clipper's remarks: Many who voted for Obama out of disgust for the Bush regime are now listening to the Republicans again on their car radios as they drive around looking for a suitable place to hide their vehicles from the repo man. Don't construe this as support for the GOP. It's just the standard ping ponging of disappointment and disgust that comes after the honeymoon is over with any administration. Most Americans' party affiliations are the same as they were when Bush was elected. After all, Obama did not get elected on a landslide by any means; he got 51% of the vote.

Right now his approval ratings are in the 40th percentile and would be headed for the basement of the league were it not for the residual effect of the Kool-Aid love fest a year ago. However, millions of American liberals remain faithful, and believe Obama will arise from the dead in the third year and ascend to glory. You will find them at Huffington Post.

Well lookee here! An invite from my limey comrades to recap Barack Obama's first year in office. Well comrades, I can do this thing two ways. I can simply state that the great mocha hope turned out to be a Trojan horse for Wall Street and the Pentagon. Or I can lay in an all-night stock of tequila, limes and reefer and puke up the entire miserable tale like some 5,000 word tequila purged Congolese stomach worm. I have chosen to do the latter.

As you may know, Obama's public approval ratings are taking a beating. Millions of his former cult members have awakened with a splitting hangover to find their pockets turned inside out and eviction notices on the doors of their 4,000 square foot subprime mortgaged

clipper's remarks: We're all aware of it, yet most of us continue to forget and take for granted that a glass of water is something that so many people in the world don't have access to. If you're reading this, then you're on a computer and you have internet access, so this likely isn't an issue for you. But for so many others, something we consider so basic is perhaps their greatest challenge. I tip my hat to Alyssa Milano for again reminding people to be grateful and to help those who aren't as lucky.

As we take a sip of our water from the fridge and don't think twice about it, there are people that have to walk hours a day fetching unsafe water from remote areas. Imagine that. Imagine having to walk for hours and hours, every day, just to retrieve contaminated water that will most likely get you sick and maybe even kill you. And the time spent collecting this water, keeps children out of school and women from pursuing economic growth. Not having access to clean drinking water perpetuates the cycle of poverty.

Sex and drugs – a cool lifestyle or your death sentence?

Just about everyone has tried some kind of drugs in their life. Consuming drugs at the weekends, or even taking some drugs at home every day has unfortunately become something very normal. Although drugs can help you to loose shyness and fear and feel free at parties regarding sexual behaviour, they have a real negative influence. Also, the stimulating effects of drugs have their limits and each kind of drug abuse can put you straight on the highway to hell. So, be aware of that!

Marihuana, cocaine, hashish, amphetamines, heroin, ecstasy, alcohol…the list of different types of drugs is already known, but not so the negative effects they have on our sex life. First you smoke a joint and have a beer in a relaxing atmosphere at home, then you go for some drinks with your friends in a pub and later you’ll end up in a club or a discotheque.

Love at first sight - utopia or reality

How would our life be without the most beautiful thing of the world, love? Well, it would be very sad and boring. Each one of us has surely had this special feeling of butterflies in the stomach; suddenly your legs are shaking and you can’t avoid this silly look you have on your face, neither can you stop looking or staring at this fascinating person who has just come through the door. As you can see, love at the first sight can really stream through your body within seconds. How is it possible to fall in love so fast with someone whose character we don’t even really know? Love at first sight: utopia or reality?

But where does this feeling of ‘that’s the right one’ come from? How can we be so sure about having found the great love of our life? Or was it really Cupid’s love arrows? In this case, scientists don’t spoil our romanticism and support our theory with studies and analysis.

2. How can you expand Medicare, potentially to tens of millions more people while cutting it by $500 billion?

3. The cuts in doctor and hospital reimbursement rates written into this bill will force hundreds of thousands of medical providers to refuse to treat Medicare patients. By applying these low reimbursements to patients 55-64, now, you are driving doctors out of the profession and discouraging others from entering it. A permanent scarcity of doctors will be the inevitable result.

4. The expansion of Medicaid to 150% of the poverty level imposes huge new financial burdens on states. It will cost Texas $3 billion, Pennsylvania $2 billion, California $2 billion, and Florida $1.3 billion. It will cost Arkansas and Louisiana $500 million each.

Faced with a massive center-right uprising, the Obama liberals have been forced to abandon a public option. But in doing so, they are throwing the Medicare program under the bus.

Already, we have been asking how you can treat a growing number of elderly with a Medicare program that this bill cuts by $500 billion dollars. Now, by adding tens of millions of people 55-64 to the program, it makes it even more financially untenable.

But the current proposal Reid is loudly trumpeting is horribly flawed as well.

It has all of the old flaws (minus the public option) in that the government, through the Secretary of Health, will decide who gets what treatment at what cost and will force rationing through an artificial scarcity on all people, particularly the elderly. And it still has such high premiums for young uninsured people that it will compete with student loans for the honor of being their number one headache.

But the compromise itself is flawed. Here’s why:

The insanity continues: “green jobs” are turning into “orange jumpsuit” jobs.

Unfortunately, most Americans remain unaware of the Federal Prison Industries’ (FPI) exploits. FPI employs cheap prison labor " compensating inmates at wages of between 23 cents and $1.15 an hour " to assemble products purchased by federal agencies under a mandatory source arrangement.

Mandatory source status means if a federal agency needs to purchase a product offered by FPI, the agency must buy it from FPI, even if the price is higher, the quality lower or the delivery longer than that of commercial products

FPI has used its competitive advantage for years to expand its business into such industries as furniture, vehicular components and textiles. Just recently we learned Traverse Bay Manufacturing Inc. a family-owned textile products business in northern Michigan, also is losing business to federal prisoners

The president recently held a “Jobs Summit” at the White House. Topping the agenda was the creation of “green jobs.” With the unemployment rate in Michigan hovering above 15 percent and the nation at 10 percent, a great deal of hope is being thrust upon the renewable energy industry and the promise of “green jobs.”

It appears, however, the administration is content with having those jobs performed by prisoners as opposed to law-abiding citizens.

President Barack Obama has started down the same road of the Clinton and Bush administrations by prioritizing the incarcerated population over the unemployed, and empowering the Department of Justice’s Federal Bureau of Prisons over free market job creators.

On the heels of news that United Solar Ovonic, a Rochester Hills-headquartered company and leader in production of solar panels, laid off approximately 80 of its workers at the company’s Greenville facility, we learned 160 prisoners

Animal Babies Braving the Cold

All animals pictured here are warm-blooded or homeothermic animals, meaning they have to keep their body temperature constant regardless of weather conditions. Sound familiar? Yes, humans are also warm-blooded, er, animals that need to don scarves, hats and gloves to maintain their body temperature of roughly 37 degrees.

The vast expanse of debris – in effect the world's largest rubbish dump – is held in place by swirling underwater currents. This drifting "soup" stretches from about 500 nautical miles off the Californian coast, across the northern Pacific, past Hawaii and almost as far as Japan.

Charles Moore, an American oceanographer who discovered the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" or "trash vortex", believes that about 100 million tons of flotsam are circulating in the region. Marcus Eriksen, a research director of the US-based Algalita Marine Research Foundation, which Mr Moore founded, said yesterday: "The original idea that people had was that it was an island of plastic garbage that you could almost walk on. It is not quite like that. It is almost like a plastic soup. It is endless for an area that is maybe twice the size as continental United States."

In 1953, eight years before his farewell address and in front of the American Society of Newspaper Editors, President Dwight Eisenhower cautioned his listeners about a "cross of iron."(1) He believed the potential for a just and peaceful post World War Two society was being squandered by the Cold War and Arms Race. President Eisenhower claimed, "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."(2) He also warned nations about maintaining powerful militaries and producing enormous weapons systems. He alleged they were "spending the sweat of their laborers, the genius of their scientists, and the hopes of their children." President Eisenhower then said, "This is not a way of life at all...it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."(3)

Last week, President Barack Obama announced plans to send 34,000 more troops to Afghanistan.
