For over 30 years, Amma has been traveling the globe, giving hugs to everyone she meets, asking nothing in return. Though she considers herself spiritual, she does not advocate any particular religion – her message is love, pure and simple.

So why does she do it? As Amma told BBC News, "Love is a very special, very uplifting vibration. That's what I'm trying to give people. It's like visiting a perfume factory. Consciously or unconsciously you will carry that fragrance around with you."

In each city she visits, Amma doles out hugs all day long, often until as late as two or three in the morning, until everyone's gotten a turn.

she is the founder of a charity called Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Many of her followers contribute money to the organization in appreciation of Amma's hugs.

By Kathryn Hawkins

<clipSource>http://www.gimundo.com/Articles/Daily/736/7/21/2008/Amma:_The_Original_Free_Hugs_Lady</clipSource>

Canon laser engine cross-reference chart

clipped by: colavin

Clip Source: www.printerassociates.com

This is a call for community participation. Canon partnered with the American Park Network to offset their carbon with the purchase of trees. The APN then donates trees to local parks and works with community groups to plant them.
It would be a cool deal, but it's not much coming from canon. Not while they continue to produce highly wasteful print cartridges, and as far as I can see still haven't come out with a refillable cartridge. Canon is so so NOT GREEN!

Clip Source: www.everyonesaygreen.com

Linden-Bushwick Garden, New York, NY

Located on the corner of Linden & Broadway, the Linden-Bushwick Block Association Garden is an oasis in the middle of the urban jungle. This island, known locally as the Secret Garden, has a long storied history, enjoying both highs and lows. In spite of the long-term care of community members, the garden has once again fallen on hard times and is at a critical juncture. We endeavor to breathe new life into the space by creating a farmer’s market to provide produce for local residents, and converting the garden’s “wild” section into a nature preserve and an "outdoor classroom" for area schools.

Canon and American Park Network invite New Yorkers from every borough and beyond to help restore the Linden-Bushwick Garden to its former glory. Join us as we remove detritus, invasive plants, rebuild walkways to make the garden a welcome destination for the community at large.

Tags: greenwashing, products, urban, nyc, park, community, public-private partnership

<clipSource>http://www.everyonesaygreen.com/get-involved/linden-bushwick</clipSource>

21.1 megapixel Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Full-Frame, Full-HD video

clipped by: rmowery
clipper's remarks: Not even sure what I would do with 21.1 megapixels, heck not sure what I do with 8 megapixels I have now.

Clip Source: www.engadget.com

21.1 megapixel Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Full-Frame, Full-HD video

After a brief tease, Canon just got official with its EOS 5D Mark II. A 21 megapixel 'full-frame' camera, the Mark II can record high-def video as well.

A full-frame camera is capable of delivering the full range of a SLR lens, such that a 24-to-105 mm lens actually delivers a 24 mm wide-angle view. The ability is useful to photographers who want to shoot scenes like landscapes.

The video option gives a 1920x1080 resolution at 30 frames per second for up to 12 minutes of continuous recording. Output is MPEG-4 with CD-grade audio and it records sound in stereo. Since the SLR flips up to record video, users aren't able to lock the focus, but live view has three different focus modes: quick, contrast and detection.

The printable coupons don't require special software (some sites do). A recent check found a coupon for $10 off a $60 purchase at the athletic shoe store finishline.com and a printable coupon for 25 percent off a pair of jeans at Gap. We searched for the 1.7-ounce bottle of Vera Wang's Princess fragrance and found the lowest price ($43.95) through DealCatcher, versus $55 at sephora.com and nordstrom.com. The Canon PowerShot SD790 IS ten-megapixel digital camera was $299.99 at bestbuy.com. But DealCatcher found it at dell.com for $243 (including free shipping).

Tags: readers digest, great deal on anything, deals, coupons, online checkout codes

<clipSource>http://www.rd.com/advice-and-know-how/best-deals-and-bargains-on-gas-cars-and-more/article99717.html</clipSource>
