recently made the world's largest freehand drawing on a dry lake in Nevada. How big is it? Three mile across. Jim walked for eight days, about 100 miles to draw the pattern. The drawing was transient, as all of Jim's work is: "It was completely erased in a rainstorm the next week... It felt strange to work so hard and not see tide come in. But rains did come which is sort of the same thing."

At low tide on wide beaches Jim searches the shore for a wave tossed stick. After finding a good stick and composing himself in the near and far environment Jim draws-- laboring up to 7 hours and walking as many as 30 miles.

THE planet Earth has dismissed claims it is in danger from global warming, stressing the worst that could happen is the extinction of the human race.

The Earth spoke out after a series of books, television programmes and environmental campaigns urged people to do everything in their power to 'Save the Planet'.

Earth, 4,000,000,000, said last night: "I'll be absolutely fine, seriously.

The planet, based 93 million miles from the Sun, said it was 'sick and tired' of being drawn into arguments about human behaviour.

Look, I'm just a planet doing its thing, alright? If you want to live on me, that's your business

Earth added: "Okay, so there may come a time when

I am no longer able to support pandas, polar bears, and humans, but you know what?

Let me assure you,

Life goes on.

The planet said environmental campaigners should change their slogan from 'Save the Planet' to something more relevant such as 'Save Your Sorry Arse'.

Single-celled organisms could be "trained" to deliver drugs.

A century after Pavlov's dog first salivated at the sound of a bell, researchers are saying that single-celled organisms such as bacteria can be "trained" to react in a similar way. Rather than use complex networks of nerve cells, or neurons, bacteria can "learn" to associate one stimulus with another by employing molecular circuits, according to a multidisciplinary team from Germany, Holland, and the United Kingdom.

This raises the possibility that bioengineers could teach old bacteria new tricks by having them act as sentinels for the human body, ready to spot and respond to signs of danger,

The basis for the claim is that single-celled organisms are able to associate stimuli that are applied simultaneously, according to the theoretical model produced by Chrisantha Fernando at the U.K.'s National Institute for Medical Research, in London, and his collaborators.

In fact, Reagan was not warning about a general lack of vigilance about freedom, he was warning what would happen if Medicare was enacted.

Vice presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin will debate this week.
What would you ask them about their religious beliefs and why?

I would support no candidate for national office who sought to impose a narrow religious viewpoint on our multifaceted nation or one who would appoint religiously ideological candidates to the Supreme Court. So it would not occur to me to question them about their religion unless they had given some indication that they were in fact religious imperialists. I appreciate our pluralistic society.

I regard Sarah Palin's support of "Creation Science" being taught in public school to be primarily a manifestation of ignorance, not religion, and I do not want ignorance in any national office. I also regard homophobia not as a religious issue, but as an issue in which prejudice overcomes knowledge.
