chickasaw police officer, has a right to confront his accuser in court, and now that she's dead, he wants the charges dropped.

Michael Harbin, who represents Ingle, filed a motion late last week to appeal Judge Michael Youngpeter's decision to allow the testimony of Rebecca's young friend, her sister, a doctor and a nurse, delaying the case for at least several months, according to Steve Giardini, Mobile County Assistant District Attorney.

Neighbours alert charity to abuse

At least 7,000 seriously abused children received help last year after concerned neighbours alerted the NSPCC, the charity has revealed.

The organisation's Helpline service received nearly 10,000 calls so grave that they had to be referred to police and social services in 2007. One in three of these calls came from people living near the abused child.

According to the NSPCC, one recent telephone call was from a neighbour who described a young girl being threatened with an axe by her father. Another neighbour alerted the charity after seeing a mother dangle her two-year-old child by the wrist from a second-floor window.

"Thankfully, there are many responsible neighbours who are looking out for these children. But we want more to join them and to call as soon as they suspect something is wrong.

The NSPCC has announced a £50m Child's Voice Appeal to expand its helplines.
