And children eating multiple servings per day of canned foods with BPA levels comparable to the ones we found in some tested products could get a dose of BPA approaching levels that have caused adverse effects in several animal studies… Drinking three servings per day of canned apple juice with BPA levels comparable to the levels found in our samples could result in a dose of BPA that is more than our experts' daily upper limit.

Clip Source: www.consumerreports.org

The chemical Bisphenol A, which has been used for years in clear plastic bottles and food-can liners, has been restricted

brands of similar foods analyzed. We even found the chemical in some products in cans that were labeled "BPA-free."

4. The statement (0x2b||!0x2b) makes sense to you.

5. You find 4 funny.

6. You note with disgust that it always evaluates to true, since
0x2b != 0.

7. Point 6 disgusts you, because under other languages than C++
(Java, per se), it would throw an exception, runtime error, etc.

has no relation to what comes to mind.

11. You can write formal grammar statements for C, C++, C#, Java,
Perl, Python, PHP, HTML, any XML schema, Assembly, Obj-C, QBASIC,
XBASIC, OO.o BASIC, StarMath, and just about anything else I could
throw at you, and yet the question, "Is our children learning?"
raises no red flags.

12.You quit drinking coffee; caffeine I/Vs are easier.

It’s time to get creative. Next time you have an ache or pain, forget about a costly trip to the drugstore and test drive some of your grandmother’s remedies instead. Recessionistas (and Gents), welcome to the DIY medicine cabinet.

Sore Throat
Sore, scratchy throats are usually a sign of a cold or flu coming on, so you don’t want to ignore this symptom, but you can relieve the pain by gargling with warm salt water a few times a day and then drinking a soothing honey-lemon tea.

Stop Bleeding

You’d think it would burn, but a sprinkle of cayenne pepper on a cut will quickly stop the bleeding and actually relieve the pain.

Clip Source: www.care2.com

Nausea
All the medical thinking backed up your husband's thoughts. Then, a number of studies showed that yes, caffeine is a dehydrating agent... if you use it for the first time and your body is not used to it. If caffeine is in your regular diet, it will not act as a dehydrating agent.

Some say caffeine is an ergogenic aid and pop No Doz to improve performance. As a physician, I do not recommend doing that, or increasing your normal caffeine consumption. Some still say that higher levels of caffeine put you at risk for heat illness. So stay within yourself and don't overdo it. And don't rub it in to your husband that you were right!

Tags: running, running-doc, health, nutrition, hydration, caffeine, coffee

<clipSource>http://runningdoctor.runnersworld.com/2008/06/will-drinking-c.html</clipSource>

How much should I drink during long runs?

clipped by: Lexica
clipper's remarks: The revised fluid recommendations from the International Marathon Medical Director’s Association (IMMDA).

Clip Source: aimsworldrunning.org

What should you drink?
The evidence on this is
clear. If your event or workout is longer than 30 minutes you should be drinking
a sports drink.

There is
actually decreased benefit to watering down or diluting sports drinks or
alternating sports drinks with water.

How much should you drink?
Drinking too much or too
little can be of risk to health and performance.

your body’s need for fluid is individual

We offer the following ideas and guidelines for you to
consider

Try to drink to thirst

seems way too
simple to be true

new scientific evidence says
that thirst will actually protect athletes from the hazards of both over and
underdrinking

If you
are not thirsty, try to refrain from drinking

We endorse thirst as the best scientifically supported method for you to
use

alternate methods may not take into account changes in ambient
conditions, running speed and terrain which can all change dynamically which
thirst as a method to use does

Tags: running, marathon, health, hydration

<clipSource>http://aimsworldrunning.org/guidelines_fluid_replacement.htm</clipSource>

Running Doc: Beer actually is good for what ails you (in moderation)

clipped by: Lexica
clipper's remarks: This is excellent news, since Spiritualmonkey and I have already been making plans for post-marathon recovery, and they include peanuts and beer.

Clip Source: runningdoctor.runnersworld.com

beer actually does have some medicinal purposes.
