When Barack Obama didn't hear Reverend Wright say those awful things about America, he still should have rushed the stage, smite Reverend Wright with the cross, and left the church. If there's anything the right wing can agree on, it's that. And that gays are going hell, right after they suck them off in the airport bathroom.

But it raises an obvious question, one that I haven't heard asked, which is strange because it's so obvious: If you leave a church when the head of the church says bad things about America, what do you do when your church hierarchy is caught up in a systematic and decades-long sex abuse scandal? And did I mention the people being sexually abused were children? Hundreds of them?

How about when the head of that church, or Pope, associated with and promoted members of the clergy who not only facilitated the sexual abuse and rape of hundreds and hundreds of children, but engaged in a decades-long cover-up of those crimes?

Stop Saying Iraq Is Another Vietnam; It's Another Enron

Iraq is Enron, and President Bush is Ken Lay. He's fighting a war with phony accounting tricks. The Bush administration fudged the numbers to get us into Iraq, and cooked the books to keep us there. "The surge" is simply another in a long series of inflated stock quotes.

Last Friday morning the Senate Democratic Policy Committee held a hearing entitled "The Mistreatment of Iraq Contracting Whistleblowers," just in time to make the Friday news dump. According to the committee more than $10 billion dollars in Iraq reconstruction and military support contracts is unaccounted for.

If you stole that much money from the Mafia you'd be dead.

Some Iraq contract whistleblowers have been vilified and fired, others have been detained by the US military and subjected to harsh interrogation techniques.

State Department workers, and Iraqi embassy and ministry workers. Vance described Shield Groups as "a Wal-Mart for guns."

Bill Maher says it would be better if Dick Cheney were dead. Nice going, Bill...I am sure the Vice President appreciates the vote of confidence. But this is not a surprise...those on the extreme left have been saying such outrageous things for the entire Bush Administration. Here's what he actually said.

Speaking on his HBO show [video], Maher, who once famously said that 9/11 hijackers were "warriors" (just before his show was canceled,) had this to say about Cheney: "I'm just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That's a fact." So there you have it. If the Vice President had been assassinated in Afghanistan, more people would live. This according to Bill Maher. Not sure what he means here....does he mean the war in Iraq would end? Last time I checked, Dick Cheney wasn't president of the United States.

As a bonus for Bill Maher, you won't hear much about this in the press.

A lot of different right wing voices have "coincidentally" started chirping on the topic. But no one does much to contradict the science behind the doubt; or the obvious inconsistentcies -- especially surrounding the "plane" crash at the Pentagon.
I think the people who caused 911 are worried that the truth is catching up with them.

Bill Maher recently sat down with outgoing Nebraska GOP Senator Chuck Hagel to discuss Iraq, his departure and the fate of the Republican Party.

Maher asks: "Did you decide not to run for President because you just saw that a (sic) anti-war Republican could never get the nomination?"

"No," responds Hagel, "I was actually looking for some honest work."

On the prospect of the United States winding down from Iraq, Hagel predicts a "very high toll" taken on the country for a long time ahead.

Adds Hagel, "And I think that's wrong."

"I've heard a lot of Republicans in the last year or so say 'I want my party back,'" says Maher. "I imagine you're somewhat in the same camp. Do you think the Republican party has been hijacked by incompetents and religious fanatics?"

"Oh, I think it's been hijacked by incompetency," Hagel concedes. "I think that's what has driven the Republican Party right off the cliff, and we are not who we say we are."
