Do you sometimes erupt in anger? The trigger can be a passing remark. And yet that small remark can trigger a major eruption. What is it that brings us to the tipping point where resentment turns into fury?

Here are some steps you can follow:

Take time out

Let go of resentful thoughts

Apologize to your partner.

Explain why you responded to the minor occasion in such a major way

Use “I” statements, instead of “you” statements.

Describe emotions, not thoughts.

Use language of peace, not of war

Speak up when you feel resentful.

Exercise regularly to let go of some of the tension.

Say what you like, as well as what you don’t like about a person’s behavior.

Be a loving, trustworthy, honest partner.

Harper recording in Cadman affair intact: expert

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper's contention that a tape recording was doctored to implicate him in a bribery scandal involving the late MP Chuck Cadman was contradicted Friday by the very specialist Harper hired to analyze the tape.

A judge ordered an inspection of the tape after Harper launched a $3.5-million libel suit against the Liberal Party of Canada.

However, audio expert Bruce Koenig, a former FBI agent who was hired by the Harper team to check the tape, filed a report on Friday which contradicts Harper's court testimony and finds that the key section of the tape contains no splices, edits or alterations.

The McCain Wander

Here's something I noticed earlier this week: The late-night comedy shows all seemed to have the same takeaway from Tuesday's presidential debate. Yes, "That one" got lots of play, but actually I'm talking about something even more ubiquitous: The McCain Wander.

It was actually amazing how similar the pickup was — on Wednesday night, both Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien did back-to-back bits on it, and then last night both Jon Stewart and SNL Thursday spoofed McCain's aimless meanderings around the townhall stage. "What are you doing McCain?" Both the Daily Show and Conan took the liberty of adding their own audio track.

We've taken the liberty of collecting the clips together for you (thanks to HuffPo vid whiz Patrick Waldo for same). If three's a trend, four makes it official: The McCain Wander is comedy gold.

Shreveport police chief Henry Whitehorn has confirmed that police are reviewing audio and video of the incident and will submit the case to the city prosecutor's office for possible prosecution of the actors.

A bar brawl that ended with two stars of Oliver Stone's new George Bush biopic, W, under arrest has taken a dark turn, with new reports charging that police used pepper spray and racial slurs on the Hollywood actors.

Josh Brolin, who plays the US president for Stone, and Jeffrey Wright, who portrays Colin Powell, were arrested in the small hours of Saturday morning outside a bar in Shreveport, Louisiana. The film has been shooting there for months.

"Science News has up a feature on the first use of sound recording in a presidential campaign. In 1908, for the first time, presidential candidates recorded their voices on wax cylinders. Their voices could be brought into the home for 35 cents, equivalent to about $8 now. In that pre-radio era, this was the only way, short of hearing a speech at a whistle stop, that you could hear the candidates. The story includes audio recordings from the 1908 candidates, William Jennings Bryan and William Howard Taft. Bryan's speech, on bank failures, seems sadly prescient now. Taft's, on the progress of the Negro, sounds condescending to modern ears but was progressive at the time. There are great images from the campaign; lots of fun."

For a long time -- the first 15 years that we knew about global warming and did nothing -- there were no pictures. That was one of the reasons for inaction.

Climate change was still "theoretical," the word that people in power use to dismiss anything for which pictures do not exist. It is the reason we don't see shots of coffins coming back from Iraq; it's the reason the only prison abuse we really know about was at Abu Ghraib. Without pictures, no uproar; not in a visual age.

But now the pictures have started to come, and they will not cease.

Hear God’s Word (Luke 11:28; Romans 10:17), which means that listening to sermons, lectures, and audio Bibles is very beneficial.
Read God’s Word (e.g., Revelation 1:3) as Jesus often did.
Study God’s Word (e.g., Ezra 7:10; Acts 17:11) as Jesus often did, which caused people to be amazed at His insights (Matthew 7:28–29).
Memorize God’s Word (Psalm 119:11; Proverbs 22:17–19) as Jesus did, which enabled Him to freely quote Scripture as needed (e.g., Matthew 4:1–11).

Afghanistan is back in the news

The British ambassador to Afghanistan has been quoted in a French newspaper as saying that the American military strategy in that country is “destined to fail.” Ambassador Sherard Cowper-Coles’ critical comments about the NATO operation in Afghanistan were part of a leaked memo from a French diplomat. He also said: “The coalition presence–particularly the military presence–is part of the problem, not the solution.”

The British ambassador’s leaked statements were published just as the top US commander in Afghanistan called for 3 additional combat brigades, that is over 10,000 soldiers, to be immediately deployed to Kabul. General David McKiernan told reporters in Washington DC Wednesday that Americans were facing a ‘tough fight’ in Afghanistan that “might get worse before it gets better.”

The I found this video of multiple bears coming and playing with dogs. I'm not entirely sure if this is the same polar bear(s) with the same dogs or if this is an entirely different set of animals

My husky loves to tackle me as a morning greeting and it drives me nuts.. now I wonder if I should get her a polar bear. XD
