Although common in much of Britain, bluebells are rare in the rest of Europe and absent from the rest of the world. This picture was taken not far from my house in a lovely wood.
The bluebell is a bulbous plant abundant in woods, hedgerows, and meadows adjoining woods. It thrives in good soil with partial shade.
Carpets of spring-flowering English bluebells, Endymion nonscripta, are a familiar sight throughout mainland Britain, from Cape Wrath on the north coast of Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall. The symbol of the Botanical Society of the British Isles, they thrive in damp conditions. The theft of bluebell bulbs from their native woodlands has become an increasing problem in recent years.

they also show up from time to time as the wives of heroes and (often spurned) lovers of gods

When they aren't inhabiting some specific part of nature, they are often the attendents of more important deities.

A very well rounded shot, the Tapeworm really would be a super burden for your digestive track, but at least you can puke this Tapeworm out.

Once you poke through the layer of mayo, you get a glorious blast of vile liquid and you will probably feel symptoms associated with real tapeworms: abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, loss of appetite. "Death Star" pointing at Earth

Astronomers have spotted a binary star system that could collapse to produce a massive gamma-ray burst at any point during the next few hundred thousand years — and it is pointing at Earth.

Earth looks down the axis of the system. “It is pointing at us within a range of about 0–16º,” says Tuthill, who estimates it is most likely 12º off-centre.

The massive stars are certain to explode, and soon, astronomically speaking.

It is unclear how direct the burst would have to be to have an effect, says Tuthill. It has been variously postulated that a burst angle of 2–20º might put us outside the danger zone, but Tuthill says that even a miss of 12º would be dangerous for life on Earth.

A gamma-ray beam might not kill us all immediately. First there would be a bright flash, possibly blinding people, says Melott, then after a few hours the effects would begin in earnest.

It should explode as a supernova within a few hundred thousand years.
