clipper's remarks: It's amazing how groups of people that would otherwise be mortal enemies seem to be able to come together when it comes to declaring their hate for homosexuals. And most of the people that are protesting the loudest are doing so because they're trying to suppress their own secret urges.

Ken Hutcherson has officially lost his mind.

Controversial and virulently anti-gay Hutcherson - pictured above getting down with the Klan - wants to wage an unholy war against Microsoft. The former footballer and FBI suspect reportedly asked his Evangelical peers and Jewish colleagues to buy up Microsoft stock and force the technology giant to abandon its gay rights advocacy.

Apparently Hutcherson told Microsoft that he’ll be their “worst nightmare” if they don’t concede. He also said that he refuses to be intimidated by Microsoft’s size, wealth and power:

I consider myself a warrior for Christ. Microsoft don’t scare me. I got God with me. I told them that you need to work with me or we will put a firestorm on you like you have never seen in you life because I am your worst nightmare. I am a black man with a righteous cause with a whole host of powerful white people behind me.

The Birth of a Brain Cell: Scientists Witness Neurogenesis

New method allows researchers to pinpoint young nerve cells in the living human brain

For the first time, researchers have developed a way to view stem cells in the brains of living animals, including humans—a finding that allows scientists to follow the process neurogenesis (the birth of neurons). The discovery comes just months after scientists confirmed that such cells are generated in adult as well as developing brains.

"I was looking for a method that would enable us to study these cells through[out a] life span," says Mirjana Maletic-Savatic, an assistant professor of neurology at Stony Brook University in New York State, who specializes in neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy that premature and low-weight babies are at greater risk of developing. She says the new technique will enable her to track children at risk by monitoring the quantity and behavior of these so-called progenitor cells in their brains.

The genus Paphiopedilum encompasses most of the slipper orchids of Asia. Considering the size of the continent, it is no surprise that these orchids inhabit a vast range of habitats. Along with their variety of habitat comes a variety of forms, from the single flowered and often mottled-leafed terrestrials such as Paph delenatii, micranthum, and tigrinum, to the larger, strap-leaved lithophytes and epiphytes such as Paph rothschildianum, stonei, lowii and sanderianum.

The species of Paphiopedilum are among the most bizarre, rare, and beautiful of the orchid world.

A portable dew-harvesting kit inspired by a spider's web is being developed by Israeli architects for use in areas where clean and safe water is scarce.

In February 2007, UK engineering firm Arup and charity WaterAid held a competition aimed at finding new technologies to help people gain access to clean water in areas where it is scarce. This is a problem for about 1 billion people worldwide.

Cory and Malka were inspired by seeing drops of water caught on desert spiders' webs first thing in the morning. Their design, called WatAir, consists of an inverted pyramid of sheet material, which collects dew and channels it into a collector and filtration unit in the centre.

Somatization is a persistent and puzzling clinical problem.

Patients are often sent for many consultations, usually starting in Primary Care, where it is estimated that they may account for 10% to 30% of visits to family doctors

ipowski (1968) defined somatization as ‘‘the tendency to experience, conceptualise and / or communicate psychological states or contents as bodily sensations, functional changes or somatic metaphors’’. This definition puts emphasis on the patient’s interpretation of the symptoms.

Psychosomatic theorists (e.g. Lask and Fosson, 1989) argue that somatic symptoms are a means of expressing distressing emotions. For those individuals that find acknowledging and expressing emotions difficult, they may, instead, learn to display their distress through bodily symptoms.

In developmental terms, emotions are regarded as primarily biological events, with subjective feelings as a secondarily developed component

"The procedure involves getting a close relative of the patient, such as a sibling, to donate several days-worth of stool. [Calgary physician] Louie tests the stool for diseases such as hepatitis and HIV and then mixes it with saline to create liquid feces. He then administers the stool to the patient through an enema."

"Louie said the technique allows good bacteria from the transplanted stool to reduce the number of C. difficile bacteria in the intestines and to restore normal intestinal function."

Don't poo-poo the technique.

A controversial new treatment, which involves the transplantation of human waste, can treat cases of C. difficile infection. But only a handful of physicians in Canada undertake the messy procedure

Though C. difficile can be kept in check by good bacteria in the bowel, problems can arise when the superbug is treated by antibiotics such as vancomycin. The antibiotics sometimes wipe out the good bacteria but fail to completely kill the C. difficile — leaving enough of it that it later flourishes

Left unchecked, C. difficile bacteria can cause chronic diarrhea, leaving sufferers virtually confined to their bathrooms.

Fecal transplants have become the first-line treatment for chronic recurrent C. difficile in Scandinavia. As well, more and more doctors are using it in the United States

more than 90 per cent of patients are cured through fecal transplants — most of them after just one treatment
