Following on from yesterday's post on our visit to the Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain's first ever conference on "Political Islam, Sharia Law and Civil Society", there are now lots of goodies for you to read and watch on the web. I'll give you a rundown and then you can click away.

The Council have put all the video footage from the day on their website, which includes all three debates, Nick Doody's comedy set and Richard Dawkins' dissection of Harun Yahya's "arguments" for creation. They've also written a brief report on the day and put up some photographs.

Richard Dawkins also wrote his report on the conference on his web forum on Saturday, in two parts. Read part 1 followed by part 2.

There's loads of great content in the videos, but in embedding one in this post I just had to go with Nick Doody's fantastic stand-up set:

I seldom ever watch SNL but came across this article on a skit - the video was pulled - edited and reposted - however it nows seems it was pulled again and is not available - guess people with power got their way.

Edited SNL subprime video also happens to excise Barney Frank's involvement

Not every comedy sketch on "Saturday Night Live" has to do with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

But there's an unusual twist this week over another SNL skit. This one concerns a long, satirical bit about the Washington financial bailout bill including a "President Bush," a House Speaker "Nancy Pelosi" and a Rep. "Barney Frank."

Pelosi introduces a series of alleged "victims" of the Wall Street mess, who include two men clearly unqualified to have any kind of mortgage, a well-to-do couple who speculated in condos and lost all but 10% of their profits and an older couple, Herb and Marion Sandler.

Tina Fey ‘leaving Earth’ if Palin wins

Tina Fey is generating big laughs and big audiences for “Saturday Night Live” with her impersonation of Gov. Sarah Palin, but the actress hopes it doesn't last.

“We're gonna take it week by week. If she wins, I'm done,” Fey tells TV Guide in the Oct. 20 issue. “I can't do that for four years. And by ‘I'm done,’ I mean I'm leaving Earth.”

The “30 Rock” star also said the election season and playing Sen. John McCain's running mate has been a fun and busy time.

“Election time is always good for ('SNL,') and this is a bonkers election,” Fey said. “And that lady is a media star. She is a fascinating person. She's very likable. She's fun to play, and the two bits with Amy (Poehler) — that was super fun.”

Letterman still pounding McCain-Palin

Doesn't matter that John McCain promised to appear on David Letterman's CBS show Thursday, as a makeup for blowing him off earlier. Dave continued his ongoing pounding of McCain -- and Sarah Palin -- on his show Monday. It's like Dave doesn't believe McCain will show.

From the monologue:

"And the third presidential debate is Wednesday night. John McCain says he's going to win. John McCain is going to win the third presidential debate. Of course, he also told Custer the surge was working."

"But it's going to be a big week for John McCain. Don't kid yourself. Today and tomorrow he'll be campaigning. Wednesday is the debate. And then on Thursday, he cancels on me again."

Candy light bulbs bring holiday cheer to dollar store shoppers

clipper's remarks: Nearly every person in the store looked like they just came from the Jerry Springer audience. There were a lot of old sweatshirts with cliche sayings or Looney Tunes characters on them, bottle blondes who needed to touch up their roots, men who looked like Todd from Beavis and Butt-head loading up on Christmas gifts for their families, and many people who looked like they only came in there to hang out because they had nowhere else to go.
As we passed one suspicious looking man, my friend remarked, “Everyone in here looks like they’ve done time.”
As if by some scripted coincidence, seconds later, a woman in the next isle remarked loudly, “Well, I’m finally allowed to see my kids again, so...” before trailing off.
We went up and down each isle, looking for the one item that would perfectly encapsulate the experience, the Holy Grail of garbage, until we saw..... candy light bulbs!

The dollar store can be a magical place. At first glance, it can seem like a shop filled with cheap crap that was probably made by little slave children in some foreign country, things that didn’t sell when they were in a real store, damaged or slightly askew goods, and lame little trinkets that make you ask, “Who would buy this?!” But, if you look a bit closer at dollar stores, you will see that they can be a bizarre wonderland of crap-tastic items.

During my most recent trip to one of these crap temples, I overheard some of the best conversation and found some of the most unique items that I’ve ever seen. A family friend joined us during this expedition and was shocked, to say the least, at what he witnessed there.

The McCain Wander

Here's something I noticed earlier this week: The late-night comedy shows all seemed to have the same takeaway from Tuesday's presidential debate. Yes, "That one" got lots of play, but actually I'm talking about something even more ubiquitous: The McCain Wander.

It was actually amazing how similar the pickup was — on Wednesday night, both Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien did back-to-back bits on it, and then last night both Jon Stewart and SNL Thursday spoofed McCain's aimless meanderings around the townhall stage. "What are you doing McCain?" Both the Daily Show and Conan took the liberty of adding their own audio track.

We've taken the liberty of collecting the clips together for you (thanks to HuffPo vid whiz Patrick Waldo for same). If three's a trend, four makes it official: The McCain Wander is comedy gold.

It could have been the set for Ronnie Barker's television comedy Open All Hours.

Builders were astonished to find this shop frozen in time, with a 1927 bill to repair the building for £36 15s 7d, ancient bottles of medicine and magazines from the Thirties.

Council workmen went to check out the boarded-up terraced shop in Accrington, Lancashire, after concerns were raised over the building's safety.

But when they removed the boarding, they found a perfectly preserved old-fashioned corner shop and ice cream parlour.

Cigarette adverts from the Fifties, a magazine giving a day-by-day account of the young Princess Elizabeth's tour of Australia in 1938, ice cream spoons and old-fashioned sweet jars were on display.

He said: 'It is like time stood still. There are items 60 years old where they were left. People keep asking me if they can make a visit because it brings back so many memories.

No joke! Kimmel, Silverman split after 5 years

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and his comedienne girlfriend Sarah Silverman have called it quits after five years together according to Vanity Fair.

The magazine's blog VF Daily reports that Kimmel's representative Lewis Kay and Silverman's rep Amy Zvi both confirmed the two are no longer dating. The reps issued a joint statement saying, "Jimmy and Sarah have will have no further comment."

Kimmel is the host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on ABC. Silverman stars in "The Sarah Silverman Program" on Comedy Central.

The couple scored hits on YouTube this year when both made mock music videos professing their "love" for Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
