These smears have been floating around in email chain letters, but even still, this really shows just how low and how desperate the McCain campaign is. Not Larry Sabato:

The LA Times scoops the Virginia media with this column from the McCain campaign's official Buchanan County representative. You need to read this column to believe it. In "humor" he accuses Obama of wanting to paint the White House black, supporting reparations, changing the national anthem to the "black national anthem", teaching "black liberation theology in all churches", and replacing the flag with a "star and crescent logo".

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin brings up Bill Ayers at a campaign stop in Carson, California:

Those blacks who are educated and informed will likely vote for the best ticket - McCain-Palin. Education and self-sufficiency tends to eradicate racism. ZerObama's black vote is nothing more than a vote for more racism. Unhappily for the ZerO, there are more uneducated racist whites than blacks who will nicely cancel out this black racist vote for the ZerO.

In a video posted on YouTube, the swingman is shown at Allen Iverson's charity flag football game in July. When the national anthem is being sung, various participants are shown mugging for the camera. When the camera gets to Howard, he says: " 'The Star-Spangled Banner' is going on. I don't celebrate this [expletive]. I'm black."

Howard goes on to make a difficult-to-discern comment that includes a reference to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

How many times have we witnessed, not only athletes but fans in the stands of sporting events, talking and shuffling around while the National Anthem is being played?

Where is the respect?

Whatever anyone's personal believes and attitudes are towards what this country symbolizes, we all owe a great debt to those individuals who have died fghting for our right to be Americans.

There once was a time when every person actually took off their hats, put their hands over their hearts, stood in silence, and actually gave thought to what it means to be an American while the National Anthem was being played.

If you think that tradition is overplayed, if you think it is too 'old fashined' to show respect to our nation's symbol, if you have no respect for your status as an American citizen, then get the hell out of my country and don't disrespect my right to contemplate what has gone into the making of this nation.

The battered reputation of Josh Howard took another hit this week when an online video surfaced showing the Dallas Mavericks forward disrespecting the national anthem.

In a video posted on YouTube, Howard is shown on a football field at a charity flag football game. As the national anthem plays in the background, Howard approaches a camera and says: The Star Spangled Banner is going on right now. I don't even celebrate that [expletive]. I'm black."

His German Tiergarten speech with "Citizens of the world!" -- a direct echo of "Workers of the world!" from the Communist Manifesto of 1848.

"We are the change we've been waiting for!" It's repeated in The Obama Hustle over and over again. But it's just Fidel Castro's slogan, "La Revolucion Somos Nosotros!" --- "We are the Revolution!"

Most Americans don't know that Obama's Soviet Realism pics are just imitation Lenin posters. The same thing for The Decembrist rock band to echo the Russian Decemberist rebellion. That's why the Decembrist rockers play the Soviet National Anthem to start their concerts. Get it?

The whole idea that Obama is a devout Christian is another fraud; he's a militant atheist, just like Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright.

When the medals were awarded for the men's 200-meter sprint at the 1968 Olympic Games, Life magazine photographer John Dominis was only about 20 feet away from the podium. "I didn't think it was a big news event," Dominis says. "I was expecting a normal ceremony. I hardly noticed what was happening when I was shooting."

Smith and Carlos, winners of the gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the event, had come to the ceremony dressed to protest: wearing black socks and no shoes to symbolize African-American poverty, a black glove to express African-American strength and unity. (Smith also wore a scarf, and Carlos beads, in memory of lynching victims.) As the national anthem played and an international TV audience watched, each man bowed his head and raised a fist. Mayor John Hickenlooper’s annual State of the City address may get more attention for what wasn’t included than what was.
At the start of the event Tuesday morning, City Council President Michael Hancock introduced singer Rene Marie to perform the national anthem.
Instead, she performed the song “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” which is also known as the “black national anthem.”
When she finished, the audience responded with mild applause. The national anthem was never performed.
Marie told 9NEWS she kept her plans to switch songs quiet until the very last moment. She says only she, her husband and a friend knew she was going to sing something other than the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
She says she wanted to express her love of her country by mixing the lyrics of “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” with the melody of the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
