Jupiter is in the news again, this time because its "Baby Red Spot" - a storm less than a year old - appears to have been swallowed up by the massive storm known as the Great Red Spot. This is good occasion to share some of the best photographs of Jupiter and its larger system of rings and moons, as seen by various probes and telescopes over the past 30 years. (16 photos total)

Disgusting. This is YOUR tax money being used to bail out rich investors who were so greedy that they just couldn't settle for usury of homeowners who could afford it, they had to try and fleece the poor too. They then sold off the lousy loans to poor countries and to our school systems as bonds. These ***** should be put in jail, not bailed out.

Will Space-Based Solar-Powered Lasers Solve Our Energy Future?

The latest and greatest way to generate energy is to launch plates made of chromium and neodymium into orbit, which then convert 42% of solar light into lasers, which then shoots down onto a facility that converts it into clean, usable power. Of course, something this high tech and futuristic sounding would be brought to us by the Japanese.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Osaka University are working together to develop the device, which converts sunlight into laser-light with four times the efficiency of any previous attempt. According to a report out of Tokyo, the team is working on Space-based solar power systems, which can collect sunlight in space and then convert it into laser light, which is then transmitted to Earth and used for electricity.

they hope to have a system ready for satellite mounting by 2030.

Mission accomplished, they were walking out when L/Cpl Croucher felt himself walk into a tripwire. The booby trap pulled the pin out of a grenade.

He told me that what happened next was instinctive.

" I saw the grenade land in front of me, so I had a split second decision to decide what to do. I had a quick look around and there was nowhere to take cover. I knew there was two lads who were directly behind me and a third further back than that," he says.

"So I thought, I'm going to get seriously injured whatever I do so I might as well jump in front of the grenade and at least try and save the rest of the lads from getting seriously injured or killed themselves. So I lay in front of the grenade."
