Davison is a inspirational speaker who provides encouragement, guidance to the people and empowers to let go of beliefs that limit them with the right choices and attitude.

Clip Source: www.danielrdavison.org

Daniel R. Davison is a quad-amputee who reaches and moves his audience to understand that choices and attitude determine results.

Daniel shares his powerful story of adversity — a victim of severe child abuse which led to involvement in drug trafficking and organized crime. Although Daniel was a talented, passionate and successful musician, his life in the fast lane was associated with a heavy appetite for drugs and self-destructive behavior. While under the influence, he had an accident which led to severe frostbite requiring amputation of a portion of all four limbs. Instead of wallowing in self-pity and giving up on life however, Daniel rose above all odds — excelling in music, sailing, horseback riding and most of all, positively influencing others through sharing his story. Daniel's greatest asset and passion is his ability to reach out to others and empower them to make positive choices in their lives.

Tags: inspirational speaker, adversity speaker, christian motivational speaker, corporate motivation, corporate motivator, corporate speaker

<clipSource>http://www.danielrdavison.org/</clipSource>

What disability?

clipped by: pcmkrfn
clipper's remarks: So cool!

Clip Source: www.mentalfloss.com

Kyle Maynard was born missing the biggest parts of his arms and legs due to congental amputation, a condition in which the limbs are constricted and die due to lack of oxygen in utero. Yet he became a grade school football player and then a wrestler. Maynard’s high school record in wrestling was 35 wins and 16 losses. He now wrestles for the University of Georgia, where he is majoring in broadcast news. Maynard won an ESPY Award in 2004 for the Best Athlete With A Disability. These people are so obsessed with removing one or more of their limbs that they actually find the means and get it done.

Clip Source: www.slate.com

Baz remembers first seeing an amputee when he was a 4-year old boy in Liverpool. By the time he was 7 he had begun to think, "This is the way I should be." It was not until Baz was in his 50s, however, that he actually had his leg amputated. Baz froze his leg in dry ice until it was irreversibly damaged, then persuaded a surgeon to complete the job. When he awoke from the anesthetic and his left leg was gone, he says, "All my torment had disappeared."

Wannabes desperately wish to have their healthy limbs removed, and some have succeeded in having it done.

Why? Nobody really knows, including the wannabes themselves, who often say they have had the desire since they were children. "It's obviously peculiar," admits Kevin. "But knowing it is peculiar and saying it is weird does not do away with the problem."

In the meantime, psychiatrists are no closer to understanding the condition, and they are proposing no therapy other than amputation.

Tags: amputee, bodymod, weird, odd, strange

<clipSource>http://www.slate.com/id/2085402/</clipSource>
