Exposing the Bi-Partisan Myth of Clean Coal

There’s at least one topic the candidates in the US elections won’t be wrangling over: so-called “clean” coal. That’s because they all support it.

Since 2000, McCain has accepted nearly three times the donations from the coal industry as Obama and Biden combined ($51,850 for McCain versus $17,100 and $3,000 for Obama and Biden, respectively).

And yet even as Obama raises the progressive voice on a number of issues, he has proclaimed the virtues of “clean” coal as widely and vociferously as McCain.

Clean coal is a farce.

Trouble is, there’s no such thing as “clean” coal. It’s a marketing myth promoted by the big coal companies in order to rake in more public subsidies. Here’s why “clean coal” is a farce and should be opposed at every turn:

clipper's remarks: Voting is a very personal thing. What is right for me may not be right for you. It is something that we should all use our best judgment when doing. But it seems to me to be a waste to vote for a Republican or a Democrat and then expect anything to change for the better. There is an old adage that says something to the effect of if you keep trying the same failed solution to the same problem, you´ll get the same results. In fact, doing that is one definition of crazy. The time has come to shake up the establishment. A vote for a third, forth, fifth or sixth party candidate is not a wasted vote. I believe the majority of Americans in their hearts know this to be true, they just don´t seem to be able to let their brains act upon it. Hopefully, this can change.

I still believe that most third parties are significantly better (at least in some respects) than either the Democrats or the Republicans. It´s sad to think that a hundred million or more votes are going to be wasted on men like Barack Obama and John McCain who obviously couldn´t care less about the foundations this country was built upon. It´s insanity to keep electing these same party politicians over and over again and expect to get different results.

It is well past time the stranglehold this duopoly has on the nation was broken and someone else got the opportunity to lead. The change that this nation needs will not come from the establishment candidates who simply pay lip service to the concept of change. Perhaps the change needs to come from the people. We must be the change we seek. To help accomplish this, we need to change the types of people we vote into office. Unfortunately, I don´t foresee the vast majority of Americans suddenly becoming enlightened.

A leading Iranian reformist says he will run in next year's presidential elections, challenging President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is widely expected to seek a second term.

Former parliamentary speaker Mehdi Karoubi announced his candidacy for the June 2009 poll at a news conference in Tehran Sunday. He said Mr. Ahmadinejad's administration has failed in its handling of foreign policy and economic issues.

Karoubi also criticized the president for denying the Holocaust. He said Mr. Ahmadinejad's past remarks have cost the country a great deal.

President Ahmadinejad has come under strong criticism from fellow conservatives for his handling of Iran's high inflation and other economic problems. Some of his conservative critics may challenge him for the presidency.

However, Mr. Ahmadinejad has won crucial backing from the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Having the State Elections Office spelling the names of the candidates correctly is a rather important thing. Three proof readers apparently missed this; we told.

My Point is really about another claim of so-called Voter Fraud mentioned frequently on clipmarks: The dastardly ACORN conspiracy to steal the elections by submitting phony names on voter registration cards.

Phony names, like: Barrack Osama.

The best description of the ACORN accusations, I now realize, is that the Republicans were trying to "make a mountain out of a molehill." -- deliberately whining about this and every stupid thing under the sun, like Obama using the words: "lipstick on a pig," or the bad photo of Palin in Newsweek and Nothing of Substance.

I've seen voter fraud. It was a whole voting booth found in the town dump one week after elections.

This stuff? Mountains out of molehills to distract and rile up ignorant emotions.

In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago "New Party". The 'New Party' was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist 'New Party' was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations "fusion" reform platform as unconstitutional.

There have been earlier stories of home flipping schemes that made liberal use of illegal aliens as straw buyers and the FBI has followed numerous cases to prosecution and conviction. But the Old Media have not done much with this story.

KFYI reports that these fraudulent straw purchases of mortgages by illegal aliens has affected every state in the union.

The problem began years ago when banks were forced to give mortgages without confirming social security numbers or borrower identification. As a result, illegal immigrants were able to obtain home mortgages which they could not afford.

Lax immigration laws have also helped make this crime easy to perpetrate.

In 1965 a Democrat Controlled Congress under President Lyndon Johnson passed the concept of “chain” immigration into law. A later commission named the Hesburgh Commission convened during Ronald Reagan’s first term, found that this concept statistically allowed each single immigrant to bring into this country 84 of his family members

Americans United for Separation of Church and State today filed complaints with the Internal Revenue Service about six churches whose pastors endorsed candidates from the pulpit during a mass defiance of federal tax law last Sunday.

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), a Religious Right legal group in Scottsdale, Ariz., urged pastors to defy federal tax law by endorsing or opposing candidates during a so-called “Pulpit Freedom Sunday” Sept. 28. The shortness part, isn't why I am blogging this. Because I could care less if McCain is touchy about his lack of tallness. What I did find interesting was in the comment section, at the bottom of the webpage. A comment made by an ex-Air Force officer, who remarked about John McCain's POW HERO status and lack there of. Now I don't know if this ex-Air Force officer knew John McCain or not. But never-the-less, it raises a lot of suspicion about Maverick McCain's Hero Rank. I can't help but wonder, why the Obama Camp doesn't seem interested in using it, the same way the NASTY ONES, on the other side of the political arena would... (THE RED SIDE)

I'm glad it's finally coming out that this man is NO hero!

A man at the center of a voter-registration scandal told The Post yesterday he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times, in apparent violation of Ohio laws.

"Sometimes, they come up and bribe me with a cigarette, or they'll give me a dollar to sign up," said Freddie Johnson, 19, who filled out 72 separate voter-registration cards over an 18-month period at the behest of the left-leaning Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

"The ACORN people are everywhere, looking to sign people up. I tell them I am already registered. The girl said, 'You are?' I say, 'Yup,' and then they say, 'Can you just sign up again?' " he said.

It's even under investigation in Bridgeport, Conn., for allegedly registering a 7-year-old girl to vote, according to the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

Bribing citizens with gifts, property or anything of value is a fourth-degree felony in Ohio

Why polls are underestimating Obama's chances

First, there is a fairly strong tendency for late shifts in preferences to favor the incumbent party when the economy is strong and the out-party when the economy is weak; that makes Sen. Obama's position stronger than it looks in current polls.

Second,

given the pattern of new registrations and the apparent strength of the two campaigns' voter mobilization efforts, Sen. Obama seems more likely to benefit than to lose support from unexpected turnout.

Third, the possibility that undecided white voters may, in the end, be unable to bring themselves to vote for Sen. Obama on racial grounds makes his position somewhat more precarious than it would otherwise be. It is very difficult to estimate the importance of the racial factor (that is, the extent to which racial antipathy is not already reflected in current polls), but my guess is that this is less important than the other two factors, both of which seem likely to work in Sen. Obama's favor.

Venezuela shuts down McDonald's

Venezuela's government has shut all branches of restaurant chain McDonald's for 48 hours, citing tax irregularities, officials have said.

The head of the country's tax agency, Jose David Cabello, said the chain had inconsistencies in its accounts.

The 115 branches in Venezuela were closed from Thursday to Saturday.

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez is a fierce US critic and last month was at the heart of tit-for-tat US-Latin American diplomatic expulsions.

Oil battle

Since winning elections 10 years ago, Mr Chavez has increased taxes and often temporarily shuts firms accused of failing to pay.

The government recently temporarily closed the offices of Pepsi, which is operated by a local consortium.

Mr Chavez has also taken on US oil firms, nationalising their Venezuelan operations and pursuing a legal battle with Exxon Mobil.
